Rants/Raves/Symptoms: Whoever said pregnancy is a wonderful joyous time is full of crap. MS seems to be done, but RLP is definitely coming on and I've spent the past 24 hours with an uncomfortable pressure in my pelvis. Whether it's gas or uterus I have no idea but there's definitely a small protrusion just above my pelvis, not big enough for anyone but me and DH to be able to tell but its definitely there.

What are you doing to get ready for baby? : nothing new

    Questions? : nope

GTKY: I'm feeling a tiny bit sappy today. Share something cute your SO has done recently: hmm. I have no issues with our dog sleeping in our bed and I love snuggling with DH and the dog when we're winding down at night. Now, as long as the light is on in the room, he lets the dog up to snuggle even though he isn't a fan of letting him on the bed at all. Not much but it makes me happy.
  • @Sgoldberg247 11-12 weeks is when I really started to feel the RLP and getting a little protuding belly above my pelvis too. Oh the joys ;)
  • @Sgoldberg247 11-12 weeks is when I really started to feel the RLP and getting a little protuding belly above my pelvis too. Oh the joys ;)

So joyful! I guess it's a small price to pay for a baby though. Also, fx-ed on your job prospects, being contacted by people is always a good thing!
As for your question, I'm getting an NT scan because it paired with the tetrascreen has a very high rate of detecting neural tube defects which I have a family history of. If it wasn't for that my doctor said they wouldn't be doing it since I'm young and healthy. As excited as I am to see the baby, I'm terrified they're going to find something awful with the screens.

Agreed. It'll all be worth it :) I'm embracing this little potbelly that doesn't seem to be going away now lol Thanks lady! I'm hoping to hear back within the next couple of weeks or so. It's giving me some hope that I won't be without a job once my time at my current company is done. I figured that was probably why my doctor didn't offer me the NT scan, since neural tube defects don't run in our families. I guess I won't worry about it if my doc isn't worried about it.

Rants/Raves/Symptoms: Tired. Probably going to jinx myself, but MS seems to have wound down over the last 2 days?

What are you doing to get ready for baby?
Nothing new, except saving $$, knocking out house projects, and saving more $$. Although it seems those things are mutually exclusive....

    Questions? Nope.

GTKY: I'm feeling a tiny bit sappy today. Share something cute your SO has done recently.
The other night I was feeling nauseous after I got in bed, and DH jumped up to grab me some dry cereal even though I know he was utterly exhausted.

@mrsschmity: If you want an NT scan, you can see if you can schedule one in the next couple of days before 14w? Given your age (as I recall--20 something?), your chance of a chromosomal abnormality is very slim, with the assumption of no family history. So, even though I do plan to have one, I wouldn't worry if you don't and it wasn't suggested by your doctor.

ETA: @mrsschmity: Congrats on the call back! I hope this job works out for you!

@Sgoldberg247: Sorry about the RLP and pressure. I felt what I think was my first into to RLP this week--ouch!

Also, I know it's SO much easier to say than do, but try not to worry too much about your screening. I'm sure you've been taking all the folic acid you need to prevent a defect, and even with your family history, I think the risk is still small (?). Hang in there, lady!
  • @mrsschmity- Good luck on the job prospect!  I hope it works out for you.

Rants/Raves/Symptoms: We're having a holiday lunch at work today.  I'm so excited.

What are you doing to get ready for baby?  Mentally, I'm not there yet.

    Questions? None

GTKY: I'm feeling a tiny bit sappy today. Share something cute your SO has done recently.  DH never cooks dinner.  HE can, he just doesn't.  It's one of my pet peeves.  On Thursday, he made dinner to make up for some of the jerk things he's said lately.  As a bonus, he even cooked Sunday dinner.  I was quite happy.

@crdo Yes I'm 26 and no family history, so I'm assuming that is why my doctor didn't suggest it. I think they do a separate test closer to 16-20 weeks that she mentioned. Thanks! And glad to hear the MS has died down a bit. FX it stays that way!

MS continues....it was gone by 14w with my last two PGs, so I'm kinda ready for it to just leave ALREADY! I know I'm only a week past that, but gahhhh :)

Not mecessarily cute, but he's been amazeballs during this pregnancy. He's picked up all my slack and has been so understanding and fabulous while I've slept and puked and slept some more. And the poor guy didn't complain when we couldn't DTD for like 8 weeks because I felt so awful. He's pretty great <3

My back hurts, I'm super crampy, & I'm exhausted. Put it all together & I'm pretty cranky today. On the plus side, after today I only have to work on Thursday.

