Braylynn is not at all my style and sounds half made up. I also thought Gadreel was made up or misspelled at first, but now that I google I see that it refers to a fallen angel. That's not at all the connotation I would want for my child.

    The middle names are fine.

This. They sound made up but whatever floats your boat.

  • Braylynn is NMS.  I think it started as a made up name from Braden; isn't it most commonly spelled Braelyn?

Also, ditto @AEG84 with the reference to the biblical Gadreel.

  • I'd like the name if it was spelled Braelyn, Braelynn, Braylen or any other variation than what was originally posted. I don't like the name Gadreel at all.

The Bump also has a baby names board a lot of people go to in case you're interested.

  • I agree think about how these will be for your child actually growing up with them. How would you or your so have felt if these were your names. Especially the boy name, that could be rough on a little one and through the teenage years.

  • i really don't like either of those names... Maybe go back to the drawing board. If u post this in the baby name board they might be able to help you come up with some similar variations on the names. Just know that wherever you post, you aren't going to get many positive responses with these names

I see what you did there. hahaha

To the OP, the names are NMS, but good for you for choosing names. I know it's not an easy process.
  • And here I was thinking 'Gadreel' was just an awful speshul misspelling of Gabriel. Thanks for the history lesson, friends.

This is one of those rare circumstances where I agree with the notion of keeping your names a secret until delivery.. because, no.
  • How do you even pronounce that? GAD (rhymes with bad)-REEL or Guh-dreel or some other way?
  • Wasn't Gadreel the the villain's cat in The Smurfs? Am I showing my age? I remember he had this annoying scratchy cat laugh.
  • I'm sorry (not sorry) but naming a kid Gadreel is just mean...oh was that rude? :grimace:

  • You might as well name your kid Satan. Satan is at least easier to spell and pronounce.

Me too! Highly amusing! Perhaps this was posted for entertainment value. If so, well done, OP.
  • I think the middle names are fine. The girl's first name = meh. The boy's first name reminded me of LOTR. I'm not sure how you chose it, especially after someone else pointed out where it comes from.

Choosing names is hard. When I think of a name I first think of potential nick names. Then I do the resume and introduction tests. For instance, I have to introduce myself to multiple people every day at work, I'm glad I have a fairly common, well-know name; however, mine isn't spelled the typical way so even people I've known for years still often spell it wrong.

Honestly when it comes to working in the real world, there is so much job competition that some people could get eliminated from the running simply based off of their name. If I was an employer hiring I would probably side-eye a resume for a Gadreel. (Or such things as Katniss, or Loki, etc. and I know of people who have chosen those names for their kiddos).

If you are really set on those names, then it's better not to post a thread here asking for opinions. If you aren't going to change your mind then our opinions dont matter to you.
