Well , I had my high risk ob appointment today to evaluate my " non coiled umbilical cord" and it has some " false knots" apparently as well and I have a shoterned cervix further increasing my risk for pre-term labor.
Today was informative and scary. I go back in 2 weeks for a fibronectin and another cervical measurement.

Hope things progress for you in the next 2 weeks! Stay positive!

    I LOVE PERSIMMONS.
My mama makes these amazing persimmon cookies. She had a persimmon tree growing up, so I always had my hearts content.
A persimmon grows on a tree? This is the most enlightening conversation I've had all day.

Ick. My MIL is always making persimmon pudding.. no thank you.

That reminds me, I gave an interview for the March/April edition of Costco magazine. Keep an eye out. ;)

Sorry for the persimmons. Wait, what's a persimmon? I had to google it, and I still don't know what it is!

@NachosAndPeaches I'm a grown woman and have no actual clue what a persimmon is.
Ah, I'm not the only one! I thought my foreign status was there issue, I feel better now. :)

I'm so sorry for the scary report! I wonder what false knots are?
    How short was the cervix?

I'm sure everything will be fine. It's good that the doctors know all these things now so you can be monitored!
  • OMG are there any Christmas cookies left in the world after what I ate today???
    Barfffff!

Not sure about what side effects the false knots may have. They didn't seem to make as big of a deal over those as they did for my cervix. It measured 2.6. Dr said 3.5 is more normal for how many weeks I am.

I've been cramping since my ultrasound today and that doesn't help :(

My cervix measured 3.1 cm at 20 weeks and 3.3cm at 22 weeks, transabdominally. From what I could tell that is shorter than usual for those weeks, although not 'worrisome' short - I'll ask my doc at my appointment tomorrow.

I did however ask the sonographer who did my Level 2 US at 22 weeks, and she said that an accurate measurement can only be taken with a transvaginal US. She said that if she gets any hint from the transabdominal US that the cervix may be short, she does a transvaginal right away to confirm, as the transabdominal measurement is not that reliable.

I had both a transvaginal and abdominal u/s today that's how they measured my cervical length. If it's shortens any more I'll have to use progesterone and possibly have to quit working. We will see in about 2 weeks what they say

One of the knots in the cord is right by her face in the 3D they did today
  • @jonesl12 I'm so sorry you're going through this. FX for good news in two weeks! Please, please keep us updated!

Lol!!!! It's my favorite fall/winter fruit. I eat like 2-3 a day. Peaches in the summer, persimmons in winter. It looks like an orange tomato but it's sweet. Sort of mango ish, peach ish, but has its own flavor. You have to make sure it's ripe or it will dry your mouth out terribly though.
I've seen them >.> I'm the rare person who hates peaches... I'm hesitant to try one now <.<
  • @jonesl12 I hope everything is OK... I second LO is adorable though ;)
  • And Iowa is back on. DD1 *only* has an ear infection. I'm crying inside

  • @jonesl12 I've always found 3D ultrasounds to be a little weird... but yours is so adorable I kind of want to see our lil peanut in 3D! Hope you get some good news in a couple of weeks!
  • @allaire314 we got a couple of 3D images from my AS and I think DD looks like a creepy little alien with her mouth open and the tip of her nose missing. Sweet yet strange. OB says she's small for her GA, 29% range. Also.. fist pumping.

Ha ha, love the fist pump... but yeah, no offense... this puts me back in the "Not Worth It" category for 3D... our office doesn't do it, so I would have to go to an elective place... They say the best images are 32-36 weeks... but why not just wait a few more weeks and see your ACTUAL baby!?
  • No offense taken! Lol. I think it's creepy. My family is like "awwww" and I'm like "ehhhhh." I can't wait to see her filled in with some chubby cheeks. I know I make cute babies already so I'm not worried. :p
  • @cmjenkies even some of my 2D ultrasound pics are creepy... I hope I can say I make cute babies when all is said and done!

Mine was included in my extended a/s because I opted to have some additional testing. I wouldn't pay for it, honestly, and I just don't really find fresh babies all that cute. Hopefully she has DH's hair, though!

@AmadorRose my office always does a 3D sweep during the A/S for some reason. I definitely wouldn't have paid extra.

I felt that way until I saw my own. I fear I'm going to be one of those moms with an ugly baby that thinks she's just adorable, and I thought I'd be more objective!
Haha - one of the first things DH said about DD after she was finally wrapped up and pink and looking human was "thank goodness she's actually cute". Then she went through an unfortunate stage where she looked like the stereotypical elderly Chinese man from movies due to her hair...

But hey, she got really cute again once the hair started coming in on the top and not just the back/sides ;)
I'm starting to think we're the same person. The first thing DH said about DD was "she looks like an alien, she's got major cone head". After about a day he made the "ok good, she's cute now her head is normal looking" comment

  • Can anyone recommend a brand that makes good quality maternity pantyhose?
I wear black opaque pantyhose almost every day, and my usual pairs are now too tight.
I got a couple of maternity pairs at Thyme Maternity and while they are comfortable, they do not stay up! They slide down all the time and I have near "pants on the ground" moments...
    Any suggestions?
  • @thaisac1  I bought maternity pantyhose in a charcoal gray color from Old Navy for our company holiday party. They were insanely comfortable and I didn't have any issues with them falling down.

That's good to know, I'll check them out!
  • What happened to the site? I was gone for like 3 days and I come back and now I can't add a picture anymore!?
  • @thaisac don't get the Target maternity tights (Be or whatever)... mine are falling down constantly.
