ladies, I am new here. I am asking this here because I need some advice asap. I posted in other forums, but no response. Being you are all IUI users, I figure your also on Ovidrel?
I was told to BD today at 1pm, then again at 10pm, then tomorrow at 10pm. Though the first doc said to BD tonight, and tomorrow night. The other said twice in one day which is today!!!!! WTF? Im confused. Please comment. Sometimes, I think the clinic wants me to keep failing so I do IVF since they brought it up numerous times. This is my first time on Ovidrel, my second month on Clomid. They also wanted to increase my clomid dose but they said it is working and I could see that from the ultrasound. I OV and get AF regularly on my own. Very confused and skeptical. I called for a 2nd opinion at different clinic but because that clinic is an hour away (no more near me than the one) they wouldnt share advice yet.

  • Well it's official ladies, my LH levels do not indicate that I am surging on my own so therefore Ovidrel tonight and IUI Friday morning!!

  • @erica0901 that's awesome! Are you doing it yourself? DW gave me my first one last month, but last night i did it myself! :-) I was so scared but with the advice given by all the ladies here, i sucked it up, gave myself a pep talk and stood against a wall...such a piece of cake when the anxiety level is down (was horrible last month b/c i was acting like a child and freaking out lol).

IUI #1 was this morning and tomorrow I'll do the second and be officially in the TWW.

  • @Superwomanof3 - I haven't personally heard of a doctor saying to BD twice in one day.  It's usually recommended you BD the same night as your ovidrel/trigger shot, especially if there are sperm issues so that the guy's tubes are cleared out and you end up with a better sample the day of the IUI 2 days later.  I would ask them what their reasoning is.  If there are no sperm issues then sometimes it is recommended that you BD the night before the IUI.  But I haven't yet heard of twice in one day being recommended... I wonder if any of the other ladies on here have experience with this.

GL @vnegron87 with your 2ww!!  FX for you!!!!

@erica0901 GL to you as well!!

  • @Superwomanof3 I've never heard of being asked to BD 2x/day either. You mentioned at least two doctors who gave you different instructions. Do you normally rotate MDs or did you end up with another MD because your appointment was on the weekend?

I'm sorry you feel pressured to head straight to IVF. If you're skeptical, is it possible to get a second opinion?

  • thank you for your comment. The advice was given at the same clinic by two different nurses. First one said BD tonight and tomorrow, 2nd said BD twice today and again tomorrow. Were not BDing twice today. I do not trust that. Wondering now, If BD mid afternoon would be wise or in evening? Being I took the shot yesterday evening. I dont want to miss our window.
  • We BDed the night before the ovidrel, and we are BDing tonight. They didnt mention BD at all the day of. I really need to find another clinic quick. I am so concerned with this one. Thank you for commenting and good luck everyone!

@Erica0901 -  I was terrified my first time giving myself the shot. It's really no big deal, and once I did it once, it's been a breeze every time since. Don't worry, you'll be fine! There are lots of youtube videos too, if you want to see how it's done.

  • Hey everyone-been several days since I've been on so here's the updates. Those of you who were on the November IUI board know that during my last 2WW I randomly started leaking from my nipples. RE checked my prolactin even though my last prolactin test had been normal. This one came back high. This morning I went for my MRI and RE just called to tell me I have a "growth" in my pituitary gland. I now have to go for a vision test bc these growths apparently can cause loss of vision. Another MRI in a few months to check and see if it is growing, if so its off to a neurosurgeon. What a blast.

As far as this cycle goes in on day 11 and tomorrow is my first ultrasound to check follicles. I feel like they are growing, I'm super horned up like I was last cycle when I developed 2 on the left side. We are doing femera and ovidrel again this cycle. That's the update for now. I'll be back tomorrow with follicle results!
  • @kh87 I'm so sorry about the growth.  I hope that you don't have to go to a neurosurgeon, but at least you know about it and can take care of it now instead of never finding out and further issues developing later.

GL with your follie check tomorrow.

  • Our IUI #1 failed last month so we are going for #2 this month. The RE said we might have to come in Christmas Eve or on Christmas, which disrupts our Christmas morning routine but is SO exciting too! After 9 months of Chlomid and Femara, we found that only 10mg works. I only had one egg last cycle on 10mg so this cycle, I'm taking 10mg again but for 7 days instead of 5. We go in for an u/s on the 23rd which is cd12. I think I O around cd17 or cd18 with the help of meds so I'm not hopeful that cd12 will yield great results :( .
  • @hogwartsmama my Dr. put me on 10mg of Femara and my progesterone levels are barely over 10. I didn't know your could extend the days od the medicine, I'll ask him about that! I'm 9 dp iui #5 :/ so we'll see if this one works. Fx yours does!!!

Ladies I have a question. Yesterday was 8 dp iui and for about 5-10 minutes I had sharp stinging pains in my uterus off and on. It hurt so bad I had to grab onto something so I wouldn't fall over. And I've been super sleepy and moody (so my hubby says lol) This is weird to me because I do not have any symptoms that I'm starting my period until I actually start. Any help is much appreciated!!!
  • If everything goes well, this month will be my second IUI. I took a bit long to respond to the hormones last month, but we now know I need an injectable along with the Clomid to get my follicles ready, so we hopefully won't have the delay we had last month.

  • @GWest13 definitely ask about that! I also know that you can go up to 12mg - there are clinical studies where some women were on that dosage but my RE doesn't like to do that level so she extends the days instead. Also, there are injectible forms of fertility medications that work like Femara (I'm not talking about trigger shots). They are supposed to be more effective than pills. My RE will try them if this round doesn't work. Also, don't fret about the progesterone levels! Mine have been at an abysmal 1 or less than 1! And my estrogen levels have bee. Crazy low too but my RE isn't worried about it.

The pain you felt could be implantation. The vast majority of women implant on 9dpo. Good luck!!!!!!

  • Had my baseline and blood work today. Looks like I get to join you ladies! Starting Femara today and adding follistim after CD7. Had to sweet talk my way into this cycle. RE wanted me to take the cycle off because CD10 would be on Christmas and the clinic is closed. Talked them into doing my first ultrasound follicle check on CD11 instead.
Hope you all have a very Merry Christmas and I hope to see lots of BFPs soon :)

  • Went in today and have a 16,14, three 13s and three 12 follies. Hopefully not all of them will continue to develop! I don't need a football team! I'm continuing Follistim and starting low dose hcg the next two days and hoping for iui next week. Has anyone else here used low dose hcg before the trigger?

@erica0901 I've used Endometrin before. It's not so bad. And I prefer it to some other stuff I've used (not sure of the brand, but there are these gross waxy bullets with no applicator). I would recommend wearing a liner because you will probably have a little leakage.

    GL to everyone!

  • Had my 4th IUI this am! Feeling hopeful and hoping to receive good news in the new year. Waiting until 1/4 will be torture! Good luck everyone!!