What are you doing to get ready for baby?
    Working ($$$)

He's been great all around. He cleaned the whole house on the weekend when I was feeling crappy, & cooked dinner & made muffins last night (& did the clean up after). During the day he always sends texts to check in on me or just to tell me he loves me. He does a lot of sweet things for me. ❤️

Oh yeah, they have me on 4 g of folic acid a day (600mg-1g is the standard recommendation depending on who you ask) so I've got all the folic acid I need and more. The risk is low and its possible that my grandmother just didn't eat enough folic acid when she was pregnant which is why she had a kid with spina bifida but its still something to worry about until its ruled out around 16 weeks.

Ouch is the best description of RLP, man that pinch is not fun.

All true. You're taking care of all you can control, and hopefully all is well at 16 weeks!

Pinch is exactly right. Yay pregnancy! Haha
  • @mrsschmity Congrats on the call back.  I hope it works out.

Rants/Raves/Symptoms:  I'm feeling very whiny today.  I tried 6 pairs of pants this morning until I was just done an used a rubber band.  Since, this is my 5th pregnancy and my ute is measuring ahead of the pregnancy the doc says I've popped very early.  I am just not ready to go full blown maternity.  I refuse to do it before 2nd trimester.

What are you doing to get ready for baby?  Getting the house ready for my SO to move in.  He pays a ridiculous amount for rent and has an absurd car payment, so he is getting rid of that sports car and moving in with us.  YAY!

    Questions?  Nope!

@mrsschmity - I'm not getting an NT scan and I'm in my 30s.  FX for the job!

@sgoldberg247 - The joys of pregnancy.  Yesterday I had MS and what I assume was RLP...hurt like a MF for a minute, good times.

Rants/Raves/Symptoms: Just a rant (again...sorry).  Our dog went in for surgery today and I cried as little as I could.  I just hope everything goes well.  Oh and I have my annual review today and am hoping to tell my boss I'm pregnant.  Not much more I could fit into one day.

What are you doing to get ready for baby? Really hoping to clean out the guest (soon to be baby) room this weekend.

    Questions? None now.

GTKY: I'm feeling a tiny bit sappy today. Share something cute your SO has done recently.  He's been great with me being emotional to begin with but with our dog needing surgery he's really upped his patience level and love.
  • @Mrsschmity - FX for the job!  I'm 27 with no family history and I'm not getting any early testing/scans either.  OB didn't even mention it and I wasn't planning on asking for it.

@Sgoldberg247 - Best of luck with your testing.  Hope everything is just fine.  Sounds like you've done everything that you can!

@crdo - Hope your MS is gone for good!

Rants/Raves/Symptoms: Nauseous, tired, and the headaches have started... ugh.  Talked to my sister last night about her pregnancy symptoms (in case they were genetic?  Are they?).  She should have lied to me.  She was nauseous until about 19 weeks with (her words) "way less fun digestive issues until week 23".  She had nothing good to say about being pregnant except for the end result.  Hooray for the next 28 weeks.  On the plus side, she reassured me that I can, in fact, deliver a healthy baby even if I spend the next 3 months eating Egg McMuffins and Chipotle burritos since she lived on Cinnamon Toast Crunch for 7 months.  Good to know...

What are you doing to get ready for baby?
Talking to work about maternity leave options.  Which SUCK!  It'll be paid, but only because I've been here long enough to accrue 60 days of sick time (hooray for non-pregnant kick-ass immune systems).  If we have another baby within the next 5 years, I won't have that time and it would be un-paid.  Long story short - I'm moving to Canada.

Questions?  This is long enough already.  And I can't think of any today.

GTKY: I'm feeling a tiny bit sappy today. Share something cute your SO has done recently.  He's been a champ with the food aversions/cravings.  He's willing to eat anything that I'm craving for meals and he's been feeding the dogs since their food smells terrible to me.  He also brought me thin mints when I was craving them at 11pm and he only laughed at me a little bit.

Rants/Raves/Symptoms: Rave: Went to bed at 7 last night- pretty awesome.  Nausea is a bit better today.  I still have a lot of nervousness and paranoia and feel I won't be able to get into the holiday spirit until after my Dec 16 apt (praying it goes well).
Questions?  I'm wondering if I can feel SOMETHING down there (flutters???) My daughter kicked a lot and I remember feeling her around 16 weeks but this is early!!  It's not kicks- it's just--- not gas!
GTKY: I'm feeling a tiny bit sappy today. Share something cute your SO has done recently.
My hubby continues to get up with our toddler for her early morning wake-ups, or, last night, for her midnight freak-out.  I appreciate it so much.
  • How far along are you? 13 weeks today!

Rants/Raves/Symptoms: Exhausted. The insomnia is back. My boobs hurt constantly and although I'm not showing yet, I definitely can't suck in my blump at all anymore. Haven't puked in a few days though!

What are you doing to get ready for baby? Dragging my ass out of bed and going to work, today.

    Questions? Nope.

