Torn between three girl names

Hi all!  My husband and I are having a ton of trouble deciding between three names we like:  Tess, Rose or Emmeline.  Tess has been our frontrunner this whole time (I'm just about 29 weeks) and is the most sentimental to us, but recently I've just been having second thoughts and we've decided on Rose and Emmeline as back up options we both agree on.  I feel like we'll know when we see her, but in the meantime, any thoughts?

Thank you!  :)

  • My vote goes to Rose. I love Rose as a first name.

  • Do you like Tessa, nickname Tess? If so that's my favorite of your list.
    I like Emmeline as well

  • I like Tess and Rose. We are going in with 2 names and deciding when we meet our little one. You may see her and say, "nope, you are definitely not a Tess!"
  • I don't like Emmeline at all, mostly because I never know how to pronounce it. I like Tess slightly more than Rose just because Rose makes me think of an old lady (great Aunt was named this).
  • Stick with Tess, it's beautiful and uncommon and I would totally use it if DH liked it. :) Emmeline can't hold a candle to it and while Rose is pretty, it's just not as memorable.
    It's a boy! Born 42 weeks, 2 days.

  • I love Rose as a first name! My name is Rebecca and I was named after my great grandma Rose. I always said I would have loved if they had just named me Rose. I think it's such a beautiful name!
  • I vote Emmeline. I am partial to it, my LO is Emeline. They are all nice but Tess sounds incomplete and Rose is NMS. What about Emmeline Rose?
  • Rose then Tess
  • If you had Tessa instead of Tess, Tessa would get my vote.

But since you have Tess, and not Tessa, I like them in this order:

    Emmeline
    Tess
    Rose

  • I love Rose as a first name. Then Tess. Emmeline isn't terrible but I've been seeing it a lot lately.

  • I like Tess best, but like Tessa much better. Rose would be my 2nd choice. Very pretty and uncommon. It would make a great mn, too. Love Tessa Rose so much!!

Thanks SO much for the feedback, guys!  Tessa is out because my husband hates it for some reason (yet loves Tess!)  I think based on the feedback (and talking with my husband last night) we've narrowed it down to Tess and Rose and we'll make the final call once we actually meet our little girl.  I really like both, but to me they have distinctly different personalities/feels to them.  Tess seems more feisty and independent and Rose seems more classically feminine and sweet.

I think we'll know when we see her.  :)  (I hope!  Haha.)

    Anyway, thanks again!

I like your thought "we'll know when we see her." With DD, we were team green went to the hospital with 2 boy names and w girl names. After the birth, our top choice for a girl was not picked....it did not feel right not did it for her at all. We went with our second choice which felt perfect for her. It does fit her personality very well. I am glad we did not name her our first choice.
That was us too. We were Team Green and walked in with 19 names still! I was hoping that I would get to use my #1 pick if it was a girl. It ended up being a girl, but I knew what her name was 10 minutes after she was born, I ended up naming her, and she didn't get either name from my list. First name was on my husbands list, and middle name was a name I veto'ed at 14 weeks pregnant.

  • I like Tess, even though I like Tessa nn Tess better. I love the name Rose it's one of my favorites. Emmeline is a name that I think you will end up with a lot of people misspelling and/or mispronouncing it.
  • Another vote for rose

Agree about Emmeline! I think it's because I know a lady named Emmeline and reeeeeeaaaallly didn't like her
