Newborn Head Cold

Did anyone else have their newborn get a cold yet? Our 3 week old started getting one last night and it is tough. She is not sleeping at all cause she can't breathe through her nose. I am trying everything my Dr. told me to just so heartbroken. Any advice? We have a humidifier, her head elevated when attempting to sleep, saline drops and nasal aspirator. Will take any help!

    Going through the same thing over here! We are doing everything you are and it sounds terrible when she's trying to get the mucous up..I'll be following this thread to see if anyone has any other advice! Hang in there!

    I have read that putting a drop of breast milk in each nostril can help.

    Going through the same thing. It's been over a week. She is finally starting to sound a little better. The saline has helped tons. We've been keeping her upright, trying to feed as often as possible, using the nose Frida and steaming her in the shower. It's the saddest thing to watch. I feel so bad for her.

    Thank you guys! It is breaking my heart to listen to her! We sounded better today! Just been keeping up with saline drops and sucking nose out and head propped while sleeping! We let her sleep most of the day yesterday other than waking to feed and that seems to have helped. Just heads up take care of yourselves today. Both myself and husband started feeling a cold comin on today and started drinking lots of orange juice. Still following for any more advice. I heard the breast milk thing but wasn't 100% comfortable with it! Good luck to my fellow moms going through babies first cold! It's harder on us then them I have been told! May try steaming in the shower if it doesn't continue getting better.

    My husband and I were stuffy for a while too. Definitely try steaming in the shower. My baby loves it. The sound of the shower is kind of like white noise and the steam really helps her. I put her bouncer in the bathroom and shower to kill two birds with one stone. We also bought a humidifier for the whole house. Not sure where you live but we are in the high desert so it's very dry.
