Speaking of VS I love them do they have a pregnancy line of PJ's they are so comfy and I cold MN I want some cozy soft PJ's as this blump becomes a blimp also don't be mean be kind.
Does anyone else feel they should just have 2 separate threads to group you according to "attitude". You girls can keep Bitchfest and maybe we will start a Unicorns thread. Lol. Not all groups naturally gravitate together in life and the Internet is the same! Still want to be able to share with and support like minded people. @kmarie833 you are welcome to join in anytime! You seem lovely. You should come to the UK, it's lovely and cool here! But it's raining everyday at the moment!
Come on people, if you wouldn't walk around in it in public, you shouldn't be posting it on a public Internet forum. I'm guessing we would all be side eye OP if we saw Her grocery shopping in her underwear, yes? So what is the difference in her posting underwear pics online on a PUBLIC forum? Am I offended by the pic? no... But it's just unnecessary and doesn't make a whole lot of sense
I know this is already way over but I just have to say I think it's hilarious that this is a "thing"... I was also shocked at the uproar for "no pictures of pee sticks"... REALLY!?!? We can use the word TWAT every single Tuesday and we have posts about how deep sex should be in the first tri but we can't see a generic woman's body with undies on from a side view. And we cant see a pregnancy test that was peed on? We all JUST saw one in real life... Or maybe 5! What are we? 5 yrs old!? And yet 99% of you happily walk into Victoria's Secret--- or at least pass it in the mall--- with HUGE photos of breasts and crotches and wait for it... UNDERWEAR that is screaming "look at my privates!" This is not nearly what the OP intended and it is so immature of you ladies to torment her for posting what we see in the mirror every day. In fact, we should WELCOME and celebrate a woman who can share what her body looks like in a non-sexual way and applaud her for liking what she sees. Man! That will be the day- when a woman can be a non-sexualized body and be appreciated for it.
@babyweber3 I totally agree with this, especially the pee sticks thing! I really can't see what is wrong with that. Urine is sterile and even if it wasn't you can't catch anything looking at a computer screen. Seriously what gives? Apparently, old wives tales are also off the menu, something which is light hearted and should be taken with a pinch of salt! I found the "how deep and rough" conversation far more bizarre!
I agree! I found it odd how people are saying 'I would wear my undies around in public why show it on a forum?'. Well we also don't walk around talking about our cm, how sore our boobs are or other related pregnancy symptoms. We are on a pregnancy board! Seriously! i even saw how someone was flamed for mentioned her miscarriage and how that rain on someone's parade. I have been on the knot and various bump boards over the years and have never seen one as rude and snarky as this one.
Oh give it up already. We've already established that there are different personalities in every group. It is what it is. Yes, this is a pregnancy forum - so talking about things that matter when it comes to getting pregnant (CM, sex, etc) is part of that from an educational standpoint.
Posting pictures in your underwear is completely different than the aforementioned. I for one, wouldn't share personal pictures like that on any public forum. A swimsuit in public is different. But I STILL wouldn't post a picture just myself in a swimsuit online. I'm not prude, you just never know who is looking. And once it's out there, it's out there for anyone. Not just people on this board. But hey, if you're ok with your half naked pictures on the internet, go for it.
Same with posting pee sticks. Just why? The first trimester board has a thread specifically for that if people really want to share. I think the issue there is more so that there really is no reason to post the picture in the first place. Either there's a line, or there isn't. A bunch of internet strangers aren't going to see a line any better than you, and if there is no line, you're not pregnant. Simple. And if you're just posting it to prove that you are in fact pregnant? We've all seen an HPT before. They all look the same. You're pregnant, we believe you.
And to the last comment about "flaming someone for their miscarriage" - did you even read that entire thread? It was a thread posted for to ease people's minds, and one person came in trying to discourage any hope there may have been. She wasn't flamed for her miscarriage by any means. In fact, everyone after that comment was very empathetic about her loss. It was the fact that her comment completely inappropriate for the entire thread.
In general, The Bump is more of an educational and scientific online forum as opposed to other communities. I think that also plays a big part.

