Baby Movement...

OK.  I am zipping up my flame suit.  I think I sound crazy.

Is there anyway that at 11w4d you can feel the baby?  I was sitting down on the couch and was stretching my back by putting my hands down by the floor (I hope you can get that visual).  And I felt what seemed to be movement.  I am a STM, so I do know what baby movement feels like, and before you ask if I farted, I am pretty confident they weren't gas bubbles.

So before you call me totally crazy - is it possible?

Re: Baby Movement...

  • Is there room in your flame suit for me? I'm 11 weeks 5 days with my second and I'm feeling...something.

  • I'm a second time mom too, and even when I wasn't pregnant after my first was born I would feel what I called "ghost baby". In my opinion, muscle twitches in your stomach feel an awful lot like early baby movement, since I knew what to look for. I'm 11 weeks and have had these same "twitches" a couple of times. Baby is still REALLY small, so I don't think what we are feeling is legit baby yet. Sorry!

  • I'm almost 13 weeks and felt baby about a week and a half ago while I was driving. The seat belt was pretty snug and I think that's the only reason I felt it. Nothing since then but it was def baby moves. :) totally possible!
  • ARE YOU CRAZY?!?!??

Haha just kidding... I can't wait until I feel baby move! :)

  • I'm a FTM so I have no experience other than a decent base in science so thats what im basing my answer off of.

From what I understand, it isn't until 15 or so weeks that you can even feel flutters that may be baby, may be gas, because baby just isn't strong enough until that point to move strongly enough to actually register feeling. If you were 14 or so weeks, I might be inclined to think you've just got a strong little bugger in there but so much growth happens in the 4 weeks between now and then.

Fwiw, I have gotten gas movement that doesn't result in a fart, its just my intestines moving and the air in them moving around. With some added pressure on your intestines as baby grows, its possible you're just feeling weird gas you haven't felt before.
  • My friend had a US at 12 weeks and the baby kicked it off of her stomach. She said her doctor agreed it was the baby.

She also said she thinks she's actually 14 weeks along because they moved her due date back two weeks but she's pretty sure she ovulated on time. (Wasn't religiously tracking though)

    I haven't decided if I believe her though ;)

  • Yes you can. If you know your body and know what they feel like, I wouldn't doubt it. I felt flutters with my first before 13 weeks. I had an anterior placenta the second time around so I felt way less movement.
That's so exciting! I love when I can feel the baby. It's reassuring

  • Me too!! I'm almost 12 weeks and I've been feeling a few little twitches the last few days and I've been thinking its baby. I'm so excited, I love feeling baby move around. It's like he or she is saying "Hi Mommy, I'm doing just fine in here!!"

I think I remember feeling first kicks with my second around 17ish weeks?? - but those were kicks that I could actually feel from the outside, if I pressed my belly a bit. Kicks that I could feel I swear started around 15w - so I'd be inclined to say maybe it's muscle twitches but hey - who knows. If the baby is actually the size of lime - it's feasible? Maybe? I don't think that question is as flame worthy at almost 12w as when it's asked at 8 weeks....so I wouldn't fear the flame here ;-)

  • I felt my first at 16 weeks. The only reason I could differentiate it between gas is because it occurred with the drums beat at a Jamaican band. Every time the drum would get loud I'd feel flutters. Baby is still so tint at 11 weeks I'd feel a bit skeptical unless your dates may be off?
  • I'm a STM too and I'm the same weeks as you and I've been feeling my Lil one for 2 weeks! It's totally normal and so awesome!
  • Could be phantom kicks. My mom felt them with my brother and even after she delivered us. I've had moments where I was like "maybe" but then I realized it was a little muscle twitch.
  • I felt the same thing two nights ago!! I was laying down and pushing my on little bump and felt something!!!! I thought I was crazy but began researching and I think it is possible?!  STM here too
  • I felt my first at 16 weeks too. I'm anxious to feel this one earlier maybe, my vote is gas now... Until I'm in your shoes.

I agree 100%. I'm a second time Mom also and I felt the phantom kicks after giving birth. I've felt flutters a couple times this week (11 weeks today) but I doubt it's baby. Probably uterus stretching and moving or muscle twitches. I've felt a lot going on down there but I'm pretty sure it's not baby yet.
  • We may need a bigger flame suit ladies. I'm 11 weeks 3 days and have felt small twitches a couple of times that felt just like early movement with dd.

  • My vote is not quite baby yet.
I've been getting funny twinges and things but I'm positive it isn't baby movement yet.

But when I use the Doppler I can hear movement sometimes :) that's how I finally clued in with DD that I was feeling something because I felt and heard it at the same time.

  • I felt my last baby (#3) at 11 weeks and it was confirmed as I asked during an ultrasound, but it was radio silence after that for like another 2 weeks. So, yes, I think if you're in the right position you can feel baby :)

  • I'm 11 W 3 D and after eating a handful of grapes tonight, I swear I felt something.
  • Is there room for me in there? I told DH I swear I felt it move when I was lying down on the bed next to him. I told him not to tell anyone because they'd think I'm crazy. I'm 11+4 and this was a couple of days ago...

  • I swear I felt my baby right around 10 weeks. I was leading a meditation with my Zumba class. I was lying real still on the floor 'focusing' on my energy (aka not trying to fall asleep), and felt this little 'bloop' right in there. I felt like a tiny bumper car ran into something. Maybe I'm nuts, but I swear it was the baby. I probably won't feel the peanut again for awhile but it was SO COOL! So, I think you maybe could have felt your little one too!
  • I guess it could be, especially since u are a STM. However, it could also be the feeling of increased blood flow in your uterus, or your uterus stretching. No way to know for sure
  • I am 11 weeks and I just started getting little flutters....I would LOVE if it was baby, but I am sure its not.  My word of caution--be careful what you wish for LOL. With DD I wanted so desperately to feel her and thought every little flutter was for sure her.  When I finally did feel her and was for sure it was her, she didn't stop!  She turned out to be a UFC fighter and kicked all of the time!!

  • I'm 14 weeks and swear I feel kicking. I'm not telling anyone about it until 16 weeks in case it's gas or muscle twitches
  • Feeling flutters that early is totally legit. You're not feeling kicks, you're feeling waves. Totally makes sense.

I thought I felt a kick last night. But I also had a bump yesterday (which I don't have today), so either the baby kicked my bump away or I tooted. Vote gas but love your flame suit!

  • 14+3. Felt something this morning while cuddling with the cat. It was just gas..... Lol. Then this evening as I was practically sleeping from a food coma (DH made chicken adobo for dinner..... So good!!) and I felt some kind of flutter that I haven felt before when I've got the toots or belly bubbles. Who knows what's going on in there!! Maybe it was gas, or maybe baby was just getting excited about the chicken dinner we had! :)
