Trouble TTC

Hi Everyone! (children mention)

edited November 2015 in Trouble TTC
Hello everyone.  I wanted to introduce myself.  I amnot even sure if this is the correct board.  6 1/2 years ago I gave birth to beautiful twin girls.  It took us about a year of trying to get pregnant.  Actually got a positive text 2 days before we had a scheduled appt with an RE.  Since they were born, we have done nothing to avoid having more kids, but nothing happened.  Earlier this year we made the decision to actively start trying again.  I jumped right into what worked for us before, OPK's.  Unfortunately, several months later I am still not getting a "peak" reading.  I talked to my OB last week and we are going to do bloodwork with this cycle.  Not sure what she is testing for.  I am getting up there in age (38) so logically i know that my chances are lower.  I love my daughters, but feel a whole for more children.  I have no idea what questions I should be asking or what I should be doing.  I feel even more lost this time around than before.  I know that just becuase we conceived before does not mean we will again.  Like I said, I am not sure if this is the correct board.  If it is not, I respect that.  Thanks!

  • Welcome!

I think you are welcome to post here if you would like. This board is very receptive to those looking to give and receive support, but there are also boards for trying to concieve a sibling and secondary infertility that you might fit into as well. Nothing wrong with participating on more than one board. I post here as well as TTCAL.

With that said - if you can afford a reproductive endocrinologist I would recommend that over an OB. I think with your history that is the best place to start.

I hope you get answers and a BFP soon!

  • Hi welcome! This is a great board for you to be a part of! Like PP mentioned, there are other boards that would also be good, and I'd add TTC after 35 to that list too. It's great to participate on different boards - you'll find each has its own subculture so you can decide what is best for you, or stay active on several.

I hope your blood work sheds some light on what is going on, and either way I would second PP's recommendation to see an RE. Depending on your insurance, it may not cost you anything more. They specialize in getting you pregnant, while the OB specializes in keeping you pregnant and delivering.
