I'm 37+3 days and I am 1cm dilated. I plan on kicking up my walking daily, drinking some raspberry leaf tea and sprinkling in some sex to get things rolling. EDD is 12-26. I would live it if she comes before than.
@theawc42 same here! 39 +3 today at my appt & nothing. Dr seemed more discouraged than I was. She was like "& no signs, no BH, no mucus plug? Nothing?" "Nope!" Shop is closed for business! It'll happen, for now I'm trying to enjoy these last few days of feeling my baby move inside me. I know I'll miss that.
@LMJL I just today started having very mild contractions. nothing that's concerning to me that she'll be here in the next few days. And ive noticed her movements are decreased. Hopefully its a sign shes getting ready
Wow, I can't believe how many care providers check. I'm 39 + 4 and my midwife has not checked me once, she doesn't even offer a sweep until 41 weeks so I won't have any idea for another week and a bit.

Only from reading around here, it seems that midwives don't do them, or not often.

That would make sense, is there a reason OB's do it so often? I mean it really doesn't mean anything from what I've been told/read on here, you can be dilated and effaced a certain way for a long time, so why bother?
@NDPA it's a pretty outdated practice actually, but that's usual for physicians, it takes a lot of time for their practice to change, but there is research stating it is not needed before labour, as it doesn't change the course of anything (unless of course you have high risk issues or medical reasons for the checks)
Edit: I'm not saying because Physicans don't want it to change it just takes a lot of red tape
I'm due the 23rd, at my 38 week appt on Tuesday I was 2 cm dilated and 80% effaced. I'm hoping I go early. According to my doctor my baby is really really low. She said she'd strip my membranes at my next appt if I don't go into labor before then.
38w2d and still at 1cm. Baby is still floating and not engaged at all, so hasn't dropped any. Got put on the books for 12/22 induction (due date) and excited about it! I'm cool with checks, whether they be outdated or not. I don't think any of it means I'm going into labor or not, but I like knowing what my body is doing.
37+2 1.5cm dilated and 75% effaced. Go back on Monday for another check. Everything is definitely getting quite uncomfortable and making work a little harder each day, just ready to hold my little one!
39+4 and still completely closed. I didn't have any BH and havn't had any contractions, increase in discharge, or even any swelling. I honestly don't feel any different than I have been feeling for the past few months. If baby doesn't decide to come on his own he's getting evicted 12/17.
Well, the past two weeks, I've been 1cm, and today I'm 39+2 weeks, 1.5cm and 50% effaced, with a Bishop score of 5. I'll be 41 weeks ON Christmas, so in order to induce beforehand, I need to have a Bishop score of at least 6. So my OB will be checking me again on the 18th and if I have my score of 6, I can be induced on the 21st. I'm already scheduled to go in, just to make sure I have a spot, but if I don't progress by then, we'll have to cancel and wait until the 26th.... unless, of course, I go on my own!

I'm glad my OB doesn't go by a Bishop's Score. I went in for induction with DD at 41w1d and I was 0cm/0% effaced. This LO, I'm going in at 40w if I don't go on my own beforehand. Last week, I was 1cm and not very much effaced, although she didn't didn't give a specific measurement on that.
I am 40 weeks today and was checked yesterday, Effacing (no %) and starting to dialate. Then last night I think I lost the majority of my plug and have a ton more discharge with a show here and there. Hoping that means I actually started dialating to a measurable amount and that labor will occur sometime before the weekend. That is the wish. We will see what the reality is.
Went in on Monday 38 +4 and was 2 cm dilated and 50% effaced... Kinda bummed I wasn't farther..But all of a sudden I'm measuring behind. Very nerve wracking. I go Monday for another ultrasound to see what's going on.
I went in for induction with DD at 41w1d and I was 0cm/0% effaced.
How did it go? This will be me soon, I'm overdue and 0cm 0% which makes me nervous about an induction...
I went in on a Monday evening and they started Cervidil. They let that go for 12 hours. Next morning, I was 100% effaced but still no dilation. They started Pitocin after removing the Cervidil and a couple hours later my doc broke my water. She also opened me manually to 3cm. 10cm by 12:30pm and DD born a little after 4:30pm.
50% effaced and that's about it. 38+5 today. I finally lost the plug yesterday so I was hoping to be dilated at least a little lol. The waiting game continues!
Third baby, 39+4 and 0% 1cm dialated. Baby floating wayyy up high. Was really hoping for a little better although I knew it was unlikely since babe is so high.
Do your doctors offer up these numbers to you? My doc barely tells me how dilated I am and just that "your cervix keeps thinning and baby keeps dropping." I don't really mind that because I think I would overthink everything if I got precise numbers. I'm 40 weeks today and things just keep progressing, but no real signs of labor yet.
Doc tells me about the dilation. She doesn't have a specific number for effacement, but she'll tell me I'm really thick or thinned out some, etc.
ETA: I'm 2cm today and thinned out some. We are going in Tuesday morning (EDD) for induction! I'm happy that I get to put my 2 year old to bed Monday evening

Samesies!! Went in this morning and I'm at 3cm and thinned out, we scheduled an induction for Tuesday and I couldn't be happier!
I've been checked three times so far and same story each time, about 1 cm and 50% effaced. I think the midwives are onto something, I don't see the point of these checks. They are so uncomfortable, I'm super paranoid I'm going to pee on my doc while she's down there!
I was 3 cm 100% effaced at 36 weeks and everyone freaked the crap out, and now here I am at 39+3, same stats...same thing happened with my first. PLEASE ladies don't let these numbers make or break your day!
I was 3 cm dilated and still 50% effaced when I went in, this past week. I wanted to schedule induction for Monday but according to my doc the hospital is almost fully scheduled for inductions at this point because it's a holiday week. Everyone wants to have their babies on or before christmas... wasn't expecting to hear that
I went for my 39 week appointment today and I was surprised when my midwife checked. It's a pretty progressive practice, so I didn't think they would do cervical checks, but I was informed that they start at 39 weeks at my practice. I know I could have said no, but I was so curious. 1cm and 50%, lost plug at 38+3, midwife says baby is engaged, so moving in the right direction. Due on Christmas Day and really hoping baby girl decides she is ready to come before then.
Well, I'm 2cm dilated and thinned more as of yesterday and the baby has moved down a lot, so my bishop score is a 6 almost 7. Scheduled to induce on Monday, assuming I don't go before hand.
38+6 and nooooothing going on. Just twiddling my thumbs. Doc checked me Friday and he says I'm thinning out but cervix is still completely closed. He had even offered to sweep the membranes since I said I was "ready when she is", but he wasn't able to because I'm not open enough. I know there's no magic ball and I could still be in labor tonight (in theory) but it's so frustrating. i don't want to be in the hospital on Christmas and I really don't want DD to share her birthday with the holiday either (December baby here! I know the struggle!) so I was hoping she'd come early. But now that that seems highly unlikely, I'm also scared I'll go so long I'll need an induction and I'd really like to avoid that. Ok, /end rant. Sorry for the pity party... We're all almost there, right?? Good luck all.
I've been 1+cm dilated and 50% thinned since my 37 week apt now I'm 40+4 weeks. It's very difficult to remain patient. I was hoping to have this little baby before my birthday 12/22 and/or before Christmas but it's not looking good.

Doctor couldn't believe I wasn't having contractions already. I wish!! Come on baby!

I hope that it goes as well with this LO!
