Bouncer to crib success!

My LO has been sleeping in a bouncer since he was about 2 weeks old (he'll be 12 weeks Thursday) He has reflux and the elevated head helped him sleep. However, lately he had been sliding down in the bouncer when he got fussy. About a week ago I put his bouncer into his crib so that the surroundings would be familiar. Last night I decided it was time to try his crib. I was terrified to more my baby into his crib. I was worried he wouldn't sleep at all but he actually did better! He still ate at 11(luckily my husband does that feed) and 330 but he didn't wake up at 2 (like he often does and I just give him his pacifier). I'll count that as success! I think he was actually ready for more room and was uncomfortable on the bouncer. I just wanted to post this in case anyone else is worried about the transition. It might go okay!

  • We moved from the pack n play to the crib last night. DD did great. She went down at 8:30 and slept until 4:30. I feed her and she went back down until 7:30. I am so proud of her but it made me a little sad at the same time.

  • Are you swaddling when you move to crib?
  • We're attempting the move tonight! I am so sad about it bc I love having her close even though she wakes me up with every toss and turn. She's been sleeping in pack n play. Nursery is down the hall - even though it's short walk it feels so far! Hoping it goes as well!
  • Did you all have to rock your babies to sleep before laying them down? My LO is 8 weeks and doesn't seem any where near ready to put herself to sleep. It's so time consuming!
  • We transferred little man to his crib last night, before that he was sleeping in bed with us. He did awesome, kind of makes me sad!
  • I still swaddle my LO in the crib. I ordered zipadee zip as a transition swaddle I'm going to start in a week or 2. I started putting my LO down awake pretty early, around 6 weeks. At first it was a bit of a struggle and I usually ended up helping him go to sleep, but now (he's 12 weeks) he almost always goes down with minimal fussing. Maybe 3 minutes of fussing. He's even going down for most naps without too much crying but unfortunately he's only taking 45 minute catnaps in the crib.
  • That is some good, encouraging news! Our little girl is 11 weeks and sleeping in a rock n play next to our bed. It's the auto rock n play, so we turn the rocker on and she sleeps the night away. I'm afraid I may have created a monster with rocking her all night and am afraid of the transition, which has to happen somewhat soon as she's outgrowing it. Those of you with crib success, I'm wondering how you dress them, blankets vs sleep sacks, crib bumpers, etc. I know the crib is supposed to be completely empty, no blankets/pillows/bumpers, just baby on her back. Is your crib mattress really firm? We bought an expensive, organic one and it seems so hard! I guess it's supposed to be though, just seems so un-snuggly!
  • We've used the rock and play since Day 1. My sister has been nagging at me that he needs to sleep in his crib otherwise it will be a nightmare. However! The last four nights he had to sleep in a pack and play because we were at my sisters and he did just fine! Like others have said, I think he did better. Rock and play is starting to get a little small. I just like having him next to my bed - so convenient!

@Maggilu514 We did the same thing, started to wonder why I ever turned the rocking on! Lol! I started to get really worried bout the rocking movement at night and if she could sleep without it, especially because we want to transition to the crib sooner rather than later. Well....last night (when I knew she was down for the night) I just put the rocking timer on 30 mins and went to bed. Success!! She sleep through the night (for the 2nd night in a row!) from 9:30-6:50 with the rnp off! Try it, if your LO wakes up, then turn it back on!
