Trying to Get Pregnant

Re: WTO Thursday

  • @Ally989 Glad I'm not alone! I think you're right, there are ups and downs for sure. I felt like you the last two months, we were both really into it and I felt like it was bringing us closer. But this month has just been totally different. I know he was stressed about his SA and now nervous waiting for the results. I mention that we can still try this month since I haven't O'd yet and he says something like, well we don't have the results back and you haven't even had your testing. But I'm like, who cares?? If we find out nothing is wrong then there was no reason to not try this month. So that's annoying me. I think he is worried that he is the problem.  And last night I said something in passing that I may not be pregnant for a year, and he kind of snapped, like why would I think that and why are we going to the RE then if it's going to take a year. I don't know, we are just stressed I guess.

Mind if I jump on the thermometer recommendations for a sec?

The Mabis is out of the question for me because Fahrenheit are weird and unintuitive, and I don't have it in me to (F - 32)*5/9 to fix it first thing in the morning.

@BerkeBaby How long have you had yours? It looks fantastic, but I'm a bit concerned about some of the reviews that say it gives up after a couple of months.

ETA: If anyone has recommendations for a good BBT that does Celsius, I will creepy Internet love you forever.

  • Alright, well, I arrived for my appointment for this lab work a little over 15 min early, and apparently they're running about 30 min behind, so I'm going to try to start this out by phone here.

@GreatGigInTheWomb - that "ladies shopping" trip sounds fun! Enjoy!
@LakeR2014 - FX for temps confirming O soon!
@blonde1817 - okay, deep breath! It'll be okay. DH and I had a similar moment last cycle, and it's really tough. I think the best you can do is sit down and talk it through with your DH because you're both probably having feeling right now that you need to work out together (even if you're not feelings talkers like DH and I are not). We actually stopped in the middle of an un-fun, stressful BD session last cycle to have that talk, and it helped a ton!
@sldp123 - not at the moment, but see my response to blonde1817 above to see what happened last cycle. But I've definitely been sick for just over a week and I know we should have BDed this week just in case of early O, and I just haven't been able to "make" myself get it done!
@mali0902 - FX that you've got everything nailed down!
@severmilli12 - FX for O! I feel you on the crowds thing. We do midnight showings, and I feel like the crowd that goes to those adds to the experience, but otherwise I'm waiting at least two weeks to go see it for the big releases!
@JustBored10 - FX that you O today and timing is good!
@jparli - welcome back to WTO, and yay for chilling! :). I'm not even trying CP because I know I'll suck at it, and I think I'm pretty bad at CM. today I was like, "holy fuck, EWCM?" Because I rarely get a bunch of it and especially not so early. Then I realized I've been taking Mucinex for like 8 or 9 days now, so I'm probably just going to have extra CM this month! Might as well just try to get used to tracking it though.

  • @DarthFuriosa - I have had it for 4 months. No issues. It lets you keep several days' worth of temps, and allows you to use Celsius...I think. Don't quote me on that. I really like it and think some people just get their panties in a twist. I'll keep you posted on how the next couple of months go, if you'd like the full review. ;) I'll even check when I get home to see if I can switch it to Celsius.

R/R/CS: Would love to know what the feck my temp did this morning. Yesterday I was worried that my thermometer was broken due to my steady temps - then this morning it shoots up to higher than my pre O temps have ever been. I have had no fertile CM, very negative OPKs and no sex due to being away so my temps better get a grip of themselves and get back down tomorrow.

GTKY:  Will you or your SO be part of the millions going to see the Star Wars movie this weekend?   If not, was there ever a movie you just HAD to see the weekend it came out?  If so, which one?

My SO will definitely be seeing it - not me I just can't but into it. I always have to see The Hunger Games as soon as they are out.

