Monday Bitchfest

I know we've probably all bitched about this at some point, but it's 10:45. I got here for my 10:15 appointment at 10 am. I still haven't been called back. Usually I'm laid back with this, but I'm so hungry and I forgot a snack.

Also, I'm ready to be done peeing in cups.

Re: Monday Bitchfest

  • Exactly! Apparently my stream is just all over the place. And I have to put my pants all the way down to my ankles. It's a mess.

  • Haha about peeing on your hand.  I did that at last weeks appt.  I mean seriously, could the cups be any smaller?

I'm fed up with everything happening all at once!  Had preterm labor to deal with around Thanksgiving, families wanting to visit when I feel like crap, getting new appliances in the kitchen because having your oven and refrigerator BOTH crap out right at the holidays is a lot of fun, 5 billion doctor appts every week (I'm high risk), 3 kids with crazy sports schedules and now we have a major electrical issue at our house that is causing things not to work (our washer/dryer, our furnace, microwave, lights are constantly dim) and our electrical supplier is in no rush to do their job so my electrician (my dad) can fix the problem.  So we wait!  Thank god I am ready baby wise and I have all my Christmas shopping done and wrapped but I can't take much more!

Wow, thanks for letting me get that out!

  • So I'm an army wife, in the sense that my husband is in the army only. For us, it's just his job. I do not iron or take care of uniform stuff past laundry and dropping off and picking up the occasional dry cleaning. Well last night he asked me to bring his uniform to a tailor to have his new rank sewn on. I don't know where it goes and was so worried about giving the wrong directions. He assures me that they go right where the old ones go. OK I can handle that. He apparently needs it done ASAP because potentially he will need to wear his dress uniform soon, but has no actual date.

Last night I asked him to put out everything I need to do this and he said he did. This morning, I am making sure I have the new rank patches, and low and behold they aren't with everything else. I was soooooooo angry. He was very lucky they were with his other uniform stuff.

It's such a silly thing to be mad about but he could literally get talked to if his uniform isn't perfect and I don't want to be responsible for that!!!
  • @stephaniearthurs I feel your pain. I ruined a few of my husbands uniforms and destroyed our washer/dryer in the last apartment. He now likes to wash his own uniforms haha. Also most dry cleaners that cator to military have all of the supplies you need. Just tell them what rank he is and they'll do everything else. :)

My BF today is that I made cinnamon rolls for breakfast..my husband took all of the rolls with extra frosting with him and left me the dry ones.. -_-
  • I'm with all of you on the peeing at the doctor thing. Last week at my appointment, I missed most of it because I couldn't see under my belly. I only managed to get a few drops in. Thankfully, it was still enough for them to get what they needed.
  • @ecotton1234 that is terrible! I'd be losing it too!!
My bf is my husband working doubles & my son acting like a maniac regarding Christmas ("how many days?" "Is Santa real?" "Am I a good boy?" Followed by a complete meltdown no matter what I answer). I think the pressure is getting to us both!
2 weeks til my section can't go by fast enough!!
  • Mine is questions about if the nursery is finished. People keep asking me about it and I tell them I am not decorating since we are in a rental and are moving before the baby is a year old. The rental has white carpet and white walls, every nail is inventoried by the landlord and the nursery has painted over wallpaper so I am not even trying command hooks, as a result I wont be hanging anything. I can't decide if a glider would be worth the space it would take. The fitted sheet is about the most decorative item that will be in the room. Do most people in rentals still have elaborately themed nurseries?
  • DD is 2 and is a walking germfest and it's getting really old.  She has given me at least 2 colds and 1 stomach bug in the past few months. Well this past weekend she gave me another stomach bug so I ended up in labor and delivery having to get fluids. I was having contractions that were 5 minutes apart so I started to get excited until I realized it was because I was dehydrated. I don't know if I can take 1 more sickness at this point.

I'm at my ultrasound specialist's and got here 15 min early on purpose because I have another baby appointment in 1.5 hours. A couple JUST rolled in and got to go back right away, even though is past my appt time.

ETA: I usually don't mind delayed appointments because it often means someone had a problem or the person before be is more urgent. But I've had an unbeatable itch all over and am stressed that my OB office said to come in tomorrow, not today. They know what's best, but I can't help worrying

I rent right now, and we will be moving in a year and a half, so we did not paint. I did hang wall decals up in our theme, and his name in wooden letters on the wall. I think it's fine that you don't have a theme. It's more for the mom then the baby any way, so if you don't mind what does it matter.

As for a glider, I personally thing they are worth it!!

  • @ToneGirl I'm with ya on everything happening all at once!

