I don't sleep anymore. Not sure if it's headaches, or what? I was wondering if I can drink sleepy time tea before bed. I'm 13 weeks pregnant. Please help with suggestions.
It's probably not a big deal but I have got some conflicting answers as to whether chamomile is safe and it's usually in sleepy time tea.
I would try a hot shower before bed (the feeling of your body cooling down afterwards helps you fall asleep), white noise, a very dark room, no screens or bright lights within an hour of bedtime, etc. All the stuff you'll be trying with your baby next year to get them to sleep too Download the Sound Sleeper app on your phone if you can; it has lots of nice white noise you can play to get yourself to sleep.
I believe that it is ok. The only questionable ingredient in it is chamomile which can cause contractions. However, I highly doubt there is enough chamomile in the blend to have any effect. Maybe just don't make it very strong. I've had it a few times this pregnancy and when I'm not pg I drink 2 cups a night when the weather gets cool.

Most commercial brands of herbal teas are thought to be safe for anyone to consume in reasonable amounts. Herbal tea companies, such as Celestial Seasonings, report that they do not use any herbs that are considered dangerous and choose to use herbs from guidelines that the FDA has published.
The herbal teas that are considered to be unsafe are those that are not made commercially, those made with excessive amounts of herbs (amounts larger than those found in common foods or drinks), and those made with herbs that are known to be toxic.
As with most things, it is always best to talk with your midwife or doctor about any herbal teas that you are interested in drinking.
