How are you feeling? tender breasts and I have been getting a lot of upset stomach (not nausea, but more IBS stuff).

Rants/raves or positive vibes: Just anxiously awaiting my dating / viability ultrasound next week.

GTKY: if you work do you plan to return to work as you did pre baby, how long will you take for mat leave?  I am going to hopefully take the full 12 weeks we get of leave, I only took 6 weeks with the last two babies and I wish I could have afforded to stay home longer with them.  We only get paid 2/3 our salary for 6 weeks (but also have to use a week of vacation time for it), and the rest is unpaid, so DH and I are saving now, and hopefully will be able to afford me taking that time off.

  • How far along are you? 6w3d

How are you feeling? Mostly good. Except exhausted by 4pm everyday. And my boobs are terribly terribly sore

Rants/raves or positive vibes: currently baking three cakes for a family party of my fiancé tomorrow. Meeting all of his family I haven't met yet, kind of nervous since most of them don't speak english (my fiancée is Tanzanian and we live here). My swahili language skills are good but not yet fluent so I'm quite nervous!

GTKY: if you work do you plan to return to work as you did pre baby, how long will you take for mat leave?
Since I'm a volunteer my schedule is pretty flexible, but I hate to think of taking too much time away since I work with a home for orphaned/abandoned infants and toddlers. I think I will be able to go to work with my baby even f just a few hours a day.

How are you feeling? Just hanging out here at 4am, thanks insomnia!

Rants/raves or positive vibes: we leave for vacation today! We are driving to Montana and I worry I am going to have to pee every hour. We are also going to be cut off from the outside world for half the week. Our phones don't work, not going to lie it makes me a little nervous but also excited.

GTKY: if you work do you plan to return to work as you did pre baby, how long will you take for mat leave?
SAHMommas: when do you find time for yourself? Time to myself, ha what is that!?
  • How far along are you? 4 wks 5 days

How are you feeling? Woke up with some nausea. Super bloated and I don't wanna move but I have to work! My books feel like bowling balls and hurt so bad. I just got 3 new victoria secret bras that I feel won't fit me for long..

Rants/raves or positive vibes: Just really waiting for the day before thanksgiving for our ultrasound!

GTKY: if you work do you plan to return to work as you did pre baby, how long will you take for mat leave? Well my work doesn't technically give maturity leave, they call it short term disability. I will have to save all of my vacation days and use them all for that (2 wks) and then short term disability kicks in and I would have up to 12 weeks.

How are you feeling? Good. Occasionally have AF-like cramps and my breasts/nipples go between mildly sensitive to ridiculously sensitive.

Rants/raves or positive vibes: my cold is getting better and I have been eating honey sticks for the cough. Going to nyc this weekend and hoping it goes away completely!

GTKY: if you work do you plan to return to work as you did pre baby, how long will you take for mat leave? I work 36 hrs a week as a nurse right now and I plan to return at 24-36 hours/wk post baby. It will depend on how much we can afford at the time. My profession isn't one where I can take years off and stay current. I will take 10-12 weeks for maternity leave, assuming I only have one baby in there :)

How are you feeling? I felt really god yesterday. I had zero nausea which freaked me out of course.

Rants/raves or positive vibes: I have a cold. Ugh.

GTKY: if you work do you plan to return to work as you did pre baby, how long will you take for mat leave? I'll be taking the full year ( in Canada too). Right now my job is casual/on call so I hope to get a permanent position prior to going on maternity leave.

  • How far along are you? 3+6

How are you feeling? I cried 4 times yesterday.  Don't know if that's the pregnancy or my anxiety.  Need to go post in that thread next.  My breasts are still sore

Rants/raves or positive vibes: My husband is gone for the weekend hunting so I'm planning on turning up the heat to 68 and getting cozy.  Lots of naps, snuggling with my animals and watching Netflix.

GTKY: if you work do you plan to return to work as you did pre baby, how long will you take for mat leave? Similar to @oandmplus1 I get 6 weeks of 2/3rds pay, but need to use a full week of vacation first.  After that it's unpaid.  DH and I still need to crunch the numbers, but I'm hoping for 9 weeks.

How are you feeling? Always exhausted. I fell asleep at 8:30 last night and slept until 8 this morning and will probably need a nap before we head to Friendsgiving this afternoon. I've had brown spotting the past few days that has been freaking me out, but it sounds like it's pretty common.

Rants/raves or positive vibes: We are going to tell a few of our friends today! DHs best friend had a baby a year ago and he is really looking forward to telling him today to have someone who has been through it to talk to. Afterwards, we are headed to a party at my best friends house to tell them (and also tell them that we have to push back our vacation with them a year
  • @oandmplus1 that's pretty much our jam, too. Because I've been at my job for 5 years now, I get 8 weeks paid at 80%, 10 if it's a c-section (so generous, eyeroll,) and can take a total of 12. And yeah, they snatch away one week of my hard earned vacation time just for funsies, apparently.

