After reading everything I want pierogies now! My g-grandmother grew up in Poland so we've always had good Polish food when we spend time with that side of the family. DH still isn't sold on the kielbasa but thats just his loss, right?
How far along are you: 11w3d
Rants/Raves/Symptoms: I'm thinking the MS has finally left the building (yay). Going on day 4 of no vomit, day 2 of next to no nausea. It has been replaced by crazy levels of bloating and so much tiredness. This is basically me right now...
What are you doing to get ready for baby?: I swear I'm going to clean the office out this week and put all the boxes that are in the closet into the attic.
GTKY: What is your favorite hobby?: I go back and forth as to what I'm really focused on, I'll sew like crazy for a few weeks, then chill on that and read a few good books, then I'll crochet every night for a little while, switch to knitting, then to something I've never tried before, repeat the cycle once you've realized you want to do the first thing a lot again.

Totally his loss. You can't have pierogies without the kielbasa!! Well, you can. But kielbasa and pierogies is like peanut butter and jelly. They just go together
@crdo Can you and your DH come put the lights up on our house? Lol! Neither one of us are excited about hte idea of climbing on the roof or using a tall ladder. Scary!
Rants/Raves/Symptoms: As I'm approaching 2nd Tri I have lost the MS for the most part, but I have definitely gained an increased appetite! I no longer need to eat to quell the nausea but I do need to eat out of starvation that rears its head every 2-3 hours! Restless leg Syndrome at night is in full effect, my right leg seems to go numb from my bum all the way to my toes... its quite uncomfortable and my chest is SUPER sore but overall I'm feeling pretty great.
What are you doing to get ready for baby? WORKING and trying not to spend a fortune Christmas shopping on everyone else when we have a baby to save for (impossible task with such a large family). Our 12 week Ultrasound is on Friday - yay! Also I told all of my girlfriends on Friday night, they were all very excited for us & I feel a great relief that I am no longer keeping such a secret from them (only place I'm keeping it from at this point is work) we've now entered the, not publicly announcing, but not hiding it anymore phase
Questions: None!
GTKY: What is your favorite hobby? These days its napping whenever I can I belong to a book club but I've never been much of a reader on my own, I work 50+ hour weeks and have a big family, so any down time I have in the evenings or weekends is spending time with my DH, or visiting family & friends! In the summers I love to ride my beach cruiser and walk on the beach, no matter what time of day.
What are you doing to get ready for baby? Making dollah bills, y'all! I did get a pump from a friend and a free tub last week. WOOT!
Questions? Nope!
GTKY: What is your favorite hobby? Reading, spending time outside (which, in MN, is for a glorious four months out of the year ), and landscaping/gardening
I'm in MN also, and I am in complete disbelief at how "warm" of a winter we're having so far - at least where I live. In previous years we've already been out on the lakes ice fishing!
I KNOW! It's been amazing! I'm just waiting for January and the insanity to hit, but I'm totally enjoying the warmth now
@crdo Can you and your DH come put the lights up on our house? Lol! Neither one of us are excited about hte idea of climbing on the roof or using a tall ladder. Scary!
Sure, haha! The second story of my house has dormers on the front elevation, so I only put icicles along the first story roofline, with my ladder firmly on the ground--ain't climbing higher than that!
I did see a handy tool at home depot that is an extendable pole (don't recall the length) that is made for use from the ground to place lights and gutter clips at a second story roofline. Maybe worth looking into?
@mrsschmity: Not your traditional "concert" but I got us tickets to the National Chinese Symphony Orchestra at the Kennedy Center (D.C.) to celebrate 10 years together. DH loves world instruments so he's really excited. He collects and plays a lot of them too.

