Baby Names

Brother for Jude

We're more than likely having another boy judging from the unmistakable penis in the U/S so we're focusing on boy names. We like the name Zion after Zion National State Park (we're very outdoorsy).  What else is there that's unusual but easy to pronounce and spell like Zion?

Re: Brother for Jude

  • Uh, Zion is a bit religious, I would not use it.

  • Uh, well that's probably because I am religious. I didn't ask if you would use it, why would I care about that. I asked what other type of names were out there similar.

Oh cool, I didn't realize state parks were a religious affiliation.

Flippant remarks aside, Zion has different connotations than Jude, so I thought it a bit of a stretch particularly with the national park reference. As a religious person, you should be aware of that and yes, you may choose to use whatever name you like.
  • State parks don't have anything to do with religion! But, you said Zion sounds religious...and I am religious. So it's perfect in both a nature and religious aspect. Thanks!

Well, at least it's not Cohen.

  • Name matchmaker says Titus, Elias, Declan, Damian, Kai, Tate & Reed were all similar to Jude & Zion. There were many other ideas. :)
  • I find Zion completely side eye worthy. It's like using Covenant, Lutheran, or Catholic as it's literally on a billion church signs. the fact you say you are religious makes it seem even more odd to me or maybe Duggarish. I agree it's better than Cohen although barely.

  • I guess I don't really see the problem with Zion in a religious sense. Christian is an acceptable name and no one generally side eyes it. I think it's more side-eye worth because it has no history as a name until 2000 and it's looking super trendy.
  • No comments on easy to spell, unique names (mostly because I don't know anything about your style - Jude and Zion are stylistically quite different). I wouldn't use Zion because it's a word with a lot of cultural baggage. Someone a while back was going to name their child Calvary and I would put Zion in the same category.
