Let's Talk Boobs

I know we usually talk about our bumps, our aches and pains, and even sometimes our bathroom buisness but I thought we could take a minute to talk boobs.
I was a small B and I'm fairly certain I moved to a C (I only wear tank top and crop top style bras so they come in small, medium, and large. I went from a medium to a large). Now they're hardish and to me look fake- they have that overfull seperate mountains look to them.
How have your boobs changed?

  • I used to be a C back in the day. After having kids I'm a D. But now... DD. My cups runneth over.

  • Mine have grown but I don't know what they're supposed to look like anyways. I got a lift and reduction a month before I got pg so I'm still healing and adjusting to that. They've definitely gotten bigger since the surgery though. My scar lines are much higher.

  • I was a small D before and now I'm a DD. Sigh.
  • Up a cup size and I think my band size has already grew. I keep buying new bras that are ok for a day or two then super uncomfortable a week later (although the in all fairness I hate bras and always find them uncomfortable). Hubby says my boobs look huge.

  • Before DS I was a D....while EBF I was a G...when we partially weened I went down to an E...and this week I'm definitely feeling bigger. And itchy. Boobs are weird.

  • Before DS I was a 34B. My boobs grew to a 34DDD while I was pregnant with him. Before getting pregnant I was a 34DD in the boob that had completely weaned and still a DDD in the one he had been feeding from 1-2 times per day. I had to stuff one side of my bra to even things out. (I definitely won't give in if this LO tries to favor one side over the other.) Everything is back up to a 34DDD now and I'm evened out again. I'm concerned that when I'm in the newborn BF phase nothing is going to fit. It seems that this super-growth is typical in my family. Both my grandmother and mother were petite and small-chested before kids, and petite and large-chested after. I have a bag of clothes and bathing suits in the attic that I'm pretty sure will never fit right again.
  • I moved from a c to a d a few weeks ago. I think I'm about to need to bump up again.
  • Prepreg, I'm a c cup. During preg, I'm a d. When my milk comes in, I have no idea what size I am because I shun bras when I'm engorged! I lived in tank tops after having my daughter. I've noticed my nipples are already getting darker, I don't remember that happening this soon last pregnancy. I'm sure my linea nigra is next up, ugh.
  • i was a 30D before i got pregnant (i'm 18 weeks now).  my sports bras and regular bras were so uncomfortable back in mid-October that i had to go get new, so the woman at nordstrom's measured me and i was a 30DDD.  so i bought a new bra and some sports bras since i live in them every day and work out a lot.  now i've outgrown those.  are you supposed to just live in stretchy, ill-fitting bras throughout pregnancy?  i can't keep buying new. it's a little frustrating.

i'm a little nervous - my mom and my grandma both were fairly small before they had babies and both of their bra sizes grew exponentially and they both stayed big for the rest of their lives.  i hope to god mine deflate someday down the road.

  • Don't judge me...when I was a senior in college 10 years ago, I lost a ton of weight. Dealing with insecurities, I decided to get fakes. This was back when silicone was still illegal/off market. At the time I thought I'd have kids in my 20s, get them redone, no big deal. Someone should have told the 21 year old me life doesn't go as planned. I'm looking forward to having kids and then getting them out completely. The older I get and more confident I get with age, the more I think they just aren't nessisary. Anyway, they've already changed after 10 years just thanks to normal weight gain with age, but pregnancy is not only making them grow even more but I can feel the implants are shifting around. They don't look weird at the moment, but it'll be interesting considering they only have a 10-12 year life span anyway. I had to bump up to a DD in October. I was sad about it because bras tend to get uglier the bigger you get, but I found this nursing bra that's comfortable and sexy. https://www.apeainthepod.com/Product.asp?product_Id=194080664&MasterCategory_Id=MC28

Can you please just write me a breastfeeding bible??  Because I learn something every time you post about it.  This is a thing??  I mean, it makes sense I guess, but....gahhh.

Lol. Yep, you can feed one-sided and also sometimes babies favor one side. DS liked the right better because my let-down was faster on that side so he didn't have to work quite as hard for the milk. The one-sided thing just sort of happened when we were down to less frequent feedings because he'd take more from that side and less from the other. So my supply shifted (each breast has an independent milk supply). Boobs are crazy. I've known some women to feed one sided for a while because a plugged duct had knocked out their supply.
  • I was a a 36 C before and I think I've moved up to a 38C. I have bras in both sizes and I'm wearing the 38C ones alright. Still, in pictures I've noticed they look big and MH also told me they looked bigger.
    Me: 38; DH: 41
    DS: Born 5-17-16

  • I'm a 32D and I do notice the band is fitting a bit tight but I'm not close to being in the market for a new bra yet.

