My son is three weeks and he had a reaction to parents choice diapers. Then we did huggies and they keep leaking and he pees through them. What kind are y'all using?
Pampers swaddlers! I used the pampers swaddlers sensitive with my son. I found that Huggies leaked bad on boys. I still swear by the swaddlers and use them for my daughter.
Pampers Swaddlers. We haven't had any leaks with pee and only twice with poop but very minimal. We also used Luvs because they were a gift. The Luvs caused a rash though.
So far we've used Pampers, Huggies, Target and Tugaboos (RiteAid.) So far I've liked all of them, except the Huggies. He kept leaking but it might have been because I had to fold them down due to his cord stump. I'd be willing to try them again as I believe they make them for Costco.
Swaddlers and seventh generation. The seventh gen grew on me after I adjusted how I was putting them on. I've ran out of newborn and am using pampers size 1 until the cloth fit him better. I'm surprised at how well the size 1 are holding up and not leaking or anything considering he is only 15 days.
We used newborn Pampers and now we are using size 1 Huggies. Our boy doesn't have any issues with the Huggies. He leaked in the newborn Pampers, but that might have been because he outgrew them. We have a few boxes of size 1 Pampers in the closet, so we will see once the Huggies run out.
We were using pampers swaddled and they were great. Now we're on to a pack of luvs which I could take or leave. Not really a fan of the plastic crinkling sound they make. Makes them seem super cheap.
But we plan to put him in cloth once his legs chunk up enough (which we had hoped would be already)... He leaks out the leg holes right now. He's a month old but both DH and I have chicken legs so it's no surprise LO does too
Only tried pampers swaddlers and honest. Honest leaked a bunch, but i only tried them in NB size and it was right at the point where the swaddlers NB size was also starting to leak sometimes, so we're in size 1 now.
We bought a ton of Huggies because everyone said they were the best. LO keeps having blow outs in them and leaking as well. We've had better luck with Luvs.
My MIL keeps buying us huggies because she says they are the ONLY ones that work. Even though I told her they simply do not work for us. I am obsessed with the target brand diapers. I've been using the huggies just to get rid of them, but the target brand are magical. We will use them until she fits in the cloth.
Forget my post earlier about using luvs. He peed all over me during his nap and woke up angry. Did the same thing to DH last night. We will only finish that pack if we run out of our other disposables. But I really hope our cloth fit soon
We have been all pampers since he's been home (the hospital used huggies, which worked fine too. We just already had the pampers gifted to us). We've used both swaddlers and baby dry and I prefer swaddlers by a mile. But the baby dry get the job done, too.
I was reading today that newborn diapers with the cord cut out tend to leak no matter what brand. Not sure how true that is
Also, most newborn go to 10 lbs but I noticed size 1 typically starts around 8 lbs. is it better to switch over to size 1 once he hits 8 lbs? I have one more box of newborn to go through so that should last me until he's just about 8 lbs.

Its individual to the kid, how they fit in the diaper and how much they, erm, produce. My Kiddo is only about 7lbs but I switched over to size 1s when she started leaking through NBs about 1/3 of the time. She hadn't leaked through them at all, then all of a sudden at 3 weeks we started getting leaks, so I went up a size. They look a little comically big on her, but (TMI) she's a mighty pee-er, she needs the extra absorption. If your kiddo is fitting fine in NB and not leaking, don't worry about it. Just maybe pick up a box of size 1s to keep on hand for when they don't work anymore.

It's your call as to when to make the switch since the weight overlaps. I know it's time to switch when they either start leaking or when they're leaving indents in my kids' skin because there's now they're comfortable when I start noticing diaper marks in their thighs.
We used Pampers swaddlers and BRU brand until cloth fit better, now that's all we're using. Both the disposables were OK, but she peed through then both occasionally. I like the cloth much better even though it's a lot of laundry
@angelinthepit23 we switched around 8.5 lbs because we ran out of newborn. Then I realized how much better the size 1 were at keeping the pee in. We had been changing outfits 2+ times a day because of pee or poop splosions
So far we've used Pampers Swaddlers and Luvs NB size...I like the swaddlers better...our LO still fits in the NB size (he's 8lbs 14oz but is skinny so no indents yet and he isn't leaking through constantly, only 2 blowouts so far)...we are hoping to use cloth someday but not until his little legs get bigger, I've tried them a few times but he just leaks right through! Until then we will probably get a few different brands and see which we like best once we run out of the swaddlers that we were gifted
@angelinthepit23 we used pampers newborn until the package ran out (she was about 8 pounds at the time- almost a week old) and started using some size ones that someone gave us. I have to say I prefer the size ones. She still fits in newborn, but size one doesn't leak. She has skinny legs so if she has a massage explosion they soemtimes leak. But with the newborn she would leak down her legs and back.

LO is over 8lbs but swims in the 1s so we still use N.
We've also been doing pampers swaddlers. I tried honest company- which I liked with my daughter when she was older- but they are leaking with my son. We will start cloth diapering again soon. I just didn't have newborn cloth so we've been waiting. He's 9+ pounds now so when I run out of what disposables we have now.
We don't get tons of leaks just occasionally I'll pick him up at night and he has a wet spot on his back. I just blamed it on changing him half awake lol. I'll finish the NB we have and try size 1. Worst thing I run out and get a few NB's.

The hospital provides us with diapers and they only use size 1, worked perfectly fine for our newborn and when we went home we used up a small package of newborns and went back to size 1.
NB size, we are currently using Pampers Swaddlers. We have used Huggies but I wasn't really a fan. They fit LO funny, but didn't have any leaks or anything so I guess it's a preference thing.
Mainly pampers right now. They're my favorite. Fortunately we haven't had to buy any diapers yet and LO is two months old. And we've only gone thru about half our supply from showers.
I use babyganics and I love them! No leaks or blowouts and baby girl is a little pee monster lol. One day she pooped her guts out and babyganics handled it like a champ.
Just opened a package of seventh gen, the "touch of cotton" last night, and I love them so far. They fit really nicely, he's had no blow outs yet, and they are really soft and durable feeling.
LO is officially in a size 1. We had a leak every diaper change lastnight in Pampers which I never had an issue with before. So I bumped him up and so far so good. I have some Luvs in size 1 that I will try after the size 1 Pampers.
