I was asked to meet with a witness at 1 pm. I went out and got a baked sub at 12:30, and was back in to my office and halfway through with my lunch when someone barged in my office and reminded me of my appointment. All I thought about was that lunch on my desk. The meeting lasted just shy of two hours. It might of been the longest two hours of my life.
My FFFC is I don't mind all the duplicate posts. I have my posts sorted by post date because I don't like seeing zombie threads. Also, we really only have 5-10 new threads a day (sometimes less) and a lot of those are weekly threads that get boring.

I'm a movie snob. I'm picky about what I waste time watching. Right now my DH is watching Mad Max: Fury Road and I am bored silly. Ive also never seen Smokey and the Bandit and have no desire to see it. He told his buddies at work about that and they said he should leave me lol.
I decided while I was peeing today that I don't want to change my last name. Why? Because its a pain in the ass. I don't want to go to the SS office, I don't want to go to the DMV. I know that I can mail in my application, but I don't feel comfortable in mailing all my original documents and drivers license. So I am telling DH I am just going to have his last name in spirit. I really wanted us to have a "family name" but why should I spend time and money changing licenses, passports and everything else?
A gf of mine just changed her name gradually as she had time. If she was going to be near the DMV one day she had the forms with her etc. Just in case you may like this idea

Well looks like I have to. Mentioned to DH it seems like a "hassle" and he got upset. Said during Xmas break he will go to ss office and dmv with me. Atleast I'll have some company.

Word of advice... Bring something that will entertain you for awhile to the SS office. Idk if this is the same everywhere but I literally waited 2 hours to change my name. Worst part is? Once you get to the window it takes probably 5 minutes. At least you'll get in some good people watching. Definitely had some crazies at the office I had to go to.
Honestly the other stuff isn't too bad if you don't rush it. I took like 3-4 months to complete the name change process once I actually started. That was only bc I'm lazy.

The SS office and DMV are super close in BK, and way less of a hassle than the Manhattan offices. I went to SS right when they opened and hardly waited then went to the DMV right after. It wasn't the most fun way to spend the morning but really wasn't that bad!
Oh dear Lawd! The name changing thing. Watch out for the SS office! I'm serious. Make sure they do your name change correctly the first time. Went in to change my name and wanted my maiden name to be my middle name and my husband last name to be my last name. Got my social security card in the mail and it had my name printed on it. Did not think anything of it until time to do our taxes. We file online and everytime DH went to put in my name and info it said I did not exist. Had no idea what was going on. Went back to SS office and turns out those incompetent morons (to put it way to nicely) instead of making my maiden name my middle name, they gave me TWO LAST NAMES. There was no dash on my ss card to indicate this. So its like First Name Lastname Lastname. Then when I told them that they messed up and I wanted it fixed I was informed that I would have to go to the courthouse and pay several hundred dollars to get a legal name change when it was their fault in the first freaking place. I escalated it and got the same answer. So unless I'm willing to shell out a lot of money I don't have, Im stuck with two last names. Which let me tell you is a PITA all the time. Trying to fill out forms and tell places that need my legal name the correct way to put it and then they don't.
So if you do go change your name, make sure, double check, triple check that they do it right!

@ladysamlady did you go to the one on montague street?
@yogahh I went to the one that's kind of near the barclays center in fort greene, my old neighborhood. The dmv is in the bldg across the street from target and SS is right nearby.
