What was your first symptom or clue?

Re: What was your first symptom or clue?

  • My doctor was following my hcg levels down after my September miscarriage and I got down to 7 and was asked to come back in two weeks to see if I was officially below 5. And instead I was pregnant. Crazy suprise since my nurse told me it was impossible to get pregnant until my numbers hit at least 5. A happy shocker!

I'm so happy this was confirmed as a new pregnancy for you!!! When you posted about rising HCG levels on TTCAL I was crossing my fingers so hard for you!!!! Congratulations!

  • Mine was a lack of a period I truly didn't think I was pregnant after one negative test and was getting so mad that it wouldn't come ;) eventually I tested again and sure enough there was that faint little line I needed :)

  • At 11 DPO I had to pee four times more often than my norm. I thought it was a UTI, lol! Attempted to resolve with cranberries (which almost always works for me) . Didn't help, and I realized it didn't hurt at all, was just frequent. Still waited til 16 DPO to test, I was so sure it would take a few months for my cycle to regulate after 13 years of BCP.

  • Technically, my first symptom was my breasts being sensitive and sore but I didn't notice until I was 4 days late for my period. We were supposed to be on a TTC break but I've been stressed and wasn't being very mindful, haha. I was annoyed because I was late, checked my cycle, and then tested the following morning. Boom, BFP.

@AL_TwinCities Thank you!!! I remember you from the TTGP boards before my first pregnancy this summer when I was on the board a lot! SOO happy to see you here! There's lots of familiar people in here, I love it.
  • Sciatic nerve pain is what led me to take a pregnancy test. The only time I ever felt this pain before was with my first pregnancy during the 1st and 3rd trimester.
    image
  • Missed my period. But didn't have all the typical symptoms of my period before I missed it... normally I have pretty bad PMS and sweets cravings. But the PMS wasn't extreme. I still totally broke out in acne though. Waited 3 days then took a test came out positive seconds after the pee hit it. :)
  • Super sore nipples
  • I was dizzy and my boobs killed...more like shock waves going through them. This is completely different than my first pregnancy where I felt nothing until I was 6weeks.

  • I had early cramping which I thought was weird. My cycles are fairly consistent and when I had cramping 5 days earlier then expected, I did think that was strange. Although aside from that the first clue was the positive pregnancy test. I found out just shy of 4 weeks and had mild symptoms until 7 weeks, and then the nausea started, and that is anything but mild.
  • Last Thurs I passed up french fries for onion rings when I hate onion rings. Then got nauseas for like 1 min on Friday (I'm rarely nauseas) then Saturday I took a test, but felt stupid cause my period wasn't due for days - not til the 25th! I went to walk out of the bathroom dejected cause I felt stupid for wasting money. I went to throw it away without looking but glanced and saw the faint line. I scrambled to find the instructions to make sure I read it right. I did. Another faint positive Sunday and a good positive today :) telling my family tonight for thanksgiving!

Fatigue and falling asleep around 7:30 when I used to stay up til 11...and enlarged/sore boobs
  • Implantation bleeding (which I thought was my period) except for the fact it never fully came. Same exact way I found out with baby number 1
That and the fact that I went to the store before taking the test and bought Cookie Crisp and orange juice (things we never have in our house)
  • Two nights in a row I had crazy, vivid dreams- which I had all the time with my first pregnancy. The first day of my missed period I had boot camp class which I've attended 2x weekly for a few months. I could barely get through it- dying after a few minutes. I had no plans to take a test for at least a few more days but this got me wondering. Positive test later on that day :)
  • Whiskey tasted like garbage! Whiskey never tastes like garbage to me! I was worried that I was just becoming less cool, but 2 days later I found out that I'm pregnant and the little one was already protecting itself.
  • Sore boobs and nausea

  • Same as my first pregnancy - joint pain. My knees, ankles, wrists, elbows, and even my jaw ached. I think it's just because of the increase in hormones.

Turns out I grind/clench my teeth really badly in pregnancy, so although the other pain went away, my jaw is still pretty achy!
  • The first clue I questioned if I was pregnant was a vivid, very odd dream and they continued thru the week until I got a positive test over the weekend.
  • Late AF. Actually my boobs hurt less than they usually do before AF too.