One weird thing: my left areola was always slightly bigger than the right one but not really obvious unless you knew to look for it. It's now growing at a more rapid rate than the right one. Someone told me that means my left boob will 'be the primary milk producer'. No idea if that's true but the female body is soooooo strange.
  • I was a C before DD. During pregnancy I went up to a D and when my milk came in I was a full DD. They went back down to a D afterwards and now none of my bras fit. I've been living in sports bras most days to keep these bad boys contained and I'm trying to hold off buying new bras until I know if they're going to grow more or not.

Also why do my nipples hurt SO BAD all of a sudden? The past couple weeks have been torture. I don't remember this happening last time.
  • I was a 34D before I got pregnant and they have definitely grown since then. I bought a large maternity bra from Target that has some padding but no underwire and it's pretty comfortable. I know that in a month or two I'll have to buy another one. Mine also hurt, primarily at night, when I roll from one side to the other.
  • I lost a little weight this last year, which meant my usual 36 DD was too big for me. Then I got PG and it is now perfect again. I fear them getting any larger, and since this is the first one, I have no idea what to expect from my body ... they seemed to have stopped growing now (2nd tri) which is nice since they no longer hurt as much as they did in the beginning, but I know this is the calm before the milk-producing storm ...

I know! It's kind of ridiculous. It's even worse for those of us that can't afford to spend more than $20-30 on a bra. Those ones tend to only come in white, black, and nude and often are very simple.

This. Seriously. I don't remember this either. DD accidentally bumped into my boob while at Thanksgiving. I started crying because it hurt my nipple so much.

Yep, the sensitivity is crazy. I've gotten used to it again by this point, but a few weeks ago, I wasn't wearing a bra (big mistake) and DS climbed up into my lap from the floor quickly and grabbed my nipples like handles. Ouch!
  • I was a 34DD prepregnancy. Now they're just larger and I'm spilling out of my bras. Time to buy new ones. I bought new sports bras b/c they're more comfortable. With my pregnancy my belly never got passed my boobs.
  • I've gone up 2 cup sizes w/ pregnancy, my 1st Tri they were very uncomfortable-itchy and painful! I couldn't lay on them bump them or put any pressure on them!! I started with a larger size sports bra but very quickly moved into maternity/nursing bras they're so much more comfortable for me!!

I was warned by the women who help size me for the maternity bras that my breast size might increase again when my milk comes in… yikes!!! Lol

This is my first pregnancy, so I was really surprised that the thing that changed first about my body was my breasts! All this time I've been waiting for my belly to show and all I have at 15 weeks is something that resembles a beer gut!!! Ha! I'm so proud of it though
  • @cortney626 someone said to me that week that she wondered if my belly would grow past my boobs!!  I told her at this point I was pretty sure I would be able to feed my own child as well as a couple of Syrian refugees...they're huge.

Wild right?! In many countries around the world women only nurse on one side and one boob can handle it! We just like things balanced here in the US ;)

  • Ugh...I started at a full D, and the last cup size bra I had on three weeks ago was a DD. I'm now solely in maternity bras that are sized S, M, L...I'm in a double XL...thanks boobies. They HURT. My dog is only allowed "up" to give DH and I our daily hug and he jumped up and hugged me this morning when I didn't have my bra on and they were throbbing for hours. :/

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------
My boobs have been so sensitive to the touch recently too! & (although he's not doing it on purpose) my son has been gnawing while breastfeeding. Idk what happened to his latch, but it now involves teeth into my nipple. It's horrible. We are trying to fix it but it's not seeming to work.
  • I was a 34b, I'm now a 36D and I have SO many blue veins covering my boobs!!! Also the growth doesn't make them those beautiful, wonderful, perky D cups that you see on Victoria's Secret models... They are more like floppy, droopy, sad D cups lol
  • 2 months in I went Bra shopping and was shocked to find out I went from a D to an E so fast. I thought I would be a DD. Now at 4 months those E size cups are too snug and I need to upsize again . . . What comes next?! EE or straight to F? Going out this weekend to find a couple of new ones. I hope they don't keep getting bigger.

