Getting stuff done around the house

Hi mommas!

What do you guys do with lo while getting stuff done around the house? Basically I've been just sitting in a room with ds chained to the tv but I'm ready to be more productive! We have a nursery set up w monitor but he won't spend much time in the crib alone.

So what are your tips and tricks? Pls also suggest a specific product (if you use one). Tia!

Re: Getting stuff done around the house

  • We use a swing in the living room or her rock n play in our bedroom. Which ever end of the house I start at.
  • Loading the player...
  • I'm in the same boat right now. DS is almost 8 weeks and has decided not to take long naps during the day. He will fall asleep on me and then when I move him to either the pnp or swing he's fine for about 30 min- 1 hr then wakes up. My house is falling apart, and I'm starting not to care. I get to what I can get to...
  • Maybe I will try that! I feel like I should be able to get things done around the house... Putting clothes a away is a victory anymore lol
  • I got a moby style wrap but it has a lumbar belt. I use that or a ring sling for when he wont nap. It is my saving grace!
  • I use a solly baby wrap and an ergobaby 360 carrier. When he is in those he usually falls asleep within minutes! Otherwise, he sleeps on top of our bed in a co-sleeper for his daytime naps or in his moses basket. He isn't a fan on his swing so I've only ever used it once!
  • I love my Moby wrap. That is my go to item when I need to get things done!
  • I usually set him in his bouncer in whatever room I'm in. If he gets too fussy I just stop what I'm doing and take care of him. Thank goodness my husband doesn't get mad at half finished projects :)
  • I just cleaned the house with my baby in a wrap. I have a Moby, a happy wrap, and an ergo baby 360. The happy is awesome for outside since its still so hot here.
  • I use the K'tan for baby wearing and I try to plan some small goals that I can do in an hour or two time for when baby is sleeping. I feel like I am living in two hour increments and as soon as baby falls asleep (in a swing or rock and play!) I am off and it is a race against when baby will wake! I can do a lot of tidying while wearing her, but dishes and cooking are tasks to be done when she is sleeping somewhere else! I like our fisher price portable swing (a hand me down from a family member that I use more than our full sized swing..due to portability) and the rock and play because I can move them to any room I am in with relative ease.
  • I love the idea of a baby carriers but I'm plus size and worried they won't fit... Any plus size mom's have experience with any baby carriers??

I am not plus sized myself, but my SO is very round.... And he has comfortably worn the ergo baby 360 (with the infant insert). He offered to wear her in a wrap, and I'm sure it would fit him, but he hasn't yet. I wrap it back around my waist an extra time and the fabric still hangs down to my knee if I don't tuck it in or make a huge bow. It's awesome. At buy buy baby you can try them on if you are still unsure, but I'm sure you'll be fine. Happy baby wearing!
  • I am like a size 18 right now and I can wear the Moby wrap with plenty of extra length.
  • baby boy is in the moby right now with me!!  it's a lifesaver for sure.

  • I just bought the boba (only bc it was in stock at target). Looking forward to using it, just need time to throw it in the wash! I've been really anchored and my arms get tired from carrying him around. Thanks everyone for your suggestions !

  • Definitely boba wrap or a bouncer!
  • Front carriers are a miracle. When LO is particularly clingy that's how I'm still able to get things done... that or go run an errand or do whatever shopping I need to do so that he'll fall asleep (driving puts him to sleep) and then I just keep him in his car seat when we get back, I just put it on the floor in the living room or right in his crib.
  • I'm plus size and use the moby. There are YouTube videos on baby wearing with the moby for plus size moms.
