And I'm game on a book club just give me some time to crank out this current read (about halfway right now)

Same!! I just started pride and prejudice so I have to finish that!! Anyone else?
Do you like it? I got into a heated debate with a teacher about it once! Let me know when you finish!
I do so far! It's very "gossipy" in its tone... Which makes it fun! The mother is such a busy body and the father is so dry/sarcastically comical. Can't wait for it to get into the daughters a little more... Except that when I read "jane" my mind immediately thinks of my "queen" Jane from my last book... Gah! Eta @iceandsnowflakes29
    Just wait! Squeee

Love me some P&P! I was debating whether or not to re-read Outlander but I haven't started the first one yet. I haven't been reading anything for the past couple of weeks because I took up knitting and I can't do both at the same time #nerdproblems. I think I might download audible so I can read while I knit. Wow, I sound like I'm 100. Totally down for a book club! We could have a weekly check-in thread to discuss. This would be a great TTC distraction!

  • @teamginger13 Good luck these next few cycles! Rooting for you.
  • Yay books and yay outlander!

Too many in the convo for me to remember to tag on mobile, but I can't NOT express my love/obsession for outlander whenever it comes up.

And to whoever was taking about rereading, consider the audiobooks. I've read the series twice and listened once. The audiobooks take me longer but the narrator is fantastic.

Also, I'm down for a book club! I may or may not have a spreadsheet to track my books. My cousin and I also share recommendations through Goodreads, though I have to admit I am woefully out of date there!

I keep a spreadsheet too! I also do Goodreads and have a hard time remembering to update it. I usually end up using my spreadsheet to go back and add the last few that I missed :)

R/R/CS: it's not ttc related, but I have a wisdom tooth trying to come in and ouch.

GTKY: Are you going away for the Holidays or staying at home? Going anywhere fun?! I think h's parents are coming to spend a couple of days with us. They're wonderful, but I'd prefer to go there instead. I hve put up zero Christmas stuff and don't really want to get any of it out of the attic.

Also, @MRSCORKER @iceandsnowflakes29 @BerkeBaby and @gardeniagirlknits I'd love to be part of the book club, too please! I'm in a local book club with about 6 other friends, and it's been so much fun! We meet about every 6 weeks to eat somewhere tasty and discuss our book. It's really been good bc I have read some books that I otherwise wouldn't have.

@MRSCORKER I also have audible, and I love it! I was driving 12 hours each way to visit my dad while he was sick a couple of years ago and now I'm hooked. It kept me from stressing so much about traffic  I listen now while I do housework and such. I think there's usually a code floating around for a free trial if you wanted to try it.

  • @sldp123 - I KNEW there was somebody else going to RE today & I couldn't remember who.....missed your post with my first post. @severmilli12 - to both of you ladies please know we are all here for you & rooting for you & awaiting update when you are ready to share. @gardeniagirlknits - I can't really compare myself to you because I have not walked in your shoes but I can totally relate to feeling what if I can't give him what he wants?? I hope that you are able to find strength in this community & anything else you see appropriate to get through the holidays. I know it's hard.....been feeling a little like a Grinch myself here & there. Hugs to all of you ladies!
  • @MRSCORKER @iceandsnowflakes29 @BerkeBaby @gardeniagirlknits @khbear117 @ChelleCPA (and anyone else I forgot...) I would LOVE to get in on a book club!

I really wanted to follow up with everyone today, but this thread got super long, and it's kind of late.  I just wanted to say I'm thinking of yall this evening!

  • @MRSCORKER and @ChelleCPA - gotta second the love for Audible!  I use it when I go on really long training walks.  Especially when the book is extra creepy (I almost exclusively read mysteries)-- makes me walk faster!

  • @iceandsnowflakes29 and @gardeniagirlknits - I have a degree in English literature. My senior seminar was Jane Austen novels. LOVE Pride and Prejudice! I would TOTALLY be up for a book club! I'm always looking for new books to read and adults to talk about them with!

@MRSCORKER - I have not read The Outlander series, but have been told I need to.
  • I would totally be in for a book club.

@MRSCORKER @iceandsnowflake29 @gardeniagirlknits @berkebaby Have you ladies read Phillipa Gregory? Probably her most famous is The Other Boleyn Girl (Read the book, don't see the movie. It didn't do it justice at all). But I really liked the Bolelyn Inheritance, and she has other good ones as well. I also am really into Henry VIII fiction and LOVED the Tudors.

I have a BA in English Literature as well. I started a MA in English and quit - womp womp. I started to have second thoughts and doubts about it because "can quote and analyze Shakespeare" doesn't exactly sell a resume in my experience :(

GTKY: Are you going away for the Holidays or staying at home? Going anywhere fun?! Just staying home. All our family lives in the area, so no need to travel.

  • @iceandsnowflakes29 - But I bet you can analyze the crap out of anything. ;) "Can analyze Shakespeare" only looks good for teaching resumes. Trust me. Haha! I've been thinking about a second masters, but just can't decide. A book club would be a great distraction from TTC and grading papers. :)

  • I'm so late to the book discussion, but I also have an English BA, loooove the War of the Roses and Tudor eras (I read all the Phillipa Gregory books, plus a few others, and watched the Tudors and the White Queen, next is Wolf Hall), and would totally be in for a book group!

As for the Pride and Prejudice discussion, all I have to say is:
    image
DD born PPROM preemie at 36 weeks on 10/1/17 after over a year TI,
then 3 failed IUIs, and finally a successful IVF FET.

Due with #2 5/2/19 after HIO once in my FW,
because apparently that's how life works now. Team Blue!

  • @mrsdee15 Wolf Hall is great. It's very dense but more historically accurate if I'm remembering correctly!
I used to like Philipa Gregory a lot, I think it was "The Other Boleyn Girl" that got me into historical fiction about a decade ago. I haven't read anything of hers in a long time.

R/R/CS: Depo screwed my body up so bad. Spent the first four months of my marriage (literally everyday for four months) with AF. After those first four months I had AF every other week and then finally had a text book 28 day cycle and O'd on cycle day 16 with a BFN two weeks later. Then my next cycle was 18 days w no O, next cycle 16 days w no O. SO discouraging!!!!

GTKY: Are you going away for the Holidays or staying at home? Going anywhere fun?!
DH has family in KY that we always go visit the week before Christmas. I absolutely love it there... Wish we could just up and move there to get away from the concrete jungle we live in!!

My personal favorite Colin Firth role! P&P is a wonderful read, especially when you take everything Lizzy says as sarcasm/snark.

If you every want a good/fun parody try Pride & Predjuice & Zombies.

  • @anj27 wow peeing right on the Wondfos? I don't know if I could manage that without making a huge mess! I wish I could pull that off. Maybe someday.
@jhems776 I don't think you're silly for thinking so much about it! I'm obviously too chicken to even have tested at work yet... I like your misdirection technique with your phone!
@HelloKT Using the same water cups as the water cooler is another good idea!
    @MrsDho11 thanks! :)
@gardeniagirlknits sorry you're having a tough time. *hugs*  Also, the more times I reread Pride and Prejudice, the more I like it. <3
@artlessibex I like your style. I might have to test that out and see if I can pull of the flattening with the paper cups I have.
@jellybiehn if you figure out a good smuggling technique let me know!
