GTKY: Pets!

I thought this would be a good GTKY board to share pictures of our pets and stories about them! I always see on BFM or WTF Wednesday some of us talking about our pets being annoying (me being one of them). If you want, share a picture or two of your pets, the story of how you got them, and any fun facts. If you don't have any pets feel free to share a picture of a pet you would like to have.

We have 2 pets. Our cat Charlie and our new puppy. We adopted our cat from Petsmart back in July. He was our first fur baby together! He likes to take his cat toys and put them in the toilet and then fish them out lol. We just bought our puppy a week ago. DH has always wanted a Doberman and we found him for a really good deal so we said why not? Charlie and him are best friends! They like to wrestle around the living room and steal each other's toys lol. I feel like my fur babies keep me sane on boring days that I'm home alone while DH has staff duty or just any day really!

DH and I can't wait to get a dog, but he wants a giant one and we just don't have the living space or yard for a big dog. Plus I told him I would only potty train one thing at a time, so a dog won't be happening for at least a couple more years.

I want a Boxer so badly! We've had two of them together over the years and I miss them dearly. We plan to get another one soon after this LO is born

Understandable lol! Our pup will be a BIG boy! I'm glad we got him now so he'll be potty trained by time the baby comes. It'll be easier having him trained with a new baby around vs. if he wasn't!

You make a great point about the potty training. Are you at all worried about him being jealous of the new baby? That's the only reason we were thinking of waiting til after baby. So the puppy is the new kid on the block. Lol

We have 2 dogs, Pete and Bella. Pete is an 11 year old mixed breed cattle dog that I've had since he was abound 6 weeks old. His mother stopped caring for her pups and he was the runt of a litter of 12. He's a charming 85 pound doofus.

Bella is a 5 year old Australian Sheppard that we got from a family member. She's super smart and fast (and bossy).

Their pics are from one of their baths this summer because really, what's cuter that wet, slightly disgruntled pups? (Bella is the one who is seated and Pete is standing.)

@runningwild No, I'm not too worried about him being jealous. He's really good with our cat when we hold him etc. He's kind of to him self right now unless we bother him to play. When we take him to the dog park or to our friends, he does really good with sharing the attention so I think as long as we keep doing what we do he will do good!

My parents have a 15.5 year old Sheltie that we got while I was in 4th grade. She's very feeble and we're surprised every day that she wakes up in the morning. Mom and Dad are hoping she'll go peacefully in her sleep and they'll not need to put her down, but her quality of life is incredibly low now,, so it's looking more and more likely

Ugh, bless yours and your families hearts. My family and I dealt with the same thing a few years ago. My parents had bought a German Shepherd when I was a little girl. She grew up with me and was the best family dog possible. She passed after 14 years 3 years ago. We were really hoping like your family that she passed peacefully where she grew up and one night she did. We are thankful for that. I think it would've been hard to take her away from her home to have her put down. Pets are like family members and it's extremely hard losing them.

I never posted on that one, so I'll share my poochie pups here!

We have Scout (chocolate lab) who will be 3 at the end of the month, and Loki (german shepherd) who will be 3 in February. They are awesome, goofy, funny, smart, and frustrating all at the same time! Oddly enough, Scout hates the water and isn't inclined to fetch... where as Loki is a terrible guard dog but loves to swim and fetch. Hope they are good with our baby girl!

The second picture is from a mountain biking trip we took this summer - Loki loved it because the trail ran along a stream so he could splash around.

There was 2 created in August. I figured I'd make a new one for everyone to post on now. It's my fault for not searching before but I hadn't seen one since I joined so I had no idea there were even any until you said something!

We have a Viszla that will be 4 in Feburary and her name is Charleigh. We also have a 1 year old German Shorthair named Zoey. Sadly I don't have any pictures of them on my phone because I lost all of them! They are super cute and active!

Shelby is our 8.5 year old Old English Bulldog and Ratchet is our 10 year old fat Maine Coon Cat...

Shelby is such a good dog - has had 5 tumors removed (my poor wallet) and is a great friend to DD. She ignored DD for the first year or so but now understands she gives treats and hugs (and tackles) so now they are friends.

This is Ratchet in his summer haircut... he's a typical asshole cat. Clawed me last night after i took DD to the bathroom at 2am. I ouched and DD said aww mom are you okay? LOL too cute. sometimes he is nice but it's rare. DH would rather just open the door for him and let him go and says all the time he has zero redeeming qualities. I like him.