I had a major meltdown yesterday because DH decided to rearrange the furniture in our living room while I was at church with the kids. It was just too much for me in that moment. I accidentally backed into someone's car the weekend before while leaving a store, and the cost of repairs was about $1000, (DH wanted to just pay out of pocket, rather than have our insurance premiums increase) so I've been stressing about how to pay for that, plus rent, plus all the bills that are due this week, plus necessities like groceries, plus get Christmas shopping done before LO arrives. On top of that I don't feel prepared for baby as my house is still mostly a disaster...there is no space in our room to put even a small cradle for baby to sleep in...the car seat is home, but not clean enough for my liking after the last kid finished using it...laundry is pulled out of storage but not washed yet...oh, and my hospital bag is only partly packed with only about a week and a half left until my EDD! Ahh!! It's crunch time, and I was super annoyed the DH thought that should get done instead of helping with the things that actually need to be finished. Plus...now I don't know where to put the Christmas tree :(

Tell me about it. I had dimples in my feet because they were so swollen. But after about a week and a half mine disappeared overnight, I could see my ankles again. It was pretty great. Lol
  • My DH didn't want us to buy or put up a tree during his two week paternity leave (which ended today) for no real discernible reason. I told him my plan was to get one this week and he got all cranky and said I can't lift anything that heavy yet (I know, that's why i wanted to do it while he was home). I'm super frustrated because I know he'll not want to get one on the weekend since he generally dislikes running errands on his days off which I understand - his weeks are long - but I'm not sure when he thinks it's going to happen. Maybe Santa will just magic a tree into our living room >:(

  • I'm really over hemorrhoids.

Like seriously, I'd rather have morning sickness again. These things are the worst.
  • @TomekiaB
I'm also in a rental apt. Some things that I took into consideration when deciding how much/little to do in the nursery area had to do with some of basic renting laws for my state. When we do move out it will be after we have lived here over 2years. After 2 years the landlord is required to repaint and professionally clean or replace carpets (for new tennants). The landlord can not take this from my security deposit.
I decided to put in good shelving, and will putty the holes when we move out. I chose not to paint b/c I just don't really like to do it, and nursery is shared with SOs office/music space. I used wall decals from a store on etsy called trendy peas. I really liked how they will customize color choices for you. Also, the decals are pretty durable, they will come out a.o.k if repackaged correctly for a move. In the end it's pretty mimimalist, but it will work well until we move in the upcoming September.
  • Can I bitch about my hormones now? I have been a hot mess today. After being at the doctor for 2.5 hours my blood sugar dropped leaving me really shaky. I got food, but I still feel weird. The doctor also did a cervical exam and is slightly concerned baby hasn't dropped more, but at least my cervix is progressing (slightly). So now I'm paranoid about having a c section. Then I went off the road a little and noticed my car leaking on that side. So in the end I just started bawling. Been bawling off and on for an hour.
  • I am sooooo over my 3 year old's temper tantrums lately.  Most of the time it is because he is hungry, but he gets so involved in things that he won't eat enough to keep him stable.  When you try to offer him something he politely says, "no thank you mommy, I all done."  Like that helps in not making me mad.  It infuriates me.  Just eat some f&*$ing food so I don't have to listen to you whine and cry!!

  • I always feel so self-conscious peeing in those cups. The nurses with my first OB for my daughter would always make a point to let me know if my pee was too yellow and get on me about drinking lots of water. This OB's nurses really don't comment except for "urine looks good. No glucose or protein," but I think I'd prefer them hound me about hydration!

My MIL has decided to start texting me every two days asking how I'm doing and telling me she's thinking of me. "Oh you've just been on my mind everyday!" The other day, she actually texted my DH and then me again later when I didn't reply (because I was working and then grocery shopping and then making dinner). In my head, I'm answering, "Listen, either I'm feeling really uncomfortable and in pain, or just fat and too big for even my maternity clothes. Those are really the only two options. If it's anything else, I'm in labor, and I promise, we'll let you know. Also, where is my rock and play sleeper?" She's really sweet. I'm just hormonal and bitchy. My own mother, every time I call her, she answers with "Are you in labor?!" Every. Time. I could call her 3 times in one day, and she will say the same thing.

After a relatively painless (but still roly-poly-feeling) week and weekend, my inexplicably painful cramping/BH contractions have returned today, on a day/week that I just need to get all of my projects for work done so I can have a stress-free few days before my EDD.

Not helping is the fact that one of my colleagues is consistently effing up projects and reports, and because my boss is at his wit's end, he's having me be the "fixer." (I mean, I'm usually the fixer, but now he's having me also document what I'm fixing). Which is totally fine with me, except I also have my own deadlines!
  • Today is my first day of mat leave (much to me wanting to work until I'm due in 5 days)
I've been binge watching Reign on Netflix and getting way too into it, crying on my SO because I just want everyone to get along!
  • I'm so hormonal it's unreal.

