I still can't decide how to announce to my ILs on Christmas. It will involve our girls, somehow.
For FB, I'm thinking of announcing on NYE (13w). I want to take a pic of a glass of champagne, a glass of water, a small cup for my 4y, a sippy for my 2yo, and a baby bottle. And caption it, "Cheers to the New Year! 2016 will be full of new adventures for our family. Baby #3 due July, 2016."
Probably will tell our families at Christmas. My MIL adds a stocking whenever we add a family member (someone gets married, has a kid, etc) so I'll just make a comment, "You're missing one!" or go buy a little tiny stocking to hang on her mantle and wait for her to find it.
@lcking82 same! Hate being the center of attention and can't stand the idea of doing some grand announcement. We're just telling people as we go, making sure all family knows and then friends kind of just as it happens.
We pre-announced in a slightly subtle way today with this picture. We are 9w3d and currently have a heartbeat so the odds are good. Soon I will post a closeup of the stockings. The fourth one has the ultrasound photo from 6 weeks. I think a lot of people will not even notice it because of the 500 Christmas tree photos on Facebook right now.
ETA: caption was simply 'Almost ready for Christmas!'
Will be posting this after the new year (only because I want to wait to go public until I tell work) but we also mailed Christmas cards using this picture.
Am waiting till the 12 weeks is up. But I wanted to do somethings funny to tell my sister. (She is younger by a few years). I wanted to get all these pads or whatever, and give them to her and be like, "here, you have these, I'm not going to need them for a while". And wait for her to click.. I told DH but I got a look like..
I've been dying to share this somewhere! Don't tell anyone We're sending out this pic in our Christmas cards as soon as we hear the heart beat Wednesday the 9th (it'll be 11 weeks so cards should arrive right when we are 12 weeks).
Hey girl. Just warning you that you can see your name on this and the Internet is a scary place. You may want to edit it.
Seriously. I easily found your info. Cloth diapers on your registry? You're braver than I!

Wow, looks like someone went the extra mile
No worries. Honestly I have a website with all of my work experience, loads of personal info, and even some contact info on it. I'm not afraid of internet strangers and actually I've optimized my stuff for search because I want people to find me! Hey anyone who wants to check out my registry is welcomed to do so- tell your rich friends who are feeling generous this holiday season. At $15-$20 a pop those cloth diapers aren't going to buy themselves!

There was once one person on another board who didn't believe that people could actually do that, so now I just throw it out there. It really wasn't difficult.
didi0308 it's your life! So long as you know the dangers, more power to you.

@Taymiller aww, Tay, I finally get to see what your little munchkin looks like! He's adorable. Of course, he looks A LOT taller than my little shortie! Lol. She's tiny so she looks like she's only 12 months instead of 18. Awesome family picture though!
Hi Y'all. We have been going back and forth on when to tell DH family. I already told my momma....haven't told the rest of my family. I just couldn't keep it a secret!!! I had a miscarriage at 7 weeks didn't find out till I was 11 weeks. So I am scared and hesitant to go through that again. We never posted it on social media. But we did tell all of our friends and family at around 6w when we did our first U.S. The reason we haven't told his family is because it wont stay a "secret". I was friends with DH sisters before I met him and we share a circle of friends...We tell his family...then everyone knows.
Come Christmas I will be 9w2d. Farther then I was before. I go back next week for a follow up due to threatened abortion I started spotting last week all was well thankfully! The 17th cant come soon enough! Just want to see my baby grow!!!
His family does a white elephant for Christmas each year for the adults. The plan that I came up with was take a picture of DH and I and maybe some baby shoes or something that shows we are expecting and wrap it up and include it with our real gift....so when the person grabs our gift and opens it they will be surprised!!! Still debating though!
Love hearing everyone's ideas! Especially those that have experienced a loss as well and are including it with your announcement.