GTKY: Share something cute your SO has done recently. Specifically I can't think of anything right off hand. He's been really great with this pregnancy, though. I can't cook meat to save my life right now (I can eat it, just can't deal with the smell when it's cooking) and he comes home after he's worked all day and I've been off on the weekends and cooks without complaining. He's a good dude. I like him. He also kisses my belly when he leaves for work, even though there's not much there yet and I think it's just the sweetest thing.
  • @Kballew10: Thanks! Hope you have a different experience than your sister and your symptoms ease up soon!

@mkemommy: FX all goes well with your dog's surgery today!

  • How far along are you: 11 and 6

Rants/Raves/Symptoms: so constipated too! Feel so bloated. Raves: I slept really well last night. I haven't slept that good in weeks.

What are you doing to get ready for baby? Hoping to poop to make room for my lime moving to plum. Lol.

Questions? Not that I can think of
GTKY: I'm feeling a tiny bit sappy today. Share something cute your SO has done recently. He is off so let me sleep in this morning. Oh and last week he bought me one of the Christmas ornaments with the family where the woman has the bump. It's cute to see him excited

Rants/Raves/Symptoms: Got a chiro adjustment for my jacked-up neck yesterday and it definitely made a difference. Yay! I actually had a decent night's sleep last night! In other news, I continue to worry about the fact that I'm gaining weight at what seems to be an alarming rate. Couldn't have anything to do with my horrible eating habits, could it? Surely not.
What are you doing to get ready for baby? I started looking at co-sleepers. Arm's Reach, I think is the brand I've heard most about. Anyone ever use one?
Questions? See above question re: co-sleeper.
GTKY: Share something cute your SO has done recently. This morning he was up earlier than I was and when I stumbled into the kitchen and was standing at the coffee pot pouring myself a cup, he came up behind me and gave me the sweetest, longest hug with his hands over my belly.

    @mrsschmity ,I didn't get an NT scan, either.  It wasn't mentioned/offered.
@kballew10 , it reassures me, too, that babies can apparently grow on a steady in-utero diet that is, ahem, less than perfect.

I haven't had much of an appetite at all, and I especially cannot eat meat. My husband has been doing really well with that sudden change and has been making me really plain dinners more often. He also keeps talking about how he can't wait to walk around and wear the baby ... Ugh it's so cute.

FX for you and your job prospect @mrsschmity!

@SGoldberg247 the "joys of pregnancy" do not exist!! Lies. All lies. With my 1st, I swore people omit/gloss over most the bad stuff. Even my eyesight deteriorated! I don't recall reading THAT. Went from 20/15 in both to 20/20 & 20/30 with astigmatism in both. Joyous, indeed.
@KBallew10 I don't think symptoms are genetic. Hope you get a break from MS soon!
@HighFive16 your poop comment made me snort coffee!

How far along are you: 12w3d

Rants/Raves/Symptoms: DD woke up at 6am and puked in her bed. So that was magical. She's not sick, acts totally normal, normal appetite. We all had the same dinner... No idea why it happened! I (guiltily?) wish DH had been here to field it...

What are you doing to get ready for baby? Nothing in particular today. Making sure to eat some vegetables with all my carbs.

Rants/Raves/Symptoms: I am super stressed about my midwife appointment today. I'm only going in because when I was there 2 weeks ago she couldn't find the heartbeat. She wasn't concerned but it's hard not to stress. Feeling like I've got Schrödinger's fetus in there right now and I don't want to open the box.

What are you doing to get ready for baby? Trying to get my apartment cleaned up, decluttered and organized. It's a nightmare.

    Questions? Not today

GTKY: I'm feeling a tiny bit sappy today. Share something cute your SO has done recently. I really can't think of anything. This is probably more a commentary on my sluggish over-tired baby brain than my husband, though.
  • @maddvollmer that's exciting!  I'll be thinking of you at 1:30 (of course, no idea if we're in the same time zone).
  • @mrsschmity- WOO HOO!  Great news on the job prospect!  Positive thoughts your way.  I had the noninvasive blood work for chromosomal abnormalities.  It's covered on my insurance since I'm an old lady (36).  I don't think I would opt to have further testing done if anything is abnormal- it won't change anything for me.  I am excited to find out the gender!

@maddvollmer- Good luck at your appointment!  Keep us posted- so exciting.

How far along are you: 13 weeks today!

Rants/Raves/Symptoms:  I had spotting first thing in the morning yesterday which sent me in a tailspin - none since then- YAYYY!  It did trigger some anxiety and had me in a funk but I'm feeling better today but still tending to over analyze every little thing.  My symptoms have been next to nonexistent for the last week or so.  I'm tired and my lady humps are full but other than that I'm golden!  I feel so blessed with this pregnancy (even when I had MS)!