The sensitivity is less of an issue than it was before. Well, my boobs were all over sensitive and now its just my nipples. My soft terry cloth towel feels like its covered in razors when I dry off after a shower. I hope that stops before BFing.
  • I've gone from a small A to a full B. My husband is excited but I'm not into it - a lifetime of having essentially no boobs, and I cannot get used to this situation! I've always worn padded bras just so I fill out clothes normally, so when I'm fully dressed it doesn't look any different, but definitely feels weird!

Also I have tiny clogged pores cropping up all over them and am totally grossed out, so that's not helping.
  • @kami09 That does hurt! I'm sure it's even worse with pregnancy boobs. I know you mentioned working on it, but I'll leave a few suggestions of things that worked for me in case they help. You may have already tried them though.

Have you tried gently/briefly pressing his face into the boob so he releases? He'll have to let go to breathe through his mouth. That, along with a clear, calm, "Ouch. No biting, it hurts me," usually got DS to stop biting out of boredom or curiosity for a while. If he may be teething again, have him chew on something like a clean, cool washcloth before he nurses.
  • @kbrands7 he is teething- like 6 simultaneously. So that's a great idea! As for the telling him "no biting, that hurts"...that's another beast. When he was really little I would say "oh no no no" in a funny voice...and now when I tell him no or scold him, he laughs.
  • I'm laughing at all the boob growth! Lol

    I went from a 30/ 32 B to my current 34 D! I'm pretty sure my boobs aren't done growing either! Eek!
  • I feel like a circus freak show at the moment. I'm usually a 32E-F depending on the make (tiny back, massive boobs, thankfully tall and it balances out)....within weeks of getting pregnant I was up to a full F. I've just bought new bras...some are 34G and one a 34H.

Here's the fun part...no one makes nursing bras in my size because for some reason only larger women are allowed to have boobs this size, not regular sized. So good luck to me. I'm also only 18 weeks and can't find many bras that go up much past an H with such a small back. Once they get bigger i don't know what I'm going to do!!!

Oh and every time I have to get a new bra I have to buy online and it usually costs $80!
  • @ayeshaohara I have am petite but with broad shoulders and was a 32E pre pregnancy. I also have always had to invest in some pretty expensive bras in order to keep everything looking good and not matronly. My boobs are now gargantuan and I also feel like freak show. If I wear a flowy top to work people can't see my bump at all.

I finally decided to give in and buy new bras this weekend. I am only 16 weeks but I feel like they actually can't get bigger than this and I hope I am right.
  • I grew two band sizes, not so much on the cup size though :-(
The two band size expansion might be the cause for my excruciating back pain. (Going strong since week 7) Yippieh...
Not quite what I hoped for :-)

  • My boobs are bigger for sure but haven't had to buy new yet since I'm in a bikini 90% of the time and trying not to wear a bra the other 10%.

TMI alert- just wondering if anyone else has experienced this because it is super weird to me- when I take my bikini off at the end of the day my nips sort of stick to the inside and with my darker bikinis I am left with a very clear white "reflection" of my nipples on the fabric. My doc waved it off as a just another weird pregnancy thing but seems so strange that I lose a layer of nip everytime I wear a bikini.

I'm almost looking forward to finishing my water work in 2.5 weeks so I don't have my bikini tops looking back at me at the end of the day!

Possibly TMI here too...Is it definitely skin, or could it be that you're leaking a bit of colostrum? If it's sort of clearish/flaky, sometimes a bit sticky if fresh, it may be that you're leaking a little which is perfectly normal at this stage. If it's actually skin, maybe try to wear some sort of breast pad (they make waterproof ones) to give your nips a little extra protection. I suppose though that if your doctor understands the issue and isn't concerned, there's probably no reason to be concerned unless it's causing discomfort.
  • Forgive me for this cause I'm still new, has anyone else had this happen... This is my 3rd but my first 2 are both girls and didn't have much change in boobs till about two weeks before they were born. This time my boobs have already grown 2 cup sizes and 4inches in band size and I'm only 3 months pregnant. Is this normal?

I went up two cup sizes by 2 months and at 4 months I need to go up a size yet again. Sounds normal to me. some ladies don't seem to change much at all while others go into Porno boob mode. everyone is different. :)

I've been a solid B since puberty and have been so happy with my nice new C cups! Seriously why couldn't I have had these before pregnancy! If it wasn't for the bloat at the same time I would be hot AF! Also having chest acne which has never happened to me ever before is ruining the only sexy perk so far.