Rants/Raves/Symptoms: Feeling pretty much the same today. Have a slight headache and my hips and tailbone have been hurting. Not much other than that. Rave- Going to The Melting Pot for ladies night tonight. I always get excited about new restaurants. Rant- I really want to take a Bradley childbirth class but the closest one is an hour away and is $300. DH is not quite giving me a hard time but seems a little under-enthused about the time for travel, length of course, and cost. I'm just like COME ON!! It's really important to me, so I know he's game. I just wish he wasn't making me feel so guilty about "making" him (he hasn't said this, I just feel this way).
What are you doing to get ready for baby? Nothing new today.
Questions? None.
GTKY: What is your favorite hobby? I absolutely love cooking.
My gut feeling is that I'm really a few days behind what my LMP is telling me, based on when I ovulated and that I used to have a 30-31 day cycle vs 28. Not that a few days matters by any means, but if my doctor doesn't do an ultrasound until 20 weeks (standard practice) how do they know baby is growing and progressing as he/she should be?
How far along are you: 13 weeks and 5 days Rants/Raves/Symptoms: Rant: All my "rants" are silent right now because I'm just worried about our dog's surgery tomorrow. I know it will be fine but I'm still a nervous Nelly. Rave: H was freaking adorable yesterday night (and maybe a little tipsy)...he came to bed so sweet and loving. Wrapped his arms around me, told me how much he loved me and wanted the best for me and our baby and held my hand while we fell asleep. It was really, really cute and he's allowed to drink any day of the week if I get that kind of love. What are you doing to get ready for baby? Trying to finish our house remodel (we still have the bathroom to go). GTKY: What is your favorite hobby? Other than internet surfing? I love our dog and things related to him and love cooking too.
@mrsschmity - I just got my first ultrasound and was told that I was measuring 11w exactly when I know when I ovulated and that I was only 10w5d. They moved up my EDD, but it was only a few days, so it's really no big deal. For my entire u/s, the screen actually displayed 16w due to my LMP, but from conversations with my OB, he already knew that it was inaccurate. I read somewhere (this board, I think) that most ultrasounds have a range of +/- 5d? I'm not sure how reliable that is, but I'd bet that it won't make a difference if your LMP is 2-3 days behind your actual O-date.
@mrsschmity - I don't know the answer to that so hopefully someone else does. I wouldn't think a few days would make a big difference for development the further along you get but defer to more experienced posters. I do know I ovulate late in my cycle and have the same issue you think you have. My doctor did an ultrasound at 8 weeks (LMP) and told me I was not 8 weeks at that point and was more like 7 weeks and 2 days (which is pretty much dead on where I thought I was based on ovulation). I think they have to do an early ultrasound to get precise measurements like that though.
BakerBird525 - I love the Kennedy Center, especially this time of year! When DD gets older, I'm sure she'll get her fill of Handel's Messiah and The Nutcracker.
@mrsschmity My DD measured a week behind through every ultrasound but they never adjusted my due date or anything. She ended up arriving two days early.
This baby is measuring 4 days behind but my doc said that what they measure right now really doesn't matter and it is the 20 week scan where they see the most. For now they kinda look like blobs and stuff.
You will be offered the blood tests to check is there anything genetically they can spot and I was told last time that it is that which would be the most reliable indicator of "progression" or "possible issues" until 20 weeks.

I've heard +/- 5 days for u/s too. On a few pictures people have posted it says their estimated gestational age +/- 4 days on the image so maybe it's gotten better since then. Either way, a few days off isn't going to throw things totally out of whack. It's all an estimate as it is which is why I hate the term "due date" because it isn't really, its an estimate, that's all.
Started a new job today and I am so tired. I don't know how I plan on continuing this work thing through this whole pregnancy. I know that I don't have a choice, but its so hard. I have a little more energy than 1st trimester but I'm still not at 100%.
How far along are you: 11w1d Rants/Raves/Symptoms: Food still does not sound good but I did cook dinner for the first time in 7 weeks last night and was able to eat it! What are you doing to get ready for baby? Reading Questions? Why did we think building a house, a new vet clinic (hubby) and having a baby all in one year was a good idea???? Each of those is a full time job in themselves! GTKY: What is your favorite hobby? Travel. Hubby and I love to travel and we generally do one big trip a year and a few small ones. No big trip on the agenda till after our house is built in April and baby in June but 2 weeks in Europe is on the agenda next.
@mrsschmity I kind of thought the same thing as I haven't had an ultrasound yet either. When my doc did my first "real" appointment and felt my uterus, she simply said, "yeah, it feels the right size for 11 weeks" and I just went with it!! Usually they won't move your due date unless they think it's off by like a week anyway as far as I understood. Most of it is just good guessing anyway.
Rants/Raves/Symptoms: Today is the first day in over a week I haven't tossed my cookies. It's only noon so fingers crossed it lasts. I need to go to the grocery store and it's pouring ass rain outside. If it was just me no big deal but lugging two kids out in the rain is no fun.
What are you doing to get ready for baby? Nothing yet really. We have so much already since it's our third. I have been looking at cloth diapers but I'm still waiting to find out the sex to really take the plunge.
Questions? Is it second tri yet? I really want to feel better.
GTKY: What is your favorite hobby? I like to sew but have very little time for it now
Rants/Raves/Symptoms: We had our second appointment today and heard and saw the heartbeat! He did an ultrasound first to show us baby is healthy since the doppler can take a couple minutes to locate the heartbeat. Baby actually looks like a baby now! He/she was moving their little arms and legs all around!
What are you doing to get ready for baby? Saving and looking at the important items. That's about it for now
Questions? None today
GTKY: What is your favorite hobby? I love to read but currently don't have a lot of time too with school and work
@PressLove - Ouu, I've never seen The Nutcracker! I would love to go see it. I don't think I've ever been to the Kennedy Center unless we went on a field trip in school so I'm looking forward to it!

