How are you announcing?

Re: How are you announcing?

  • We just told closest friends and family mostly via text or over the phone. Extended family on our Christmas card list are each getting a card with a photo of DH and I holding a tiny present with a tag that says "Open July 2016".

  • When I announced with my loss, I bought a "made in New Orleans" onesie and gave it to my parents at Christmas with the disclaimer that their "real gift" was on back order and wouldn't arrive until August. It went over pretty well but I can't imagine doing that again.

I'm planning to tell them when I go home for Christmas this year but not in the same way... Haven't decided how yet. At least this time I will have one u/s under my belt and I'll be closer to 12 weeks than 8.

As for a social media announcement, I've debated using legos somehow (my husband loves legos), or the player 2 thing, or maybe putting a big brother shirt on our youngest furbaby (although he might kill me in the process). We'll see...

@sboston06 Adorable!!! My husband and I are travel gurus too. We wanted to find a way to incorporate that too. LOVE the middle seat line!
  • I'm announcing to my family by giving my nephew a "Best Cousin" shirt for his birthday.  Not sure how we'll announce to DH's family yet.  Think we'll do the emojis when we announce to our friends though!

  • We took our picture today, we hung a extra stocking, twirled ourselves in Christmas lights then on the picture we wrote "next year.. We will have one more stocking to fill". I'm getting them printed as we speak and when we are with a lot of our family on chrsitmas day we will give everyone a picture around the dinner table, then after our family knows we are going to text the picture to our close friends and family who are out of towners. Then once everyone important knows I'll post on social media!
  • Bought a little outfit that says #2016. We are going to take a picture with it and post it New Years Day!
  • We bought an outfit to give our parents on Christmas and then we will post this picture of our dogs on facebook. We will be exactly 10wks that day.
  • We are just going to let each person figure it out on their own. Let them all question if I am pregnant or just getting fat. I live 35 mins from my family, yet we only see them like once every other month. Yeah, I am a little bitter. It can be their punishment for not being involved in their grandsons life. He only sees them when its convenient for them. Long story, but to shorten it... there is no excuse, they live close by!!
  • My parents already know because there was a little drama surrounding this pregnancy so I just literally was sitting on my mom's living room floor playing with her and my son and came out with, so I'm pregnant, lol. She told my dad and I texted a picture of my son and I holding my 2nd ultrasound in front of my belly to my husband's cousin that I'm very close with. In-laws and siblings don't know yet. My husband will probably just call his parents to tell them and for a more fun announcement I was thinking of doing the same thing as @bunkie999 and printing out a couple pictures to hand out at Christmas and then posting it, but I'm thinking of getting/making a maternity tshirt to wear to Xmas and just letting everyone notice and then posting a pic. I want to take a picture of my stomach with holiday ribbon wrapped around it with a tag that says open July 2016 and maybe my son kissing my belly or just in the picture. We'll see what I end up doing lol

  • I am doing an ornament for my parents that has little baby booties in it and says, "Grandma and Grandpa, Est. July 2016" inside. For my sister I found a frame that says, "I'm the crazy aunt they warned you about." Not sure what to do for the general public yet. We have three fur babies so I saw something on Etsy that was a picture of the pooches with signs that say "Official Toddler Toy Tester July 2016" which is cute!
  • I'm going to Photoshop Santa hats on the babies ultrasound picture. Just post that and nothing else except a July 2016 on the bottom.
  • I think my boyfriend and I are going to make a Christmas card and we will be holding the first sonogram. We're going to put a mini Santa hat on the corner and write something like: "Merry Christmas from our family to yours"
  • We bought an outfit to give our parents on Christmas and then we will post this picture of our dogs on facebook. We will be exactly 10wks that day.
Huskies!!! My favorite kind of dog! And great annoucement!

  • I am announcing three different ways. First is to SOs parents on their anniversary coming up this weekend. To my family at our Christmas party the 19th. Then on Facebook with our son holding a sign after Christmas day!
  • For our daughter I made concert tickets that announced the baby ... Can't remember the website but they were super cute. Then we just have them to our family and said here are some tickets hope you will be there. With our 2nd that we lost I made a shirt for DD that said this little elf has a secret ... I'm gonna be a big sister. This year we announced to family at thanksgiving by giving them a bottle of wine ... The label said "Drink this for me I'll join you soon baby #2 coming July 2016"

  • I'm going to take a picture of my kids holding signs going from oldest to youngest stating. Been there, done that, now it's my turn big sister status arriving July 2016.
  • With my DD I put a Big sister t-shirt on her and waited for people to notice.
This time we've already told close friends and family because anyone who spends time around me would notice my symptoms. So we took pictures of DD holding a sign saying oldest and DS holding a sign saying youngest, crossed out and middle added to the bottom.
  • I've been dying to share this somewhere! Don't tell anyone ;) We're sending out this pic in our Christmas cards as soon as we hear the heart beat Wednesday the 9th (it'll be 11 weeks so cards should arrive right when we are 12 weeks).

