Hello! I am planning on using a cloth diaper laundry service that picks up once a week. I am concerned about the stink of having dirty diapers sitting for a weeks time. Does anyone have experience with cloth diaper laundry services? What are ways to combat stink as the dirty diapers pile up?? Thanks!
The services in my area provide their own pail with a disc of something for odor. When they drop off your new dipes the new pail has a fresh new disc. I personally have not used a diaper service so don't know how well that disc of odor fighter works . I hope it works out for you!
Our diaper service gave us a pail with a wet bag liner that zips shut, a carbon filter, deodorant discs, and a jar of powder to sprinkle in the diaper pail. LO is 4 days past due, so I'll let you know how it works once I finally have a baby in arms.
Love it. It has a cloth insert that you can either hang on a hook or door knob and tighten after each diaper or the insert goes directly into the Paul and the lid is airtight. It looks nice and is super effective. I wash every 3-4 days depending on if daddy watches LO(he won't use the cloth, hates the poopy diapers).
the lid is pretty tightly shut and it has a little flap that opens and closes as you use this diaper pail. I also sprinkle a little baking powder in every once in awhile to keep smells out and havent had any issues. I would definitely check with the service you are using to see if that would be okay for you to do.
I used a Tupperware designed for dog food. It was rugged, air tight and meant for heavy things so it had a handle to grab and move the whole thing. The diapers inside smelled like ammonia after a few days but it never smelled outside the container. It was only open for a few seconds at a time. Also, it cost like $10.
Maybe use a regular diaper pail and empty into a big, food grade, Tupperware twice a week. That way you aren't opening it 12 times a day.