  • I suddenly felt asleep in front of my work monitor.
  • Implantation bleeding (my husband actually saw a mess on the towel after shower or I would have misssed it) major pms symptoms but af never came, a week later I thought I had the flu, violently sick for about 5 hrs in the morning I felt better than I have in years. Started getting queasy about the same time the next day so I got a test and my suprise bfp.
  • My first clue that I was pregnant was that I was late. My cycles are usually like clockwork, always happening in the first few days of the month, on or off birth control. So when I was late by a few days after not being on birth control and having unprotected relations with my husband, I started to suspect. The funny thing is that I took two tests prior to my missed period that said I was negative - my last period started October 8th (a little later than usual) and I took a negative test on the 24th of October and the 2nd of November. I was sure that second one would be accurate enough, so I just assumed "not preggo" until the days wore on and I still hadn't had my period!! I took a test on the 7th of November and it was positive! I took it again on the 11th, even MORE positive (two dark, prominent pink lines instead of one being light).

So after two positives, I'm certain I'm preggo because more symptoms have appeared. I'm sporadically hungry, my breasts have swelled and are sore, and I've had some cramping with no period since the 8th. Looks like I'm going to be a Mama! :)

  • TMI alert - I woke up the day before BFP with diarrhea which is not normal for me. I really never get diarrhea and thought I possibly could be pregnant. Then again, hindsight is 20/20 so it may have absolutely nothing to do with BFP; it could've been a coincidence.

  • Night sweats. I usually get them 4 days before my period and in Oct i got sweats right on cue but they didn't stop after that. I was 2 days late so I took a few tests and boom bfp!
  • Mine was a positive pregnancy test. I knew when I ovulated so I took the test as early as possible and was only like 3+5 when I got the BFP, so extremely unlikely to have any symptoms. After I knew I was pregnant, the first sign I had was my crazy pregnancy nose. I had it with DD too, I can smell the milk going sour the day before it goes, or moldy bread a couple days before the mold shows up.
  • I had light cramping and when no blood came I took a test. :)

  • Both pregnancies my first clue/symptom was exhaustion - don't get me wrong I love sleep normally - but I felt so run down and tired and if I laid on the couch I was out, it was a level of exhaustion I had never felt before...  So then I took a test and got my bfp :)  this time, it didn't take me a week to take a test, after a day or two of feeling like that I kind of figured it out and took a test asap

  • I starting crying because my fur baby has cataracts and had a hard time finding his food. I'm not a crier, and DH didn't know what to do with me. I was a day late and decided to take a test the next morning. 5 positives later and here I am! Looking back now, that week I was irritable and had sudden heartburn for no reason.
  • My first sign were my breasts really hurting but I thought it was because AF was coming. I track AF on this android app called "Clue." Once the day that AF was supposed to come nothing was down there. I did run to the bathroom a couple of times because I thought it was AF but it was only CM. Two days later went by still no AF so I decided to take a first response test & I got my BFP. I was in total shock because we just had a chemical pregnancy that turned into AF but didn't realize I would get pregnant so fast after having sex two days after AF had left. Now the shock has worn off & I am truly excited for our first appointment this upcoming Thursday.

  • I had a bunch of symptoms I kept chalking up to other things (fatigue...fibro, irritability....period, craving salad....I probably had been eating too many carbs, etc) but when my 3 yr old was climbing on me and crushed my boob, I noticed my nipples were super sore and I realized that something might be up.

  • I was in complete denial.  I attributed fatigue to the fact that I got very sick during ovulation, backaches were blamed on my love for gorgeous-but-not-sensible shoes, the strange appetite was blamed on a recovering immune system (I had been on ramen, gatorade, and cough syrup for 2 weeks prior).  I had actually used online cheap pregnancy tests that showed only negative, so when I walked into the grocery store to buy period survival supplies and was repulsed by the smell of donuts in the baked goods section, I picked up a store brand test expecting a BFN and a feeling of stupidity for having false hope.  I received 3 positive tests in less than 12 hours after that (seriously in denial) and was seen by my doctor to confirm the day after my first positive.
  • Night sweats & awful acne! After three consecutive nights waking up completely drenched in sweat, and my face breaking out, I knew something was up with my hormones. I ran to the store to grab a test and sure enough got a bfp!
  • I had the freezing thing too with my first pregnancy (not as bad with this one). My OB said it could be because blood gets diverted to the uterus and abdomen if it's not warm enough in the house or outside. My first sign was pimples...it's crazy
  • 4 days late, pimples, nausea
  • I was throwing up everyday or so and had constant nausea from two days post ovulation. I thought it was due to stress (my wedding was two weeks away). Neither stopped, they actuky kept getting worse. After a week of BFNs I got a BFP day of the wedding. Morning sickness has only gotten worse since then.