How far along are you? 5 weeks today

How are you feeling? I have to poop. A little crampy, little bean is definitely making their presence known, and my boobs hurt. I just put on a sports bra that USED to be too big, and now things are a little better. I'm having some food smell aversions today - like I let my daughter have a donut for breakfast and it's sitting beside me and I can't stand the way it smells - a freaking donut, are you kidding me? Little baby do you not know me but at all?!

Rants/raves or positive vibes: I have a head cold that kept me up all night. And heartburn. But I keep walking around with a stupid grin on my face because it took us a year to get pregnant this time :)

GTKY: I'm from Nova Scotia, Canada, and so is my entire family. We visit once or twice a year for a week, and my parents come to us once a year. I'm proud of where I come from, but I love where I live! WV is lovely.

SAHMommas: when do you find time for yourself? yay for symptoms! It makes me more hopeful!

We are going into the nearest city tonight for dinner and a movie with my inlaws! It will be our first time taking DS to a movie.

    GTKY:

My in laws are awesome about babysitting, they love having DS over. So we take advantage of that every once and a while! Otherwise when DS goes to sleep at 7pm

How far along are you? 7 weeks 1 day How are you feeling? Pretty normal, I have yet to have morning sickness, just pretty much upset stomach. Nips are sore, yelled at my husband last night for touching them. Next time I swear I'll flick him in his you know whats. He just sees my humongous boobs and looses his mind. Men.

Rants/raves or positive vibes: A little jealous of all the ladies getting ultra sounds and I have to wait 20 weeks. I should have lied and said I wasn't sure when my lmp was. I think we're getting the first trimester screening, blood work and a u/s but I don't think that's a very good reason to have an u/s. I don't know, I believe in jinx and karma.

GTKY: if you work do you plan to return to work as you did pre baby, how long will you take for mat leave? I get to switch from full time to part time, and only because my dh wants me to switch to full time student status to finish my degree. I'm playing catch up at 28 and it stinks. I'm going to use the 6 weeks that my jobs gives me and whatever I have saved up for vacation time as well. Then there's a chance that I'm giving a day notice. I really loathe my job and there's nothing I want more than to tell them to kick rocks. My husband gets 2 weeks paid paternity leave and I think is using one of his roll over weeks of vaca to be around and extra week.

Blah. Dealing with nausea, bloat, fatigue and a head cold.

Rant. I'm so done with sickness. My family needs a break!
Rave. My H has to go into the office for a half day. First slow day he's had in weeks. He took my two oldest with him so I can have a little break. I still have my youngest with me but I hoping with the two bigs gone he will actually take a decent nap. I'm so tired.

GTKY. I am a sahm to three boys, my H works long crazy hours OOT, and up until now we don't have family nearby. I don't get much me time. My mom is moving here so I am hoping that'll change. Though of course it's been a little over 5yrs since I have had real help so it's going to be a big adjustment.

Alright, I'm moving to canada! 1 year maternity leave?? I wish! Is it all paid?

If you pay into employment insurance (ie not self employed)you are eligable for 55% of your wages for the entire year. Many companies will also top you up to a certain percentage of your wage, my company tops me up to 86% for 7 months and then 55% for the remaining 5 months. Our new prime minister is looking into extending maternity leave to 18 months!
Wow!! Now looking into other perks of canada.. the USA in my opinion is going downhill

How are you feeling?  Good right now since I'm just sitting in bed. Nausea is worst for me in the evening, so eating has been hard. There are like 4 things on planet earth I feel like I can stomach: chicken soup, oranges, cereal, and popsicles. So that has been my diet for the last few days and will be for the foreseeable future. But, I am so thankful that this pregnancy is so consistently symptomy, I feel like I might actually make it through 9 months with this nugget! None of my pregnancies that I lost had me feeling so nauseous and tired all the time.

Rants/raves or positive vibes: I'm just so excited that I actually had a good, normal ultrasound yesterday. In all the U/S I've ever had, I've never had the tech say that everything looks great and the doctor agree. There has always been something not quite right and I've always left either in tears or in limbo. So that was an awesome experience. Got to see my little nugget and the heartbeat!

GTKY: if you work do you plan to return to work as you did pre baby, how long will you take for mat leave?
SAHMommas: when do you find time for yourself?
I would love to stay at home, but DH is planning to start grad school next fall so I doubt that will be affordable for us, especially since we have both of our moms close and willing to watch baby for free. I feel like I will really struggle to go back to work, but oh well. I still need to look into the maternity leave policy at my school. I'll already have July off for summer break, so I may just take August as well and go back in September. We'll see.

