Twins? Singleton with shadow?

My doctor is unsure if there's a second baby inside! This is what the scan looked like and I'm measuring bigger than I should. What do you think?

I'd say it looks like one, but if your doctor doesn't know then why would we? A friend had something similar happen and it eventually it was confirmed as one. You'll just have to wait for another scan.

Side funny: sometimes I reverse image search to see if people stole pictures to catfish with. Apparently google thinks that this is a picture of the moon.

I didn't think anyone would know.. Just thought it would be fun to get others opinions. My next scan is in a week.

Haha! Definitely not the moon. I usually cut out the info at the top just because I don't think people need my name or location.

I see four babies but then again I didn't go to med school or study how to read these things.

If you doctor wasn't sure, no one here is going to be able to tell. You will have to wait for your next scan.

My doctor could see there were two since I was around 6 weeks. It worries me yours can't tell at this stage, but you'll have to wait it out, patiently.

Yes, I am waiting patiently lol. Just thought it would be interesting to get other opinions. My friend had a hidden twin and they didn't find it until 18 weeks. I'm happy with one baby or four babies. Thanks for the input. Scan in a week

Hidden twins are really rare though. Docs can not only looks for twins by looking for two fetuses but they can also look for 2 gestational sacs, 2 heartbeats, AND look for 2 yolk sacs. If you only saw one gestational sac, one yolk sac, one heartbeat, and one fetus then it is most likely you are having a singleton.

And my honest opinion is that I am not qualified to read an ultrasound and therefore you need to wait for another scan. Usually twins are very obvious.

Other sites may have more of that mentality, but TB members mostly focus on science.

You can't just arrive here and expect people to change the well established tone of this community just for you. You sure are free to post whatever you want but when you do that you have to accept not everyone is going to reply in a way that you like. As mentioned above, there are other sites where these sort of questions are encouraged and you might have better luck there.

Otherwise, if you're going to stick around, I suggest you lurk more to get a feel for the board.

As mentioned above, there are other sites where these sort of questions are encouraged and you might have better luck there.

It is if you yourself said that you "didn't really think anyone would know" and "just wanted opinions". You got opinions.

Each time you post? This is the only thread you have posted on.
If you every lurked here, even for a day (not the 3 day waiting period. Which is what it is for... lurking)., you will see that looking at U/Ss is not looked on with glee and joy here. That has been TB for the 8 years that I have been here.
The Bump is known for scientific and factual information. Since we are not trained to read U/S, we can not give medical or factual advice.

you cant just show up & tell people how the show should be ran. as previously stated, you can definitely post what you want, but don't complain if/when people don't react the way you want them to. everyone here has recieved responses I'm sure they didn't want or expect. shrug it off & move on.

if your doctor has no idea if there's twins or a shadow, not a single person on here will be able to tell you. looking at sonograms & taking a wild guess at what I'm looking at isnt fun to me, or a lot of other ladies here.

The person with 10+ years of post high school training has said they can't tell. What on earth makes you think any of us here, with no such training, would be able to tell in such a situation? No one here is trying to be mean, but no one wants to offer medical advice when they are not properly trained to do so and they are happy to tell you that. Speculating about other people's ultrasounds is not fun for most people on this site.

Thank you! I hate that hormones are so easily blamed by some people on this site. Yes, pregnancy effects hormones-- but do I allow it to make me indiscriminately act rude or bitchy? NOPE. No one here was acting hormonal (whatever that even means), they were just stating their opinions. AND as pp stated, not everyone that posts on the tri boards is pregnant so that puts a nice gaping hole in your hormone theory.....