We have 2 mini dachshunds, Ariele (short hair) and Jasper (long hair). They are from the same litter. We adopted them for our 1 year anniversary, so they are 4 1/2 now. We usually call Jasper our Fuzzy Bug, and (sadly) Ariele is more familliar with her nn Tubbykins than she is with her real name lol.

Furbaby Fridays used to be a thing on my old BMB...I keep wanting to bring it back here, but then Friday comes and I'm just so grateful its Friday and the weekend is in site I just forget. But it was always fun to share weekly before!

We've got 2 big mutts. Kipper is a 13.5 y/o cattle dog mix. He's having more and more issues (enlarged heart and hypertension) and I don't know how much longer he'll be with us

he's my baby still and I've had him since college!
Jones is about 3 and some sort of boxer/pit/lab/something mix. He's equal parts extremely stupid and super smart, and a total spaz. His pic is from two months ago when he stole a whole Costco pack of croissants, ate half, and played with the other half.

We've got three puppies. One I bought into the relationship and two he bought into the relationship. Our little old lady is 12 she's a lab mix. My parents got her from the pound when she was 3 months old. I was in the 3rd grade. Then there's Elka. She's the diva (she's daddy's princess and she knows it) she's about 9 now and she's a Australian Shepard chow mix. Bf got her before he moved down here when she was just a baby. Then there's the baby and only boy. Buddy. He's a jack russel heeler mix and is four. He actually belonged to bf's brother but the dude has no clue how to take care of animals so bf took him in. They're all cuddle bugs and are getting slightly unhappy that they can't just lay across mommy anymore but I wouldn't trade them for the world

We have two dogs, both rescues.

Sprocket (the sleepy dog) is 6 and an English pointer/pit mix. He was a birthday present from DH (we picked him out together) when we were living in NY.

Gadget just turned 2 and is a st.bernard/pointer/border collie/beagle super mutt. We adopted her through a rescue organization here in Atlanta after my MMC.

They can both be major assholes but we love them.

That makes me want to start it up again! Especially having a cat who comes up with something new and wild to do every day. He is your typical asshole cat. Not to mention, I wouldn't mind posting an update of my cute pup once a week.

Your fur baby's hat reminded me of my trip to Petsmart last night. While buying our fur babies a few toys they had this birthday pie for dogs and I thought it was the cutest thing!

We have a very fat house cat named Catsby (aka "the Great Catsby"). He sleeps on my husband's side of the bed and insists that husband cuddle him like a teddy bear, pretty much all night. It's ridiculous.

Hank is an Olde English/ American Bulldog mix. My fiance and I got him when he was about a year and a half old when we first moved in together. He's five now. He's spoiled rotten and my big baby. He's going to be so jealous when the baby gets here. I'm super worried about the adjustment for him.

Ahh I wanna play! All our pets were rescued of some sort - two cats and a dog. We took in Simba from a friend who was going through a nasty divorce and couldn't keep him. He's a 3-year-old orange Maine Coon and weighs around 20 pounds now, will probably grow to be 30ish. He has become the biggest cuddle bug and with me, my body pillow, and Simba sharing the bed, DH has about a foot of space to sleep on

Nala is our shelter rescue, about two now, and a gorgeous little calico. She was on the streets for a while, but after 5 months she's finally starting to warm up to us. She and Simba like to watch us poop and shower.
Athena is a 50 pound, 6-month-old lab/German shephard mix and the reason we moved out of our apartment. She's very sweet and playful but doesn't realize how much bigger she is than the cats when she wants to play.

@AmadorRose Charlie eats like crazy! He's just long and short and his belly sags to the ground lol! Our puppy will end up eating us out of the house I'm sure when he's bigger! He's a Doberman so he'll be a big boy!

We have a five month old boxer named Kobe! He is thankfully all potty trained now! We are a little nervous about him being a little jealous of the baby as he is the one who gets all of the attention now wherever we go

he is great with kids in our neighbourhood though so no worries there!

Thank you! He's responding really well to the treatment and they think they got it all at his last surgery. He goes for blood work next month to make sure it didn't spread. He has a limp now, but thankfully they were able to save his leg. Now we're just trying to fatten him back up