How are you feeling? Today, extremely nauseous. Dry heaves. Exhausted.

Rants/raves or positive vibes: Had an awesome dinner at Nebo in downtown Boston last night our anniversary; threw it up when we got back to the hotel. So I was pissed.

GTKY: if you work do you plan to return to work as you did pre baby, how long will you take for mat leave? 3-4 months for maternity leave; then plan to return 3-4 days a week to my practice.

SAHMommas: when do you find time for yourself? N/A

How are you feeling? Good! My only symptoms lately has been exhaustion and bloat!

Rants/raves or positive vibes: We are going shopping today at a huge mall that I never get to go to :)

GTKY: if you work do you plan to return to work as you did pre baby, how long will you take for mat leave?
SAHMommas: when do you find time for yourself? I'm a SAHM/zumba instructor. Since I'm considered part time I don't get mat. Leave but I'm assuming I will probably stop teaching somewhere around 6/7 months as it will just be too uncomfortable. Than I'll prob return about 2/3 months after baby is born. I'm not completely sure on the logistics of how it will all work yet. Being a SAHM I get me time in by going to the gym! It sounds lame but I love being able to bring the kids to the gym drop them off at the daycare there and go work out for an hour or two. I always feel so much better afterwards!

    How are you feeling? Hungry!!!!!!!

Rants/raves or positive vibes: Finding out as early as we have makes it really hard to keep this secret! I have to make it through both Thanksgiving and Christmas without spilling the beans. We're telling parents at Christmas, but it's still hard!! Plus have to be extra careful what I say so my toddler doesn't catch on!

GTKY: if you work do you plan to return to work as you did pre baby, how long will you take for mat leave? N/a

SAHMommas: when do you find time for yourself? Really the only time I have is nap time if the hubs isn't home or after everyone goes to bed.

  • How far along are you? 6 weeks

How are you feeling? Sick, avoiding most food but really craving cold creamy desserts like mousse and panna cotta

Rants/raves or positive vibes: Saturdays go way too fast

GTKY: if you work do you plan to return to work as you did pre baby, how long will you take for mat leave?

We get 3 months full pay and then 9 further months reduced pay. I am intending on returning to work after 7 months maternity leave and will reduce my weekly hours from 37.5 to 32.5 per week.

  • How far along are you? 6 weeks 5 days

How are you feeling? I'm actually feel great today compared to yesterday. I was in such a terrible mood all day at work and I couldn't make it stop. All I wanted to do was go home, clients were driving me crazy, as were my coworkers. I even considered looking for another job, and I LOVE my job 99% of the time.

Rants/raves or positive vibes: Not many rants, but I am super excited for the 23rd to come so I can have my 8 week ultrasound. I am so so excited about this baby. It's my first, so I have been worried about MC a lot, but I'm trying to focus on just the positive and repeat daily that I have a happy healthy baby inside of me.

GTKY: if you work do you plan to return to work as you did pre baby, how long will you take for mat leave? Thankfully my husband has a good enough job that I will be able to stay home after the baby is born. I plan on being a SAHM until the kids go to school. And at that time, if I have the energy, we will see, I will go back to school too.
  • How far along are you? 6w5d

How are you feeling? Tired and bloated.

Rants/raves or positive vibes: I'm in my friend's wedding today! So far no ones questioned my lack of alcohol, so that's good. This will be my first night away from DD, I'm freaking out but reallllly looking forward to a solid night sleep.

GTKY: SAHMommas: when do you find time for yourself? I don't really get much time alone. But my mom is planning on taking DD once a week once she is done training at her new position, I don't even know what I'll do with a whole day alone.

  • How far along are you? 6 weeks today!

How are you feeling? Pretty good. I was pretty nauseous after dinner last night, some little spots today but not much.

Rants/raves or positive vibes: Please make my boobs stop growing. I didn't think I'd need a winter coat but I'm having trouble zipping mine up already.

GTKY: if you work do you plan to return to work as you did pre baby, how long will you take for mat leave?
I'll be on a job hunt when baby gets here. I graduate in May, will probably take the NCLEX in about June, have baby in July and apply for jobs in the meantime. I'd like to enjoy one last summer off with DH probably and then start working in September. That depends on how the job hunt goes though. DH is a teacher so he has summer off for sure, plus his parents should be able to watch LO most of the time, plus I'll probably end up working nights, so even if my "maternity leave" isn't as long as I'd like, we shouldn't have to worry too much about daycare and stuff like that. While I'd like to find full time work to facilitate buying a house, I can't say I'd be heartbroken to start out part time. I'll still be making way more money than I'm used to.

