Is this real life? This just came up on my FB feed

I have had 2 vaginal births but would never say someone hasn't "given birth" having had a c-section. "Birth" to me is "coming into the world from the womb"... It doesn't matter which hole does it? (Edit: that was hopefully an obvious rhetorical question. NO! It doesn't matter which hole! Gosh! Either way you grew a gosh darn PERSON with an identity inside of you and gave them LIFE! THAT Is "birth".!!!!

  • WHAT?! That is horrible! I don't know what I'm more offended by, the sentiment or the hideous font.

    That is garbage.

  • Loading the player...
  • OMG! I don't even have words.
  • That is insane! I couldn't imagine someone actually posting that!
  • What??? Please tell me this was a joke. Still an idiotic, unfunny joke that deserves an unfriend...
  • This is so offensive I can't even go there... is this for real?

What the actual fuck. No one would actually say that crap to anyone's face. I absolutely hate people who are holier than thou. Terrible, terrible, terrible.

  • Um, what?! Pretty sure if your baby goes from the inside to the outside then you've given birth, lol.
  • Looked up "Disciples of the New Dawn" (the logo in the corner of the image) and it looks like they're a desperately unfunny "satirical" facebook page. Lame internet trolls.

I read that too--- but then it also looks like they are a weird cult. I am a Christian and their values DEFINITELY don't reflect biblical truth or Christ... But maybe their cult-ish things are also satire? I normally LOVE satire... But this was just too far--- wayyyyy poor taste.

I like satire when it's funny and not just some idiot who thinks saying offensive things automatically makes them hilarious.

  • That is discusting, satire or not!
  • What the flip. Women and brave and tough no matter how they give birth- you're a mother either way. This is horrible. That person would have been unfriended that very minute.

  • Wow. Just wow. I'm a FTM but my mom had a csection. She has a condition that required surgery that thinned part of the uterine wall. The doctors wouldn't risk trying to turn my brother who was breech because it was likely to rupture her uterus, but yeah. She's the one who should be showing respect for those who had a "real" birth. Wtf, satire or not.
  • What a load of crap.  My mom and my mother's mom had to have C-Sections with all their babies (2 for my mom and 9 for my mom's mom....yes 9).  The babies just wouldn't drop...I think going through well over 30 hours of labor and then hearing, "nope, ain't gonna happen, you and your baby can either die in labor or you have a c-section" makes them all the more stronger.
  • I saw this floating around on Facebook a while back, shared by a old friend who agreed with it. Absolutely disgusting. She also posts pictures of her kids in piles of crushed beer cans in their backyard, so I like to think she has more than a few screws loose.
  • WTAF. Whether it's meant as satire or not, that's utterly offensive, disgusting, despicable, and just plain stupid. The idiot that shared that on your wall deserves an earful and an unfriending, OP.
  • I. can't. even.

    #csectionandproud
  • Oh-ho-ho-no they didn't!? That's the most rediculous thing... They think they can just... It was probably written by a man.

Omg, so the 9 months before baby's b-day count for nothing!?
  • That is disgusting and stupid.

Satire or not it is offensive. It really bothers me that people share images like this whether they agree or not. Even if they don't agree with it, by sharing on their wall they are putting it out there and exposing it more. The only way to stop images like this is to ignore them.

I'm not saying you were wrong in Sharing it here @babyweber3 I'm specifically referring to people sharing on facebook.

ETA- I have had a c-section as well as a VBAC and the cesarean was by far the harder of the two. It is defintely not the easy way out.

  • I wish this came up on my news feed.... lol.

  • Wow, the thought of a c section scares me! Any woman who somehow can lay there and be strong enough knowing someone is cutting them open while awake is one hell of a woman to me!
  • I delivered vaginally and would do it ten times over before I'd want a c-section. That scares the shit out of me. I can't see it being easy
  • I saw this circulating only a few weeks after having my csection. It made me take my final slip into depression. I dealt with my c section horribly and will never forgrt seeing this for the first time.

I'm so sorry if my post triggered you. I hope it did the opposite seeing all the supportive women and their reactions to this crazy "meme". I hope you find peace with your birth and know that all of us stand behind you being a strong, capable woman and mother.
  • What is wrong with people??
  • @babyweber3 it didn't! I have came a long way since then. I totally and completely accept my section now and realize that without it I may not have my beautiful son :)

Oh, I shudder for the person who one day posts this on my feed and I see it. I'll have some gory details about a 30-hour labor, hour of unsuccessful pushing, etc. for #1, then carrying twins to almost 37 weeks. But I'm a weak c-section mama who caught two lucky breaks. Watch out.
