Re: Nub theory

  • Uh oh... You have your flame suit on? ;) Lol I know absolutely nothing about nub theory so I can't make a prediction. Looks like a pickle.

  • I'm so bad at reading ultrasounds. What week is this? If you have an edit app and can point to the nub, I'll take a guess!!!!

At my 12 week ultrasound my husband saw the umbilical cord and got excited (and I believed him). The US tech corrected him and said it was a leg haha. So that tells you how awful I am at reading them, but guessing is fun :)
  • It's a baby, congrats!

Seriously though, nub is debatably reputable in the hands of an experienced ultrasound tech who manages to get the perfect angle and perform the required measurements. I don't even know if what you've got there is a leg or a nub, let alone where to begin with the rest of it. If the tech wouldn't wager a guess, its not distinct enough to go in either direction at this point.
  • That's not a nub, it's a leg
  • Have the same question! My sister in law(nurse) says she thinks boy due to "bubbles" under the right leg??

Bubbles have nothing to do with sex. Until 14 or so weeks, the genitals are virtually identical. Some reports show that careful measurement of the angle of the genitals tubercle in relation to the spine can accurately predict sex. This requires a picture at just the right angle that showcases the nub and spine in the same plane so the angle between the two can be measured.
  • I find the nub theory quite interesting because it does seem to actually have some merit to it (unlike "omg I have two zits I must be having a girl"), but this is too fuzzy to make out. I've also read that the nub theory only works if the ultrasound photo is of a fetus between 12-14 weeks.

This is such a cool ultrasound!! All the 3D ones I've seen are brown and blobby and funky looking. I don't really see a nub in this one either, I see what looks like the umbilical cord going between the legs I think. But this one is so cool!!!! Definitely a keeper for the baby book :)
  • You guys are rude I hope you teach your child what you're mom obviously didn't teach you, if you don't have anything nice to say then keep to yourselves.
  • This is her husband replying btw.

    I don't belieeeeeeve you!
  • @ksensat016 Really? None of us are ultrasound techs. If they couldn't tell you, we certainly can't. I know we come across as really knowledgable, but reading DNA from the world's grainiest ultrasound is not possible. Wait for the anatomy scan, pay for an earlier ultrasound or get the blood test. Those are the only ways to know.

    Why does that matter?

  • i don't think anyone was trying to be rude. Ultrasounds at this stage are basically like a toddler drawing, ask ur family, wait for the anatomy scan, get the panorama, all better options then asking internet strangers to interpret a toddler drawing

And one more thing, this is a COMMUNITY. The point is NOT to keep to ourselves. And "your wife" has barely ever posted anything. That's not being part of a community.
  • This thread gave me major deja vu.

Lol. Yeah, I'm also someone who is very hesitant to to rude, harsh, or dismissive to someone else. I mean, I'll do it if necessary, but I'd rather be kind.

As far as your misuse of "you're," I'll never understand why some people are so bothered by other people's grammar mistakes. Frankly, as a teacher, I see them day in and day out. I guess maybe I'm desensitized? No one is perfect, so pointing out the mistakes of another adult who is not causing harm, and is not asking you to pass judgment, is a poor choice in my book.

In real life, among neighbors, friends, coworkers, fellow church members, acquaintances, and even strangers, I do not find myself being treated how some people respond to others on here. I'm not sure why there is such a discrepancy between my real life, and online (here) experiences.

If you (speaking to anyone,) think that you are better than someone else because you are smarter or have more common sense, rethink your position. No one deserves to be talked down to; we are all people.

I work with typically developing children, as well as special needs. And I teach my kids to be equally kind to all. Being born with greater intellectual potential, does not give someone else the right to treat someone else who is not as smart, or who does not have as much common sense or life experience, as though they are less. Please treat others as though they are equal, not less than you.

I guess being a teacher, has also taught me, "there's is no such thing as a dumb question." I would hope that ladies either answer a question with respect, or chose to ignore it.

@JuneBaby2016 Choosing to ignore things you don't want to read works both ways. You could just as easily ignore the "rude" comments. As for this thread, this is pretty tame.

As you probably noticed, I feel the need to stick up for others. I remember being this way as young as preschool. It's who I am. I don't get personally ruffled by rude things said to me. (If you look at old posts, you'll notice I'm good at ignoring rude things said to me.) But when said to others, I just can't see something "wrong" happening and ignore it.
  • I fell asleep on the couch way too early last night, so I missed everything. The only thing I'll add is this: Having your husband jump in to defend you on a public forum is absolutely ridiculous. Whether it was truly your husband or not, I have no idea.

If I were to get butthurt over some comments left to me on a public internet forum (which I wouldn't) and go complain to hubs about it (which I also wouldn't), he would laugh and tell me "it's just the internet".

Love this! My hubs would say "Well I guess you don't need to be on the site if it hurts you that bad".