What are you doing to get ready for baby?  Laying on the couch a lot and watching Lifetime Christmas movies!  Still waiting for those test results before I make an announcement.  Then it's time to start Pinterest pinning and getting things moving along.  I don't see myself doing much until closer to February/March.

Questions?   I used my Doppler today and noticed the heart beat sounded different- more like a gallop (echo-ey) than before (it just sounded like fast heartbeat).  I also noticed it will fade in and out more- just baby moving I'm hoping ?!?

GTKY: I'm feeling a tiny bit sappy today. Share something cute your SO has done recently. I lost my job two weeks before I found out I was pregnant- we have had several losses before so hubs told me to not even look for a job until year and get something with little to no stress until after LO is born and its time to go back to work.  We were talking about Christmas gifts last night and how we don't want to do gifts this year because of the extra spending we will have- he just looked at me with this cute look and said "I gave you a gift that will last a lifetime" and poked my stomach.  I don't know why but I thought it was adorable.

  • @mrsschmity good luck with the job! I found out I was pregnant a week before I received a job offer at the startup I work at. I still haven't told them yet. Their fault for dragging out the interview process I guess. What kind of jobs are you looking at that are cool with you starting now and leaving in 6 months?
& I am 27 and 13+3 and my doc scheduled my NT scan with a 12 week scan kind of matter of factly. He's always like, okay, and in 4 weeks we'll see you for this and this test. He's a magician and delivered all of my friends' kids so I just assume he has my best interest in mind and go with the flow. If you trust that your doc does as well then I wouldn't worry.

How far along are you: 13+3
Rants/Raves/Symptoms: I thought MS was over and done with after 2 weeks of no symptoms and now I've been dry heaving the past 2 mornings right after brushing my teeth. Very annoying!
What are you doing to get ready for baby? Am I the only one not doing anything yet? Until 12 weeks I was so incredibly anxious about seeing the baby and finding out that everything was okay I could barely think about anything else. Now I'm more focused on pants that fit than where this baby is fitting in my NYC apartment. I'm very much taking things as they come.
Questions? Any one have suggestions on where to by cute bathing suits? All my suits are bikinis and we are going away during christmas and that's just not going to happen.
GTKY: I'm feeling a tiny bit sappy today. Share something cute your SO has done recently. He's just an angel this entire pregnancy so far. He  nicknamed our baby Poppy when we found out we were pregnant since it was the size of a poppy seed and he talks about it like I have a little friend while he is traveling for work. 'What did you and Poppy have for dinner?'
  • @lshamah Thanks! I don't like the thought of starting a new job at 4-5 months pregnant and then taking leave 3-4 months after that, but I don't really have a choice at this point. The team that I currently work with is getting laid off at the end of this month.

The potential companies I'm looking at have no idea that I'm pregnant, and I have no intention of telling them until after I've been offered a position, so I don't know how they feel about me taking leave in June lol But like I said, I don't really have any other option. I can't afford to be unemplyed for the next 5-6 months until after baby comes.
  • @emztron500 I had to look up that reference--whoa, that's some interesting stuff right there.  Now that I understand the reference, I can see why you'd feel that way.  It's likely everything's fine with your lo in there, though. Keeping you in my thoughts. Let us know how it goes, okay?

What are you doing to get ready for baby? Hmmm. Eating a lot of bacon? Pretty sure he's gonna come out squealing. Seriously though--planning his room decor. That's about it for the moment.

Questions? Anyone else having heinous nosebleeds??

GTKY: DH has been a saint and tackled a long to-do list this weekend, including raking leaves, finishing painting DS's room (the older one, not the baby), hanging Christmas lights, etc. I definitely appreciated it.

  • @alileecam omg, is that definitely a pregnancy thing?  I had 3 the other night!  What a night!  So annoying!  I get them easily in general but haven't had any in a while, let alone 3 within 9 hours.

Rants/Raves/Symptoms: On Sunday I had some bleeding scares so I saw my doctor yesterday. It was so awesome to see that our baby was still safe and moving around like a champ. I did find out the I have Placenta Previa so I am on pelvic rest until it (hopefully) moves up. I know there are so many worse things but I am super bummed. I was very active before I got pregnant, the MS knocked me on my butt and I was just feeling better and now I still really can't do anything.

Also I found out that I basically don't get any maternity leave, just my vacation, sick time and short term disability. Thanks for nothing!!
What are you doing to get ready for baby? Thinking about names =)
    Questions? not today

GTKY: I'm feeling a tiny bit sappy today. Share something cute your SO has done recently. He has done everything and is so helpful and excited. Recently he took my car in and got the tags updated, I was SOOOO grateful.
  • @ella26 I was so bummed when I was on bedrest with my daughter. I am usually all about exercise... Anyway, it gets easier. You develop a rhythm. Good luck!!
