Would you call?

So I've been ignoring this but I told my friend about it and she told me I should call my doctor and ask about it. Anyways. Almost everytime I pee, I'll go but then I have to "push" to get the rest out and I get this sharp pain. At first I thought UTI but I don't feel the urge to go all the time, no burning and normally I have blood in my urine when I get one. I've just chalked it up to baby squishing my bladder.

Is this something you would call your doctor about? Or does it sound normal? I'll be 38w on Saturday.

Re: Would you call?

  • Even though it may not be YOUR normal, it still sounds like a UTI. I'd call and ask for a lab to be done.

  • Best to call. Could be a UTI, kidney infection or totally normal. Never ignore something out of your normal range especially if there is pain involved.
  • It's been happening for a couple weeks now. Just called to make sure but nurse thinks it's just baby cause he's super low right now. But I have to mention it at my next visit so they can do a UA. Oh the joys of pregnancy conversations.
  • Make sure you're drinking enough water too. I find that if I haven't drank enough, I feel some weirdness.
  • I've had similar issues on and off since w25.  The nurse had some odd advice that works: lift your tummy.
  • Similiar issues for me too. Got checked for a UTI but test results were negative. I think you may need to up your water intake but def talk to your doctor just in case
  • I was just going to suggest a UA.
  • I second the lifting of tummy. Or I press my hand on the muscles in that area. They get sore and it can hurt so pushing on them seems to relieve that a bit.
  • I actually have heard the same advice. When you're sitting to go, lift up your belly. Sometimes that relieves enough pressure that it allows your bladder to do it's thing a bit more normally. That being said, I'm glad you called and I think a UA just to be sure is a great idea too. If it gets any worse between now and your next appt I'd consider going in to get some rather than waiting until the appt ... but that's just me (as someone who gets UTIs like it's her job).
  • Ohandalso @tewinkle27 I am DYING to click on your GA Winter Finale post but I'm guessing it has spoilers, yes? If so, I haven't watched yet :( but I'm so tempted!!
  • No it doesn't!! I promise! I just watched it today! @VesperLove

I've up my water intake (I've been pretty bad about that) and I'll try the belly thing!
