  • Good catch. Haha. Corrected.
  • I think Emily is really pretty, but as for Blake I know on this board most people are pretty against using traditionally male names for girls.  It doesn't personally bother me.
  • NAF of Blake and see it as more masculine but since it's a MN, it doesn't bother me that much.
  • I like Emily Blake.
  • My husband loves the name Blake and he won't budge. I'm pretty sure it's just because he loves Blake Shelton. He named our girl cat Stevie after Stevie Ray Vaughn...
  • i like Emily Noelle. She is due in January, and Noelle is such a pretty winter name.
I guess I should start brainstorming how to get my way ;)
  • I love Emily Noelle!
  • Love Emily Noelle. Definitely fight for that.

  • Really over Blake, James, Ryan etc for girls. Noelle is lovely, or there are so many other mns that would pair beautifully with Emily: Emily Rose, Emily Catherine, Emily Celeste. I like Blake for a boy. Save it. Emily and Blake would be a cute sibset.
  • I don't care for masculine names on girls, even in the middle spot. It's trendy, fromy experience done by boring who think their being edgy, and further advances the idea that feminine qualities are weak and inferior to masculine ones. I am at the point where I'm even bothered by family names, because no one wants to name their son Stephen Claire after how awesome grandma was, but think James after a distant relative their parents never even knew is super cute and strong. So no. I don’t care for it, and it would take a pretty awesome reason to justify it in my eyes. Emily is a nice, classic name though.
    ^ 100 % agree with all this.

If you were to come onto the Names board and say that you were the one that wouldn't budge on using a name that your husband didn't like, I (and others I'm sure) would tell you that both parents need to be on board or else that name is out. The same should apply if the shoe is on the other foot. If you aren't a fan of Blake, he needs to be able to compromise on something else.

  • Emily Noelle is 100x prettier and will age 100x better than Emily Blake.
  • I also prefer Noelle to Blake.

Unless Blake is a family name, I would veto.  Suggest using it for a MN if you have a boy later on.

I LOVE Emily Rose.. I wanted to name our little girl that but my hubby doesn't like the name Emily :(

    I prefer Noelle. :)
  • Totally prefer Noelle. As much as I love Blake Shelton he has some less than becoming qualities, no chance I'd name my daughter after him!
  • I can't imagine telling people I was named after Blake Shelton. I mean he seems kinda funny and is famous for music but he also has multiple failed marriages and a drinking problem that he tries to make jokes about. I find naming after celebrities incredibly odd on children. Pets sure. But it gives a really odd vibe to take a name from pop culture and give it to your kid. Veto it. Emily Noelle is adorable on a kid yet beautiful and respectable on an adult.

  • If Blake was a family name, I would think it was fine, family names in the MN spot allow some leeway (including masculine names for girls), but because it's basically random, I wouldn't do it.
