I want to cut my daughter's hair so bad and I feel so guilty! She has long gorgeous big curls the go all the way down to the middle of her back. But she's two and keeping it from getting tangled is near impossible. Brushing it is a special kind of torture for both of us. I condition it for every bath and I spray it with detangling spray every time I brush it. I try so hard to make the process painless and try to keep it in a nic braid. But she's two and doesn't understand why her mommy keeps pulling her hair. It's terrible. I just want to give her a cute little bob and call it good.

I just hate to cut those beautiful curls. Plus any time I mention it to anyone they freak out like I'm thinking of removing one of her limbs. I didn't realize cutting your toddler daughter's hair was so taboo!
My confession is I hate cooking and I wish we had one of those things from Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy that you stick your head in, it reads what you are craving, and then it instantly appears. I am learning to cook and I am starting to get better at it, but once I cook something I really don't want to eat it. I wouldn't mind making my husband something and then just going to Chick Fil A for myself
I am 27, DH is 26. We have been married since September 28, 2013. We had our first child, Zoey, February 7, 2016.
@kiek I totally feel you! My 2 and half year old boy has beautiful hair. My MIL actually asked me one time if I highlighted his hair and curled it (WTF?). It's down past his shoulders and I just cannot get myself to bring him in for a haircut even though EVERYONE keeps asking when he is going to finally get a hair cut. He does get mistaken for a girl a lot (especially when he wears his mint or coral colored pants!) But I love his hair, and can't really imagine him with a traditional boy haircut.
But it is a hassle at times. Our bath routine has to involve a hair dryer so that he doesn't go to bed with wet hair, it does get tangled which isn't fun to comb out. But he tells me he likes his long hair. So I keep fighting off my in laws' request to give him a proper boy haircut....
Thought of another hair confession... I'm having a daughter and I think what terrifies me more than anything is not being able to show my daughter how to do all the girly things. My mom didn't know how to braid, so I never learned. I don't think I learned how to put my hair into a pony tail by myself until I was probably in middle school and I never learned how to curl my own hair. I guess I just want her to be exposed to these things and I'm pretty sure I'm not going to be able to teach her!

I'm at the OB, just took the orange sugary drink for my GD test. I thought it was delicious. Tasted like an unfrozen otter pop.
I had the fruit punch flavor. Reminded me of those drinks you'd have as a kid where they had the tin foil lid tops. I always loved them because my mom never bought them, so I only got them at like birthday parties or something.

@monkeybutt80 I couldn't cut that hair either! Omg! My daughter's hair is downright unmanageable at this point. Even with my best efforts to tame it she looks wild lol. DH started calling her (very lovingly I might add) raggedy Ann and the ferril child. So that's not great lol
@egraves4 I have super straight hair. It doesn't curl unless I go to a salon to have it done and even then it doesn't hold. My normal hair routine is wash it, brush it, done. So I don't have a clue what to do with her curly hair. I'm constantly asking my sister for advice lol. She going to look back at her toddler picture like the eff, mom lol.

Hugz!
I just wanted to say that you guys are making me feel soooo much better. When I was 6 I had to do a test for hypoglycemia and I remember that I kept throwing up because the drink was so gross and thick. I have been DREADING the glucose test- not because I'm worried about the result but soley because of having to drink that stuff.
People keep telling me it's not like that anymore, but reading these has finally changed my mind and I feel a lot less nervous. Plus... even if I do throw up it won't be the first, twentieth or even fiftieth time I've thrown up in the past 6 months...
@mcklough the hardest part for me was to just drink the thing down really fast because it was so cold! I had like 5 minutes to drink it and I've never been a good chugger..I had to keep stopping to cough.

I taught myself by watching YouTube...
I've tried, believe me. My hands don't do the things they need to do in order to curl/braid/anything other than a ponytail.