  • @blonde1817 et al. DH has problems finishing if he isn't in the mood or we have sex too often (EOD might be pushing it). I try my best not to put pressure on him, but last month I had to. He wanted to try for ED and ended up failing. The day I was instructed by my RE to have sex I tried to initiate twice and he declined. I thought he'd get the idea the second time, but no. I finally had to tell him that we needed to have sex if he wanted a decent chance at a baby. Not romantic at all. The day before, we had sex but he didn't finish. I have the "if I were sexier" thoughts all the time. DH's drive took a nosedive over a year ago due to medication. I try to initiate and put lingerie on but usually I'm met with "I'm tired" or "another time." I try not to take it personally, but it's really hard not to.

@Smashbox29 You're going to have to wait it out to see what happens in the next few days. When in doubt, HIO.

Nope. I'm not one to go the first weekend it comes out. I may have done that for HP, but it was most likely the second weekend.

  • @MrsDho11 That's what I am thinking too!  I got a peak reading on my digital OPK so I may need to buy a new thermometer (A mabis this time) and just go off my OPK for this cycle. We are NTNP but I wanted to confirm if I was Ovulating at least due to long cycles.

  • Thanks everyone for all of the support and feedback! I had a feeling we're not the only couple to experience this. This is our first month of actively TTC so I think we're still learning and adjusting. I decided to just not talk about it anymore to avoid any added stress and pressure. So thank god for you guys! As much as it sucks, forcing the issue isn't going to help, so I just have to wait until he feels like initiating. I don't want to have terrible timing for this month but I also don't want it to become a bigger issue where he starts anticipating problems all the time. Ugh.

  • Hi ladies! Lurking newbie intro!

Month/Cycle: 2/2 though first cycle was more NTNP since it was my first off the patch

    CD: 1

WAYDTGKU: just started BBT, but waiting for AF to leave

R/R/CS: Hubby and I are trying for our third (two DD, 7, 2), and it's our first time actually ttc so this is a new experience for us. I've always just used a period tracker, and it's usually pretty accurate, so I was going to wait a couple months before temping. I knew since this was my first cycle off bc, I would be irregular. But since I have been lurking since before ttc, I started going crazy not knowing whether or not I was ovulating. Then my "expected AF" day came, and I decided I should be able to poas, which came back bfn. I was going to wait a week to test again, and then start temping once AF came. I started temping yesterday anyway, because I found myself poas again only four days "late". Temped this morning, had a slight dip, and thought "hmm, AF might come today!" ( This will probably be the only time ttc I'll be excited for AF.... Let me rephrase that, in my life lol). Anyways, I know I definitely don't have enough info to truly know, but voila, AF showed her ugly face. Anyways, I decided it was time to introduce myself, since I was excited about this small seeming success with temping, and DH didn't understand my excitement lol. I will try to offer as much support as I can, though the ladies here are so competent and got this under control! Also, I'm a lurker by nature. I look forward to actually getting to know you ladies! Also, creepy lurker hugs to those having a rough day ttc!

GTKY: Will you or your SO be part of the millions going to see the Star Wars movie this weekend? If not, was there ever a movie you just HAD to see the weekend it came out? If so, which one?

Ehh... Never been a star wars fan.. Not sure why. I think they're too long?

Actually, not a huge movie person. We'll go see something with favorite actors on opening weekend every once in awhile. I love Disney, though! We had to see Hotel Transylvania 2 the day it came out!
  • @MrsDho11  I have been charting CM all along (and for 3 months before TTC) and I have pretty much always had EWCM the day before or the day off O. Today I got CH, but they were put on a day with dry CM so I'm just super confused.
  • @MrsDho11 - I think DH is just as invested as you are, he just prefers the surprise. That's what my hubby keeps telling me. He likes the idea of how much closer we are getting by being more intimate, more regularly. And I think he's just soaking up the time we're spending together, just the two of us. I think he's really interested in being surprised, where I just really want to know what's going on IMMEDIATELY. The TWW is the worst part for me. FX for you, too!