GTKY: I'm the breadwinner so I have no choice but to go back to work. I get 12 weeks maternity leave. 2 weeks vacation and sick paid at 100%, 2 weeks the company pays at 100%, 4 weeks disability paid at 60%, and 4 weeks new infant paid at 60%. It's not ideal but better than what a lot of people in the U.S. have to settle for. I really wish I could do something to petition for 12 weeks paid at 100% but I've already written a formal letter and signed some petitions for legislation but there's nothing else to do but hope for political change and keep voting I guess.
  • I think that's great! All 12 of my weeks are unpaid. We didn't get offered short term disability and my vacation time isn't good again until October. Thankfully I am not the sole breadwinner because I'd be real Sol if I was .

How are you feeling? I just peed myself while puking. So.

Rants/raves or positive vibes: My first ultrasound was reassuring. I think the anti-nausea meds are helping, but gosh, I'm still miserable. I can't believe this is going to continue for another 12 weeks. It seems worse than my past pregnancies. :(

GTKY: SAHMommas: when do you find time for yourself? I'm pretty tied to my babies for the first six months or so, and totally okay with that. But I exercise, go on date nights, make time for phone calls with friends. I usually start working part time around a year postpartum, also.

How are you feeling? Most days actually pretty good. I can tell if I overdo it exercising, because then I crash and burn right after dinner! Only the mildest of nausea, so feeling VERY lucky.

Rants/raves or positive vibes: Finally going to move into our new place this week, after staying with relatives for 7 months due to awkward moving situations. Very excited to not have to hide the pregnancy as much at home.

GTKY: if you work do you plan to return to work as you did pre baby, how long will you take for mat leave?
SAHMommas: when do you find time for yourself? Well, hoping that DH gets a real job in the next few months. I make $9/hr as a contract worker (read: no benefits, no PTO, etc) so I pretty much figure that when I get too uncomfortable to work (there's a not insignificant amount of standing) I'll just quit, because if I leave for even six weeks, I'll likely not have a job, and even if I do, $9/hr won't pay for childcare. So unless he doesn't have a job, I won't be there, or I'll be working out something to bring the LO to work with me (give them THAT ultimatum, lol). Worse comes to worse, I'll go back to bartending a couple of evenings a week, once LO is maybe 3 months old. It's better money for less hours and I can do it at night!

How are you feeling? Besides dizziness that comes and goes, I feel great. I'm eating and sleeping more but all and all I feel wonderful. One thing that concerns me is that despite eating like a crazy person, I'm losing weight. In the two weeks since I found out I'm pregnant, I've lost 3 lbs. I've heard it's normal but that was from people who were sick and throwing up. I'm going to see the dr next Friday and I'll ask then. Until then, I'll just eat another 10 meals I guess.

Mat. leave- I get three months paid. I'm lucky. Both my spouse and I work from home and have extremely flexible hours. I travel 2-3x a month but have control over the when and where. My parents also live next door so my baby will be close and i get go drop him or her off when needed. I might do a nanny share as well just to give myself, my husband and parents a break.

How are you feeling? Incredibly tired. Went to EPCOT on Friday for 6 hours, walked about 7 miles and I still am recovering. Figured out the only thing I get over emotional about is when I think about my dad. Boobs are super sore, H can't go near them.

Rants/raves or positive vibes: I don't wanna be at work. I feel nauseous and my CM makes me think I'm spotting.

GTKY: if you work do you plan to return to work as you did pre baby, how long will you take for mat leave?
I'll take as long of a mat leave I can get, which looks to be about 12-14 weeks (its 100% paid). Depending on the financials I may or not be able to be a sahm. MIL lives in the same community so that will be very helpful.

How are you feeling? Bloated, gassy, slightly nauseous and exhausted...and excited!

Rants/raves or positive vibes: I've never been this symptomatic so early in my past two pregnancies. I really never noticed anything until almost a week after I missed my period...but this one I have been feeling since shortly after conception.

GTKY: if you work do you plan to return to work as you did pre baby, how long will you take for mat leave?
I'm in the USAF, so I will be back to work after my maternity leave. I get 6 weeks off, but I'll probably take some extra leave.
SAHMommas: when do you find time for yourself?

How are you feeling? Perfectly normal - no symptoms - sometimes, I forget I'm even pregnant!

Rants/Raves or positive vibes: On my way to the in-law's - wish I could've been home lounging instead!

GTKY: if you work, do you plan to return to work as you did pre-baby? How long will you take for maternity leave? My workplace just came out with a new and improved maternity leave policy effective in 2016 - 16 weeks fully paid! Of course, that includes 1 week of my own vacation time (so really only 15 weeks 100% paid) but I am extremely excited about the new policy change. I fully intend to use the entire 16 weeks as well as possibly using up my remaining vacation days so all in all, if I can help it, I'll be out for a total of 20 weeks, max. With my first born, I had to go back to work after only 11 weeks. I really felt it was nowhere near enough but my situation at the time forced me to go back sooner than planned.