Hey girl. Just warning you that you can see your name on this and the Internet is a scary place. You may want to edit it.
  • A fried of mine posted a pic on Facebook, her daughter was holding a sign that said "girls: 1" and her son held "boys: 1" and then in the middle there was a sign that said "tie breaker coming" with her DD. I thought it was cute.
  • My Husbands family has a Huge Christmas Eve Party where we always do a small random gift exchange. Everyone throws a $30 gift in the pile and you pick a number out of a hat for your order. When mine or my husbands number is up, we will pick our wrapped gift, which will be a poster board announcing the surprise! Even if someone else picks it, it will be cute as we are all family. I had a MC at 8.5 weeks in May, so hoping we get to make such a special announcement!
  • We told our family on Thanksgiving. My daughter actually announced it by telling our families that she was thankful that she was going to be a big sister.
  • My family is visiting for Christmas and my mom wanted to get family photos done since there are 2 new babies since our last photo. I've talked to the photographer and instead of saying "cheese" - or whatever she says - she's going to say "Jen's pregnant!" And click away with the camera :)

For DH's fam I'm just going to wear a "Mama Bear" shirt to brunch and see how long it takes for them to pick up on it
  • Took this beauty yesterday!! Going to post it on FB around Christmas. I'm so excited about it!
  • These are some cute ideas! We're just going to have a couple's photo shoot to show off the bump. I'll be 12 weeks on Christmas so we won't post the pics until then. I'm still not showing so I hope a lot of food will help :)
  • I will be 13 weeks on Christmas and we plan on telling our parents and my sister then. This our our first but we really want to wait until a) we've had an ultrasound, b) reach the "magic" week 12, and c) we can see them in person!!

I am thinking we will do something along the lines of what howie002 suggested; I found a card on Etsy that reads, "What do you get for the parents who have everything?" and on the inside it says, "A promotion! Merry Christmas, Grandma and Grandpa!" For my sister I think we'll do a bottle of wine with a wine label that says, "Only the best sisters get promoted to Aunt," or something cheesy like that.

I love seeing other people's Facebook announcements and ideas online but I'm not sure we'll go that route. I would prefer to just tell the people we choose and then let word get out naturally. The FB announcement thing just seems kind of "trendy"; though it's VERY cute, I just don't think it's for us.
  • We told our parents and siblings when we found out. DS was holding a balloon that said, "welcome baby!" It took them a while to catch on but it was priceless when they did!

For the general public we are going to take a picture of DS in front of the Christmas tree holding a sign that says, "All I wanted for Xmas was a sibling... Santa delivered! Our gift is arriving July 2016," with the little ultrasound photo propped up in an opened gift box.
  • My boys took a picture with this sign last night with Santa! I plan to post it Christmas Eve when I'm almost 12 weeks!

  • For my first pregnancy, we didn't tell anyone. Like, seriously. No one. We called them all from the hospital after he was born and told them. They were surprised, needless to say. (I'm long waisted and heavier, so I didn't look THAT pregnant. My Dr took like 100 ultrasounds because my belly was just not popping out)

This time around, it's my turn to pick. What I think I want to do is tell me co-workers by sending out a sonogram with a wizard hat added to it -- We are the wizards at my school -- with a message like, "It'll be a magical summer with a new wizard joining our team, July 2015."

For family, we just moved and have been furiously renovating. I want to have a housewarming party in January or February and announce there -- probably pulling my DS into it.

We are waiting to tell him, too, as we had to seek fertility help to get pregnant this go around and we really don't want to get his hopes all up in case something goes wrong. Plus, if we told him he would DEFINITELY tell everyone -- he's six and doesn't understand secrets too well. :)
  • To close family we put a onesie in a gift bag and gave it to them. For Facebook we are doing this... :)

  • Assuming everything continues to go well, all my friends/family are nerds so I am going with this and a picture stating the obvious for the less nerdy. :) I am waiting a while though yet.
