Hey all!
I am really struggling with a middle name for my future daughter. Her name will be Tilly. I just cant find one that fits and doesn't give her bad intials. My last name is Rose. I initially liked Tilly Ann, but then her initials would be TA, I cant do that. Help!? Not due til March so still have some time.
Re: Middle names help?
DD1 - BFP 7/23/15 (EDD 3/31/16). "We believe in you rainbow" DOB 4/2/16
DD2 - BFP 2/9/18 (EDD 10/19/18). "Grow baby grow!" DOB 10/24/18
BFP 11/16/20 (EDD 7/31/21). "Round 3 FIGHT!"
We're naming our little girl Alexandra Lynn, and our last name begins with an F...so ALF...the tv alien ant eater looking guy. I'm sure my brother will call her Alf from time to time since he loved that show as a kid, but whatever.
ETA- except on offical paperwork I've never actually written my middle initial. Even in school it was just first and last. Seems to be the same with my kids now (just first and last initial). 9 times out of 10 they just write their first name and the number the teacher assigns at the beginning of the year.
I agree with PP. I never recall anyone ever referring to my first two initials (AK) for any reason. If ever my initials were used it was my first, middle and last or just my first and last. I think you're over thinking the TA thing. She will always be TAR or just TR.
I think the ONLY time middle initials come into play is mostly for boys going by initials? IE my nephew is Aiden James (could be AJ in the future), etc.
ETA: If you're looking for similar middle name suggestions, I'd check out the Baby Name board - a lot of good resources there!

My brother immediately made the connection when I told him her name, though, and we had a good laugh over it. Hey, if that's the worst thing someone can make out of her name, she'll be doing pretty well.
DS2 due 12/12/18
OP, unless you plan on giving your kid the initials WTF or STFU or LOL or something like that, I really wouldn't put too much thought into this. No one at a middle school or high school level is going to make fun of someone's first and middle initial simply because they won't even know them.
There is no avenue for that to be a thing because middle names are virtually of no consequence in school. I doubt any teacher ever even knew my middle name - it's not like they say it in class. I think even If her first and last initial were T&A you're still kind of reaching for straws in the "make fun of" department.
I don't doubt you that kids can be cruel - I had a boy call me Amanda Penis because of my last name. My maiden name was a body part but not something even close to what could be considered male genitalia. Kids will make up stuff to be funny, they don't need initials to do that for them.

Of course, my son's initials are BJPC. My sister in law actually called me in the hospital asking me to reconsider naming him BJ. He'll never be "BJ" though; it will always be BC or BJPC at the most. I do think initials are important if they spell something or if they have meaning to you that you don't like. Otherwise, do like I did, and shrug it off. Our LO's initials will be REDC (Red C? Red Sea?)...I think you can read a great deal into anything.
I like Tilly with a longer middle name, especially since you have a short last name.
Tilly Eleanor
Tilly Elizabeth
Tilly Katharine
Tilly Maryanne

Good luck!!
I personally love your first choice of Tilly Anne!!!
I also like: Tilly Nichole, Tilly Elisabeth and the idea of Matilda Anne and call her Tilly!
Yeah, I think you're overthinking the initials thing. I didn't even think of T&A when I saw TA. Hell, I wouldn't have thought of it if I looked at T&A. I honestly think you don't have to worry about that. Kids will find some other way to make fun of her other than her first and middle name initials.
