FFFC

Re: FFFC

  • The hot shower thing really is more about not wanting to shift your blood pressure so you get dizzy and fall in the shower. My doc said baths and showers are fine as long as your skin doesn't turn pink and steam doesnt come off your skin.

I've also heard something similar about heated car seats and not using them because they could raise your internal body temp, but then some people use heating pads which would do the same thing. Everything in modertion and if you are being mindful you should be fine. None of us are accidentally roasting our little babies.

Stay out of the hot tubs though. Obviously.

@sgoldberg247 Lol. I was just talking to my coworker about that yesterday! She is due in April and her baby has been awake and highly active for every US and she feels frequent movement. Very different from my experience. I think this is the article I read, not sure if its the same I just googled sleep patterns. Note: I haven't vetted this or seen hard data, so don't take it as anything more than a one off. :)

ETA-- That's not the one, I was reading something more recent and specific. I'll have to see if I can find it.
  • So on black Friday I ordered some maternity clothes. Today I didn't feel like wearing real pants so I definitely wore the maternity jeans. I mean I think my "bump" is mostly bloat or food but they were so comfortable...I don't know that I can get myself to wear real pants again. Why doesn't everyone where these all the time?!?!?! I also haven't gained any weight which has surprised me because I randomly get the appetite of an elephant!
  • My FFFC - I'm kind of disappointed all of my clothes still fit really comfortably.  I usually fluctuate between 2 pants sizes depending on the day so I keep both in my closet and have had to switch over to the larger size full time but otherwise everything fits perfectly, no bella bands or hair ties or anything.  Same deal with shirts no issues there with tightness or weird bump outlines or anything.
Me too! All of my pre-pregnancy clothes fit just fine, except my bras. Nothing is tight, or uncomfortable... I just want to look a little bit pregnant.
  • Also, my FFFC is that I drink soda, roughly a coke a day. I justify it to myself that it isn't any big deal because I don't drink coffee, but really, I think I would still have my afternoon coke even if I was a coffee drinker.

  • @gray51015 I cut back on my soda with caffeine in it consumption because I'm just a nervous Nelly but about once a week or so I have fully caffeinated and it.is.lovely. yesterday I had one just because I had the worst headache ever and I knew the caffeine would cut it out (totally worked). I don't drink coffee either so when I have some soda I don't feel bad.
  • I still take warm baths. It's the only way to cope with the back pain and constantly feeling sick. I talked to my OB and he said baths are fine as long as they aren't hot (turning your skin pink or steaming) and they are fine because unlike a hot tub they do not keep a consistent hot temperature and start to cool down immediately. I will continue to take warm baths my whole pregnancy!

I took a hot steamy bath last night and it was awesome. I've never been told not to take a hot bath. I also ate shell fish on Monday and a soft cheese today. I live dangerously.
  • My confession: I'm a little ticked off that the dress I was going to wear to a fancy holiday party tomorrow doesn't look good due to my thicker tummy. I know, I'm growing a human, this is my third so It's normal to be a little puffy already, and all of that is more important. But part of me just wants to pout because I wanted to look pretty

  • @gray51015 my OB said that even with the limit on caffeine we are supposed to have you could still have a cup of coffee for breakfast and a pop with lunch/dinner and be fine. Now if you're drinking Starbucks or coffee with more caffeine than a regular cup that is a different story lol. Just so you feel better :)
  • On the caffeine thing: I will NOT give it up, but I do make 4 cups of quarter caf in the morning to drink (cups according to the coffee maker, not 4 mugs of coffee). That way, if I want a small Starbucks or sweet tea with dinner, it's not a worry.

Without caffeine, I swear, horns pop out of my head and bad things happen.

During the NT scan my tech had to pound on my stomach to wake the LO up and then he kicked with both feet to get away, rolled over and mooned her. It was funny at the time, but ever since I've been scared to have anything (including me) poke or push on my stomach. I have an intense "stop! you'll wake the baby!" reaction. I feel sheepish, but like for real, stay away from my tummy, baby is sleeping. (It doesn't help that I read an article that playing music for the LO in utero can actually be detrimental bc it can disrupt sleep patterns, not that I've done that cause it can't hear yet, but it just got me obsessed with sleep patterns, I guess.)

Flame away folks--I need tough love to get over this!
I have exactly the same reaction as we had to wake ours up too for our scan and it looked all flustered and started waving it's arms around....I felt bad....lol. Also those belly budds, my UO on this, stop annoying your baby while it is trying to rest and grow! I really don't think it will turn your kid into a genius. Same with flash lights on the belly....quit it!
  • At least this early on "wake up" is relative, they don't really "wake" per say, they just move as a reflex in response to stimulation.  Also you may have a change of heart later on if your baby decides to move around at night when you're trying to sleep, from what I've heard, they really have a disregard for your sleep patterns, both in utero and out.

When I was pregnant with my 1st it was very obvious she was only awake and active when I was resting or sleeping. Apparently this is normal; when you're moving about and there's lot of noise in your environment, that movement and (very muffled) noise actually lulls the baby to sleep. I also found as many new parents do that it was the same with my newborn; I needed LOUD white noise (think vacuum cleaner or radio blasting static) plus some pretty vigorous bouncing to get my baby to sleep.
  • Re: caffeine...I recently started drinking coffee again (I was just unable to tolerate the bitterness earlier in my pregnancy) and it is THE GREATEST. I feel 1000x better. I know some people are paranoid about any caffeine but I can't recommend drinking the amount you're allowed (200mg/day) enough. It is the best, haha.
  • My confession: I tried to make a quick stop at the grocery store for Christmas cookies, and in my mad rush, grabbed Hannakuh cookies... opps! THEN, I rushed to my car and it wouldn't open. I tired like four times to get in. I finally realized that it wasn't even my vehicle. (I drive a newer black minivan. This was an older charcoal colored hatchback. So it's not like they even looked similar.) And to top it all off, there was a lady sitting in it, looking at me like I was psycho! She was on her phone. I'm just hoping she was already talking to a friend, and not call 911 concerning a crazy lady at her car door! I then got in my car and drove off without making eye contact. So, yeah, that whole thing was pretty horrifying.
I can't love this enough, lmao!!!