@mrsschmity the appt went great! Baby is measuring exactly 12w and was quite the active little one! It sat still just long enough for a picture that I'm going to post in the ultrasound thread. As a FTM I've definitely learned that anxiety is just part of the day to day life now something I'm sure will stay long after little baby is here
Rants/Raves/Symptoms: Rant - My students were being complete asses today. Sometimes I ask my BF why we both work with adolescents. They're driving me crazy and we've got 2 weeks before break. Rave-i get to hear my sweet girl's heart beating on Wednesday. Symptoms - My 1st trimester Symptoms are going away but now I've got a glorious cold.
What are you doing to get ready for baby? We are getting ready to start building on and making adjustments with pets and storage. This will allow us to rip up carpet and get going on a nursery.
Rants/Raves/Symptoms: Tired of an understatement. I just came down with another sinus infection today. Sore throat, headache, congestion, exhaustion, the whole nine yards. Teaching was rough today. Tomorrow just might be a sick day. This was me after work...
What are you doing to get ready for baby? Working, saving money, and planning to buy a new car soon.

@mrsschmity homemade pierogies sounds like my family!! When I first started cooking dinner for my family that was one of my go-to meals. Pierogies and kielbasa Mmm We are Lithuanian!
How far along are you: I think I'm going to be 11 weeks on Wednesday but will find out for sure on Thursday. I had to cancel my dating ultrasound because my son was in the hospital. Rants/Raves/Symptoms: Nausea at night and don't feel like eating much. Wish I had more energy for work (teacher) and with my kids at home. What are you doing to get ready for baby? Nothing really... I bought an outfit yesterday for baby and some maternity yoga pants for me to lounge around in when at home. Questions?- nope... 3rd pregnancy so nothing new yet GTKY: What is your favorite hobby? ... Playing with my kids maybe... Does that count? lol I am always planning lessons for school. I teach 4th grade language arts special education.

About the peeing....it's a million percent normal and will happen more often as we progress through PG. blame the glorious muscles that are going nutso in your lady bits. And probably the hormone, relaxin, too. It occasionally gets worse after delivery and never goes away. I've done 482988382 kegels and I still pee a little when I sneeze (usually if my bladder is really full, but still....)
@maddvollmer unfortunately I still Sniss since my DD was born last year. I am frequently seen diving to a seated position or crossing my legs in the middle of a car park just to stop said Sniss. I remember a time when I had dignity... That was awesome.
Rants/Raves/Symptoms: I've been sick with some kind of cold/flu/plague for over two weeks. Or maybe it's two things back to back. I was getting better, then got worse over the weekend. I've spent the last two days coughing so hard it's making me throw up. Also, TMI, but the coughing is making me have to change my underwear several times a day. I gave up on panty liners and am using pads since yesterday. I feel awful and gross and tired. I'm seeing my doctor tomorrow morning.
What are you doing to get ready for baby? Nothing really. I kinda sorta started researching double strollers.
Questions? None
GTKY: What is your favorite hobby? Painting my nails, coloring those grown up coloring books, and knitting.
Rants/Raves/Symptoms: Had my second appt today. Baby's heart rate sounded good. Headaches and lower back pain. I think it's time for a trip to the eye doctor. What are you doing to get ready for baby? Getting all the stuff I need hubby around for out of the way. 14w1d Raving that DH is coming home early from work training/certifications!!! No questions. Nothing new from yesterday's check-in as far as prepping for baby. As far as a hobby goes, I'm lucky that my hobbies are also my paid jobs. I love ice skating and I get to teach little kids to skate. And I love sewing and creating costumes, and I get to make my students look all sorts of fancy!!

Right there with you with the active part! I love cuddling under a blanket with a good book!
Also, did you know that our eyes get super crappy during PG? A trip to the eye doctor might be good, but not sure they can do anything....unless you want a temp fix :-/ lame!!
Rants/Raves/Symptoms: Stuck at home with the stomach flu last weekend. Yuck! My pregnancy nausea has started to disappear, but so far this week it seems to be back!
What are you doing to get ready for baby? Cleaned out the closet in the soon to be nursery and reorganized other closets.
Questions? I need a good way to fight fatigue at work!

Rants/Raves/Symptoms: Nausea at night and don't feel like eating much. Wish I had more energy for work (teacher) and with my kids at home.

Questions?- nope... 3rd pregnancy so nothing new yet

Rants/Raves/Symptoms:
I've been sick with some kind of cold/flu/plague for over two weeks.
Scheduled a sex identification ultrasound, have my hospital tour this week and CPR class right after the new year.
GTKY: What is your favorite hobby? Knitting and sleeping. I wish it was something more active.

Raving that DH is coming home early from work training/certifications!!!
Also, did you know that our eyes get super crappy during PG? A trip to the eye doctor might be good, but not sure they can do anything....unless you want a temp fix :-/ lame!!