My husband shot his fist deer of the season yesterday (yay hubby!) so he has a friend over cutting it all up and putting it in the freezer. Unfortunately our dog can't be outside because it would make him super sick if he got into any of the gook so he's been whinning nonstop for the past 3 hours or so to the point where I had to put him in our basement just to calm him down because a walk, special treat didn't work. I had to CARRY him up and down the stairs and he must be 30+ pounds now. I've completely over exerted myself today and have a strange feeling I really messed up and should have taken it easier because I already felt crappy.

On top of all that I got into a fight with my internet/phone company because they keep randomly charging me money. (My bills cycle is on the 16th but they charge me 2 weeks before that and turn off my service every time when I have NO overdue balance) so I'm yelling at these people when my husband has a friend over and look like a complete nut case to everyone involved but I have a phone interview tomorrow (double yay) so I really can't be messing around without service. Why is life so hard??
  • Can I just bitch about being 40&5 today. It sucks terribly and I feel like my body doesn't know what to do :(

I don't like to be touched. I realize there is a lot of touching that happens to a pregnant woman. But I like to be told i'm about to be touched, what's going to happen and what i need to do to relax. It's on my chart. If you need to do any kind of a non-emergency internal exam, you need to tell me when you're doing it, how you're doing it and ask me if i'm ready.

And I get this OB nurse who says "I'm going to check and see if you're dilated now, lie back and open up" and then, without telling me anything or giving me any warning, crams her hand up inside me like she's going for a bouquet at a freaking wedding. And I yelped. And she said "You'd better get used to it because you're due soon. And I ended up apologizing to HER for being so jumpy and she says "Well some people are just Like That" and.. that kind of irked me. Yeah. I am Like That. It says so on my chart. It says I get a bit edgy when i am manhandled.

Look i get it. It's a procedure that I have to have done. I just wish she'd looked at my chart that clearly states that the patient is edgy about being touched, please tell her EXACTLY what you're about to do and use some caution and care when doing it. There are certain approaches that freak me out. Getting fisted is one.

So maybe i'm being a big wimp but i'm pissed off about it.

@groovylocks have you discussed declining internal exams with your provider? If you're low risk it's highly likely you can turn them down. You can be effaced and starting to dilate and still go over your due date.

ETA I totally feel your pain, though. My OB has large manly hands and it was hell when she had to apply the internal fetal monitor after my water broke. At one point I swear both of her hands were in there. It wasn't nice.
  • @sarahgn - so as a rule, I know I should get them and even though dilation is not a huge indicator of when i'll deliver, it is important to keep an eye on. Every time I've had invasive exams during my pregnancy i just keep telling myself it's for my daughter's well being. I have a great care provider team - usually i rotate between two or three docs at the health center, all of whom are careful and yeah, it sucks, but I've developed a rapport with them and will sweat (literally) through internals. So I don't necessarily think I need to stop them per se..

But this nurse was new to me. I've never seen her before. And I think it was how she was just so forceful and rough that frightened me and put me on edge. I'm seeing a new doctor tomorrow - one i haven't seen before AND MALE. And from all accounts, he's absolutely wonderful.

it's not so much the exams themselves anymore but that this one experience has made me really wary of seeing a stranger now. I'll explain to him that i'm skittish but i'll still be a mess.
  • I'm telling you, I'm great at peeing in cups, until they make me wipe first with those stupid things for the clean catch. Then for some reason it's like my pee goes in every direction at once. I've peed on my hand at every.single.appointment so far. It's gross, and annoying, and embarrassing. I'm ready to be done with that for sure!

I know we don't. We live in a one-bedroom (those lovely new york pricing) so baby doesn't have a room... More like a space lol we cleared out our dining room area. But other than the crib set and the little knick knacks I put on the hutch I didn't touch the walls. It'll just be taken out of our security deposit. No point. Lol

You are not alone. We lucked out that our apartment is kind of warm beige color and not stark white.
  • The trick to cup peeing is to start peeing first. Once you have a steady stream, just pop the bottle under it. It takes a few tries to get it right but once you do, it's a lot easier than trying to catch it when it first comes out.

I have had a zillion UTIs since 2010 so I've become a champion at cup peeing.

We are renting a town home and our LO has a very decorated nursery. I think it really depends on your landlord. We rent from an agency and they are so lovely! The nursery was a horrid blue when we moved in and my in laws painted it white for us. Nurseries are more for the mothers anyways, it's not like baby will remember or care lol.
  • It kind of annoys me when the same person asks me everyday how baby is.. Yes, I'm due Friday and she could come any day, but you don't have to ask me every time we talk how baby is. I'm still pregnant so let's move on