@mcklough I would've had seconds if they'd offered. It's pretty sweet, but then I like sweet so it wasn't a problem. Everyone has a different threshold for these types of things, but I bet you'll be fine!
I have curly hair and a curly haired 2 year old. I wish it was as long as your girls @Kiek . Hers keeps getting thicker and curlier so it looks the same length(earlobe). Also I'll tell you what works for my lo to see if it helps you. 1) I use my shampoo and condition because baby/toddler ones dry it out. I use Orgnx. The Eucalyptus Mint shampoo and the Coconut Curls conditioner. I think it's the conditioner that helps the most. I have to comb and spray with detangler immediately. If it's in the morning I also use Aussie Sprunch spray(I use this too) to keep her curls nice all day. After nap or in the morning I usually spray with water, then detangler, then the Sprunch spray if we're going somewhere

This was a fear of mine too. I think I lack the traditional girl gene because I can't do hair or makeup to save my life. My only saving grace with the possibility of a girl (we're having a boy) was that if she ever wanted braided hair, at least my husband is good at it. He did art in high school and was an art major for a semester so that's where he was able to hone that skill.

Use a wide tooth comb on curly hair, try combing it out in the bath with the conditioner in it before you rise. A comb is a lot less painful than a brush and helps reduce frizz as it dries. I also have good luck with a leave in conditioner called "Mixed Chix" you can buy it at target for cheep money it comes in a rectangular bottle and is a light yellow color. You only need a very little bit and scrunch it into her hair. I use this on my hair and introduced my SIL to is and now she uses it on my niece daily, it helps create soft frizz free curls!
@kiek I may be in the same boat as you! My hair is wavy, but my SO has brunette ringlets so I can only assume that she will also have curly hair since it's a dominant gene. I'm really hoping that it ends up like his!

I also didn't mind the orange drink, it reminded me of Hi-C or Sunny D, whatever that orange drink is at McD's. I took mine cold because I figured it'd be easier to hide the flavor!

My daughter has her daddy's hair. Both of us have really thick hair so it was just a matter of whether or not she'd have thick curly hair or thick straight hair lol.
@egraves4 don't worry. They'll pick it up somewhere. My mom never taught me anything girly at all, and I still don't know how to do anything. I can only do like 5 things to my daughters hair and she has a ton of it.
@Kiek I also feel like i should cut my daughters hair, but it's really pretty hair, and she's 4 so she tells me she loves it long. I just have to come up with more ways for her to wear it. typically i just braid it so that it stays out of her face. Kids and their hair.
My confession: I made chili last night. Instead of corn bread to go with, I made a garlic parmesan polenta because it was easier and something I could actually eat (fit my carbs limit for GD), but also because I knew H would hate it and I'd get the rest. I also snuck in kale to the chili and H had no idea..

I added taco seasoned ground turkey, half bunch of kale the last 15 minutes. I also opted to not use the seasonings listed since I had seasoned turkey meat, and added a packet of McCormick chili seasoning (it was a suggestion in one of the comments because apparently without it, the chili tasted more like spaghetti sauce?) Anywhoo, it was delicious!

I had the orange today and didn't mind it. The lab tech asked if I have a sweet tooth so that may be why I didn't mind it. Funny part is that I took my blood sugar when I got back to work and had drank the Glucola and ate half a banana and my blood sugar was 108. Normal fasting is 100.
It must be glucose test day! I had mine this morning as well. I have the biggest sweet tooth of anyone I know and I still have to choke that drink down! I hate it. I'm not a fan of soda, maybe that's part of it?
My shower is tomorrow and I creeped on my registries to see what's been purchased.
I randomly check mine (mostly to buy something off of it) and have seen a few things purchased not by me, but I think I set mine up to not let me know who purchased it..Guess I'll be surprised next month at my shower!
My daughter is what is keeping me at a job I hate with a passion. I cry when I go to work. I get yelled at daily (I work in a retail pharmacy) feels like management doesn't appreciate us, we are over worked. I refuse to let her go without because at 31 I can't handle a job.
But it's really started to tear me down. I've mentally checked out.
My confession: I have to talk myself out of quiting every time I go in. After almost 16 years with this company. I want to walk in, tell them to shove it and leave. But I just can't.
I feel you @MaybeMab. I can't imagine being pregnant/having a family at the super busy pharmacy chain I worked at for the last 10 years. I recently switched to a different environment and it's made a world of difference, even after a pretty decent pay cut! Maybe you can check out some other options after baby is here!
