Songs that have made you cry?

I can't seem to make it to work without hearing at least one tearjerker on the radio.. What gets to you these days?

Today it was Brad Paisley, Anything like me!

Re: Songs that have made you cry?

  • Songs of loss/abandonment make me cry as they remind me of my previous loss a few months ago.

On a more positive note, happy songs remind me of good times and those happy feelings are exacerbated by my happy pregnancy hormones so I'm super duper happy!

  • Last pregnancy: that city high song from the 90s and basically and Kenny Chesney song.

That's why this round, I listen to octane on the way to work.
  • Any of Miranda Lamberts sadder songs. Cause you know she went through her divorce and has been taking it pretty hard. I feel for her and I just love her music so much!
  • John Legend & Meghan Trainor "I'm gonna Hold You" because I saw the video once and the little old lady reminded me of my grams, so now I bawl without remorse every time I hear it.
  • Darius Rucker "It won't be like this for long"
  • Macklemore "Growing Up" I heard it for the first time right after I found out I was pregnant and started crying like a baby.

The one song that made me ugly cry when I first heard it was, "The Christmas Shoes." MH said that song by far made him the most depressed.

Oh my god that song. I can't listen to it, pregnant or not!
  • Adele's"Remedy" off her new album. It says all the things I want my son to know one day. Ahh gets me every time!!
  • "When I'm Gone" by Joey & Rory. The video was on, and I didn't even get 30 seconds into it before I was sobbing and had to change the channel. So sad!

OHH EM GEE. I BAWLED. Bawled. Thank goodness I was home chillaxin at the computer when this played. I ugly cried then too. I had to break it up and finish in separate chunks because each time I cried so hard. It's really, really, really depressing by far, especially knowing the story behind it. It's Christmas Shoes times 100.

  • I made a playlist titled "Daughters" that I have all these songs mostly about dad's and daughters, but also just parents and daughters (since we have one DD and DD2 is baking). Butterfly Kisses, When Daddy Says I'm Beautiful by Annie Moses, Daddy's Little Girl by Tim McGraw, Daughters by John Mayer, Capri by Colbie Caillat...so many songs.

  • Darius Rucker "It won't be like this for long"

Well that just made me cry thinking about it! Listening to it now bawling!
  • Literally anything City and Colour plays will have me weeping. It's all so melancholic
  • Another song that used to depress the shit out of me to the point of tears: Lonely Day - System of a Down

  • @allaire314 I know right! So sad DD isn't even born yet and I'm already crying over how fast it will go lol
  • I am not sure a song has ever made me cry. I never really thought about it before.
  • While eating dinner the other night DH was playing some Beatles music.  There are a few songs that are sad for me without pregnancy hormones, but "My Life" came on and I had to change the song and then went and sat in the bathroom and cried for 5 minutes.  Sigh
  • Songs haven't gotten to me too bad lately (maybe because DH says I love sad songs) ... but a few days ago my DS asked me if I wanted to hear him perform his selections for the UIL Prose & Poetry competition, and of course I said yes. Turns out one of the selections was a poignant poem about a mother and son called "Move Pen Move". The word "stay" is repeated several times... and there I was, pregnant and hormonal and looking at my handsome first-born child, my baby boy who is about to graduate and leave home even though I've told him again and again he can stay here while he's attending college if he wants... And of course, I cried.
  • Darius Rucker "It won't be like this for long"

That song makes me cry when I'm not pregnant.
  • This morning it was "I loved her first" by Heartland. I'm a major daddy's girl (yes even at 33 lol) and we just found out that we are likely expecting our first daughter after 3 wonderful sons. I wanted my husband to experience the daddy/daughter bond like I have with my dad so badly so this song totally had me super emotional.
    Me & DH - 2009
Gone but not forgotten: Identical twin boys born at 23 weeks - 2004
    DS1 - 2010
    DS2 - 2012
    DS3 - 2014
    Surprise # 4 due April 2016!! It's a GIRL.

This song does make me sad since my dad died when I was 8. It seems like a lot of country songs try to be sad, although I think some try too hard.
  • Anything Mumford & Sons gets the tears flowing. Most of the time, the tears are acutally happy tears, but still.....lol.

  • Before I even thought about having kids, this song always made me cry. To this day it's too many feels.

  • "A Thousand Years" by Christina Perri. That song never made me emotional until I got pregnant. Now I cry every time I hear it. Every. Single. Time.
  • Sitting here at dance class for DD and this literally just happened (I look like a crazy woman!). The song I walked down the aisle to just about 6 months ago! Sarah barrelis I choose you. I think it's bc I rarely hear it unless I play it on my phone.

It's about a man (a writer) whose dying mother asks him to write her something to make her smile, and he's willing the pen to move and reminiscing about their somewhat rocky relationship. I think hearing MY son saying those words probably affected me more than anything... although I looked it up on youtube later and couldn't make myself watch it all the way through.

Always. I always cry to it. Omg.

And "Brendan's Death Song" by Red Hot Chili Peppers.
One of my closest friends passed away last year after having battled cancer for 5 years. We grew up together and her death was really hard on me so I always cry when I listen to this song.

  • For all those daddy-daughter song lovers out there, I recommend The Girl You Think I Am by Carrie Underwood. Since my little girl won't have a father figure in her life (besides her grandfather), it just hit me right in the feels. Plus I've always had an amazing relationship with my dad.

Needless to say, I couldn't even drive my car when I first played it. Thank goodness I keep tissues in my car.
  • It's Been a While by Stained (every time it comes on it reminds me of when my fiancé and I were broken up)
Wake Up by Coheed and Cambria (That's our song)
Through the Glass by Stone Sour (I really hope LO doesn't have the same lonely childhood I did. He needs to take after his dad lol)
Hard Candy Christmas by Dolly Parton (I cried everytime I heard this before pregnant...)
  • Recently, it's been Upside Down by Jack Johnson.... Why does Curious George have to be so damn cute
  • It's Been a While by Stained (every time it comes on it reminds me of when my fiancé and I were broken up)

Yup this was also a song I listened to when I was going through a break up too.

Another song I listened to a lot during a breakup was Don't Speak from No Doubt

    ----quote fail-----

Ha, I have a looong list of breakup/boohoo songs.

    Broken by Seether

I Didn't Want to Love You Anyway by Sean McConnell

    Reckless Love by Sean McConnell

Missin You Again by JB and the Moonshine Band

In My Arms Instead by Randy Rogers

    Fix You by Coldplay

... but as usual, I digress.

I actually came here to say that a cartoon just made me cry.

  • @aa79606 Broken is one of my favorite karaoke songs with fiancé. We actually sang it together when we first got back together and it was so much feels!

Oh man, It's Been A While! So many feels. And Bother with Stone Sour always made me cry my eyes out. And Corey Taylor is YUM.

The past two days I've been listening to Speeding Cars by Imogen Heap and I broke down last night listening to it. It's very personal.