One thing to add - There are plenty of other forums that are totally open to pee sticks and gender theories. As far as pee sticks go, its in the guidelines pinned to every.single.board that pee sticks aren't okay. Maybe I'm just the weird one who reads those things. As far as old wives tales, this particular site focuses more on the science behind conception and pregnancy than the woo. Posts about gender theories get side-eyed for that reason.
I have a Biology degree so I don't come to the bump for science! That is what University, Midwives and Google is for. I come for chat, friendship and fun. To view the bump as a scientific tool is pushing it slightly!

Disagree. There is plenty of physiology-based, medically-sound information available on TB. There is also plenty of foo foo nonsense. However, the difference between the two is quite clear.

As do I (through masters, going for PhD). I know from a science perspective that it doesn't matter where your placenta is, or whether a ring spins/sways, or whether your pee makes baking soda fizz, or cabbage water change colors or your age at conception or any of the other gender theories out there. Is it fun to do them? Sure, with your family, but not with a board of people who you've known for all of a month (some more if they've moved up from TTGP).
No one is saying its a science tool, just that things with no basis in science are outed for being exactly what they are here.
Yes, and who gets to choose what nonsense is ok? Just let people discuss what they want and if you don't want to be part of it then don't!
Please use the quote function so it's clear to whom you are responding.
This horse had been pretty well beaten to death.
ETA: @Sgoldberg247 just said it above. TB isn't a scientific "tool" per se, but yet one of the myriad of resources available online for information related to pregnancy, which happens to have a community of members generally more interested in the science involved rather than inaccurate nonsense. So, if "nonsense" is purported, it should be corrected with science. The more you know.

Good for you on your biology degree. I never said TB was used specifically as a scientific tool. I don't think anyone ever did. All we said was that we value science based facts vs phony crap. And if you stick around, you'll see that we many of us get along great, have fun and have formed friendships outside of TB as well.
People can have fun anyway they like! If people want to discuss old wives tales for fun they can! Why do get to tell everyone else what to do? Who made you boss?
Listen, if you're going to come on here preaching about shaming then at least take the time to read the whole thread.
1. There were NINETEEN non-snarky, supportive comments on this thread before the first snarky comment was posted. And yes, that snarky comment was from me.
2. Using the word "torment" to describe this thread and the opinions expressed in it is completely ridiculous. It annoys me when words like this are used inappropriately. Torment is not what happened here. Is anyone here causing OP severe mental suffering? That is the definition of torment (that or severe physical suffering). I really don't think so. Don't abuse words that have very serious implications.
3. The most "insulting" comment I could find was someone saying "put some pants on". Most were expressing not being interested in seeing a photo of this person in their underwear. Check out this terrible shaming comment: "I don't mean to be disrespectful OP, but it's a little showy for my taste." HOW DARE SHE!?!? Express an opinion in such a rude and shaming manner. tsk tsk
4. The WKs who came on here and started yelling "shaming" at everyone annoy me way more than the actual photo did. Go back, read the comments and you'll actually see that not one was 'shaming' her or attacking her.
And I will reiterate my previous point - if you're going to come on an internet forum and one of the very first thing you post (I couldn't see any previous comments, but I could be wrong) is a headless photo of yourself lounging in your undies - I'm going to make a joke. I'd make the very same joke if my best friend sent me a photo of her in her undies showing off a bump. (except my friends don't do that.)
Don't try to make this into a women shaming, sexualization of women's bodies post. It's not.
*edited to correct mistake on OP's posting history.

Again, the quote function would be appreciated.
Look, continuing this argument will get all of us exactly nowhere. No one is asserting themselves as "the boss". Stances on this issue have been clearly stated. It's a public forum, differences of opinion will happen, and that's just how it is.
Yes, and who gets to choose what nonsense is ok? Just let people discuss what they want and if you don't want to be part of it then don't!
Nonsense is pretty well defined by what is scientifically sound. It's not a personal decision, its scientific fact. It's an open forum, people are going to speak their minds. Welcome to the internet.

I'm really not sure who you are referring to? I hope it's not me as you have obviously confused me with another member. I haven't refered to "torment" or shaming. . Different person!

Not her first post. She also had a post about if it was okay to take codeine for a headache. Mobile makes it impossible to find previous post history. I always have to request the desktop version to see older posts.
