@DobbysSock Hang in there. You're not a failure- you're making it to the gym and consciously doing your best to make good choices. You're doing a great job! Keep up the good work and let yourself feel the win on the small victories!

I've got sort of a confession. I used to be vegan for a few years in college (before real life hit and I decided it was too hard, plus it goes against crossfit tradition, plus DH loves steak). Now I have all these aversions- meat and seafood are THE WORST, eggs gross me out, dairy isn't my favorite anymore. I think I might try to secretly eat vegan again during pregnancy. Carbs and pickled things and bean burritos are the only things on my short list right now. Fruit and veg are okay except for grapefruit. I know it's not exactly ideal timing but I'm kind of a symptom spotting weirdo and I wonder if my body is trying to send me a message. DH would not be happy to hear this so I might just call it aversions/ "ew I'll barf" and eat vegan under that ruse. Also confessing I purchased "The Everything Vegan Pregnancy Book" in ebook format this morning so I could read it secretly at work and consider how to do this healthfully.

ETA: Stuff yo self was totally my idea but the gifs are making me nauseated too. Hadn't considered this. Whoops!

  • @noelietrex I'm confused... if that's how you're really feeling then go for it... you can always make a separate meal with meat for hubby. I wish I could go vegan but I love all the meats.
  • @PinkLady2015 It is how I feel, but if he thinks I might be trying to eat vegan instead of just thinking beef smells yucky at the moment he'll freak out. He knew me when I was vegan/ vegetarian before and thought it was a pain in the ass (kinda true). Skipping a steak isn't the issue, it's asking if the salad dressing contains anchovy paste or asking if that sauce contains butter and checking the label of every single thing at the store and refusing to buy products containing casein or whey or white sugar that might have used cattle bone char in its processing... It gets complicated and picky fast.

  • I've got another to add.

My NP is a dimwit. I went in for my appointment, spent 10 minutes with the super nice PA who then left to go see if the lab people were ready for me to POAS. NP comes in, introduces herself as though I'm a new patient and then we spend 10 minutes going over everything the PA and I already went over, again. And then she grills me about why I went off BC - well, my prescription expired a few months ago, I was due for a pap, life got busy, DH and I talked about it and were both OK with me going off it. She totally made some flip comment about 'well, now you're going to be even MORE busy.' with a nice condescending tone. Uhh, OK. Thanks. So glad I won't ever have to see you again! At least she decided it wasn't necessary for me to POAS and said we could do a blood draw for HCG instead. She didn't even congratulate me.

@stephweinstein Because it copied the wrong one. :( What about now?

ETA by "it" I mean "I", but I'll play the blame game today.

Much more understandable.  I spent a good thirty seconds trying to figure out what Homer barfing could  mean.  Glad you agree ;)

  • @noelietrex It sounds like a major commitment! My cousin lives with us and went gluten-free and now he's vegan as well. (He watched a bunch of the documentaries about how humans shouldn't eat meat, etc and it really resonated with him). I have to give him a ton of credit but he cheats a bit (uses soy sauce and drinks whiskey so go figure).
  • @ButterMyBiscuit That's the worst. What if someone pops by????
  • @LinzerBinzer, I closed my office door and pretty much everyone has gone home by now. Thankfully!

  • Ughhh my sister is in town and took us out to dinner, she asked if we wanted to hang out and watch a movie after and maybe get some beer. DH was like let's get some wine! I looked at him like seriously dude!!!! I want to smack him! I'm a wino typically and he literally just said that and she was like yeah!! Ughh now what am I going to say. I'm not announcing until christmas.

I just sat on my butt for an hour while my boss did my job. I'm sick, on top of morning sickness. I'm not sorry
Eta: pee sticks as your profile picture are as bad as posting them in a thread.
  • Well flame away then, I am a full time mom, fully responsible for the behaviour and raising/teaching my child everything until they head to school and even then I am still responsible and overly involved as I am a teacher myself. I am not saying working moms don't have it hard, there are pros and cons to both. But when a kid comes home from daycare swearing (1st you would be pissed) but as least you have someone else to blame lol. I think both working moms and Stay at home (worse description as we are never home) moms work HARD! I cannot imagine how tough it is to leave your child and worry about them all day and do your job. I feel very fortunate to have had the choice to not go back to work but boy the high energy a baby/ toddler needs is also taxing. I honestly think the SAHM vs "working mom" (also don't like that term as it assumes that SAHM's don't do anything... They just don't get paid!) comparison is stupid no one wins and everyone gets upset...
Ya I know y'all wanted a novel on how I feel! Haha
  • My confession is pretty lame and I don't even know if it counts but I wish I had morning sickness. I'm exactly 5 weeks today and haven't experienced any symptoms besides being sleepy all the time. Of course I googled this and Web MD said this could be low hcg and I could miscarry. Now I'm all freaked out. :(
  • @DarkCat 5 weeks is early. Mine was minor until 6 weeks to the day! I think it was even later with my last LO

I know I should be happy I'm feeling well but this is my first. Hard not to worry. Lol and yes Dr. Google sucks.
  • Even worse than Dr. Google is reading any thread in pregnancy forums about any sort of loss. I am just driving myself crazy!

Ugh I'm sorry. I hate when you have to repeat the same thing 10 times to 10 people. Read the damn chart!

  • I've been obsessing over these baby products for 2016 and I want ALL THE THINGS! I know with your second baby, you don't really need an actual full-on baby shower but this shit makes me want one.

@ButterMyBuiscuit you've ruined me lol. My husband said he's going to block that site hahahahah
  • I also pee in the shower .... no shame haha
  • My husband ate too much Chipotle last night and was up puking at 2am (he has an ulcer-like syndrome that is triggered by acid/spice, but he feels fine now!). I used it as my excuse to call out of work today. And so did he.

Parks & Rec, pajamas, and (cooked) sushi together on the couch all day? Yep.

Also, this is no confession, but I love that the 3 posters before me also have profile pictures of their fur babies. Win.
