Can we leave our mothers out of it? Just because my mother did in fact teach me respect as a child, doesn't mean I have to give it to people who come in demanding it instead of earning it.

I also respect TOU that says that you should get a feel for how a community works and introduce yourself before posting. I have respect enough to read the TOU and have acquainted myself with it.