My Husbands family has a Huge Christmas Eve Party where we always do a small random gift exchange. Everyone throws a $30 gift in the pile and you pick a number out of a hat for your order. When mine or my husbands number is up, we will pick our wrapped gift, which will be a poster board announcing the surprise! Even if someone else picks it, it will be cute as we are all family. I had a MC at 8.5 weeks in May, so hoping we get to make such a special announcement!
Holy goodness!!! We are announcing practically the same why! Love it!!!

I will be 12 weeks and 2 days on Christmas. On Christmas Eve I'm going to post the picture below and make it my cover photo and just see how many people realize the third blank stocking in the middle.
When I thought we were further along we decided to announce at Christmas. Now instead of 13 weeks we'll be 11. I was hesitant to go ahead with the announcement, but DH REALLY wants to still go ahead with the cute Xmas announcement. I planned on setting out 3 stockings. Mine, husbands, and a small one for baby saying coming July 2016. Do you guys think it'll be fine to go ahead with the 11 week announcement?
Yesterday I finally found Christmas pyjamas for my 2 kids (2 and 4) and saw a matching one for 6 months. I bought them snd we decided to tell the kids last night. It's been just too big of a secret to keep any longer. I took a video of us telling them and a pic of them holding the pyjamas. I was going to wait until Christmas, but I remember Christmas is usually flooded with posts, so didn't want to get lost in the mix. I already told my parents, sisters and brother. I'm between 10 to 11 weeks.
Just such a relief that everyone knows!!! It's too bad my good SLR is in repair, so had to use my phone oh well
I've decided! I'm telling my family over dinner and for our more social announcement, hubby and I are going to wear our 311 shirts (we're huge fans) and hold a 311 onsie. Still working on wording but something like "expecting a new member of the hive in July 2016."

Do whatever you are comfortable with. Are you waiting because of the possibility of miscarriage? If so, there isn't much of a difference in risk between 11 and 13 weeks. If you'd feel more comfortable waiting until the 2nd tri, you could do a New Year's announcement instead?
me 30; DH 35 TTC since May 2014. Aug 2014 BFP, EDD April 22, 2015. Low progesterone, started suppositories. Loss at 5w6d. Nov 19, 2015 BFP at 13 dpo, EDD July 29, 2016. MMC discovered 12/29 (9+4). Natural miscarriage 1/16 (12+1). AMH results 0.42, 1.2; FSH 12.1, AFC 10, dx DOR. RPL testing results normal. Nurse recommended progesterone suppositories in TWW. Clomid + trigger + TI cycle August 2016 - failed. Thin lining. Femara + trigger + TI cycle December 2016 - failed. Thin lining. Short LP (8 days). Acupuncture & Chinese herbs starting January 2017, lengthened LP to 10 days
Our parents and close friends know already, but we're telling DH's family on Christmas or at or holiday housewarming two days later.
If we do Christmas, we want to do either a group picture and have him yell out "1,2, Jess is pregnant" or during Guesstures (his family plays this every year) and we would act out "pregnant or baby".
If we do it at our housewarming, we will be more subtle and hang a baby stocking on the mantel and have our frenchie wear a big sister scarf we got her and see how long it takes everyone to notice.
We were going to wait until New Year's to announce because that's when I'll hit the magic 12 weeks, but we had an u/s and my second prenatal appointment yesterday, and I just can't wait anymore! Plus, I'd prefer to tell immediate family in person for Christmas rather than try to coordinate some get-together for NYE. I found an angel on Etsy who is making a card for me to have printed today. It says, "The best gifts don't come from a store... Merry Christmas from our soon-to-be family of 4! Baby M. due July 2016." It'll have a picture of DS printed on it - attached below. My mom wrapped up a couple special books for DS to unwrap on Christmas Day with my brother, SIL and their DS. I'll wrap them up again and have him unwrap them at MIL's on Saturday to announce to SIL and her kids. Then I'll text this pic of DS to close friends and family before posting on FB and dropping our cards in the mail.
@stellaluna14 I love it! Love those floors...love those shoes! It looks vintage and adorable!!
Thanks! I saw those baby minnetonkas at a thrift store by my house and I had to have them. The rug is vintage! I like yours too, the little slippers are too cute.
