Re: THURSDAY SYMPTOMS

  • How far along are you? 9w5d according to LMP

How are you feeling? I have officially caught the cold that H has been dealing with. This is the worst I've felt so far in the first trimester. I didn't think it was possible to be more exhausted than I already am, but I've proven that wrong. A sore throat and runny nose on top of being tired, diarrhea, sore boobs and bloated = No Bueno. And apparently some mild nausea decided to show up this morning. Woop-de-doo.

    Rants/Raves? Almost the weekend!

GTKY: Do you prefer city life, country life, or somewhere in between? We are definitely more inclined to country life. Both H and I work in the city, and could never live there. For a night out on the town, yes. I like being within 30-60 minutes of a major city so we're not too far away, but I enjoy living in the country.

  • ***QUESTION: How many of you are reading books on pregnancy/babies? I haven't read any yet and sort of feel like a slacker. If you have read anything- what's good/what's bad?

How far along are you? 8w5d

How are you feeling? Better today- made sure I ate first thing and am waiting to take my vitamins until tonight. I also switched to iced tea instead of coffee today (passion tango from Starbucks- I swear the bitterness helps with MS)

Rants/Raves? I'm not gonna rant today, I made it to work without puking... Plus it's almost the weekend!!

GTKY: Do you prefer city life, country life, or somewhere in between? I'm a suburbs kind of girl- love being close enough to the city for an occasional night out, but being able to drive to the supermarket and almost never have to take a subway makes me happy!!

@mrsschmity sorry you're so miserable today! Tea, sucking candy and bland food has helped me with MS. Creepy internet hugs to you!

  • Thanks @laurenm2123! I have a meeting with a job recruiter later this morning at Starbucks, so I'm going to treat myself to some hot cocoa or chai tea. I'll have to give the candy a try.

To answer your question - I'm not going overboard with the books. My mom sent me two - one about nutrition during pregnancy and one that just covers everything you could ever want to know about pregnancy and birth. Both very good. The second one is written by Mayo Clinic and each section goes week by week of your pregnancy. I like to glance at each week that I'm on to see how baby is developing and what to expect. Other than that, I don't plan on buying any other books. I feel like it can be very easy to get "information overload" and cause more anxiety than necessary.
  • @mrsschmity I'm sorry you feel terrible! Do you have to go to work? :(

@laurenm2123 I haven't read any baby books this time around. I definitely don't think you're a slacker. I don't know that I read any baby books until after DS was born and we did just fine. :) I think Happiest Baby on the Block is a great read for help with newborns. I read Baby Wise-super controversial-just to know what it was all about, and it was crap. I think What to Expect the First Year was good (I think that's what it's called ). I also read a bunch on BFing (and BFing after a breast reduction). Can't think of anything specific but I'm so glad I read up on that.

How far along are you? 8w2d I think.

How are you feeling? Super nauseous, tired, and bitchy. I'm a joy to be around.

Rants/raves: DS had donuts with dads this morning so his dad took him to school. I am enjoying a few blissful moments on the couch before work.

GTKY : I'm a suburbs girl through and through. I've lived in the country and I can't deal with being isolated. Living in the city is too loud and busy. Burbs are a good balance. Our town now is the first suburb out of the city, which is nice for work and entertainment.

  • How far along are you? 9w today according to my LMP

How are you feeling? Tired, easily annoyed, & slightly crampy. I get irritated by others quickly & it totally sucks bc I'm a middle school teacher! I was the cool, young teacher with patience for their antics and now, I'm a short-fused grouch & my students don't know why... looking forward to telling them in a few weeks so they can understand.

Rants/Raves? It's too damn hot in Miami, FL! I want Fall!

GTKY: Do you prefer city life, country life, or somewhere in between? City life with a country music soundtrack!
  • @cjt121413 When I woke up this morning H told me I should work from home considering I feel like shit and slept like shit lol I wish I could stay home today but I just have too many important meetings I have to be in. Two of those are for potential jobs though, so I kind of want to be here. I may try and sneak out of the office early though ;)

Sorry you're feeling crappy too! Hopefully the extra time to yourself this morning will help a bit.
  • @mrsschmity  -That's absolutely no fun.  I hope that you feel better quickly!

@laurenm2123 - My SIL bought me What to Expect When You're Expecting.  I think it's good and informative and I just skip the sections that don't apply to me and read the monthly chapters when I get to that point.  I don't really plan on reading anything else because I think there is a point where it becomes too much and you stop remembering stuff.

How far along are you? 7w5d

How are you feeling? The nausea is more mild today, but it seems to get worse at night anyway.  Tired, bloated, crampy, ragey, and covered in acne.  It's pleasant...

Rants/raves: I'm starting to get super irritated with people very quickly and I have my performance review today.  I don't like my boss, so I'm hoping that I can contain the Hulk until after it's over and just vent to DH later today.  Thankfully, it's almost the weekend and our Friendsgiving cookout on Saturday is looking like minimal work for me!

GTKY : Do you prefer city life, country life, or somewhere in between?  Suburbs!  DH's family lives in the country and while I would love to have a bigger yard like they do, I don't think I could handle being home alone in the middle of nowhere.  I'm paranoid.  But I don't like people enough to live on top of each other in a city.

  • @lauren2123 I started reading The Girlfriends Guide to Pregnancy. I've been reading it slowly, but have enjoyed it so far. It's a funny & honest approach to everything, which I like.

    How are you feeling?
Not great. I'm really stuffed up, nauseas, & have the worst heartburn. Plus I'm on day 4 of a horrible headache. I'm ready for the weekend so I can rest!

    Rants/Raves?
Today is DH's birthday, so I'm going to make him a nice dinner (& hopefully be able to eat it, as well). And it's Thursday, which means it's a great TV night & one step closer to the weekend!

GTKY: Do you prefer city life, country life, or somewhere in between?
Somewhere in between! I love being close enough to the city for convenience without actually having to live there.

How far along are you?  9/5

How are you feeling? Ok, still tired.

Rants/Raves? I'm tired of the duplicate threads.  I guess I have to get used to it.  :)

GTKY: Do you prefer city life, country life, or somewhere in between?  We are currently in the burbs.  But I grew up in the country (town just got it's first stop light a year or so ago).  We plan on move out of the city more in the next 5 years.  With both of us working in the city, it just makes sense right now.
  • Hugs to all y'all feeling sick!

Hope you recover from your cold soon, @mrsschmity. And wishing you the very best of luck at your meetings today!

@laurenm2123: I'm reading the Mayo Clinic's pregnancy guide, ACOG's pregnancy guide, and The Girlfriend's Guide to Pregnancy. The first 2 are good for the physiology and science, while the second is light-hearted and entertaining.

How far along are you? 7 weeks!!

How are you feeling? Generally good. Very tired.

    Rants/Raves?
Rave: Ultrasound this morning!!! DH is coming with me, so we're excited to see the heartbeat.

Rant (ish?): I'm a bit nervous about the u/s today. I'm praying that all is well. Preface: I know women can be all over the symptoms spectrum and have a perfectly healthy pregnancy, and that symptoms come and go without signifying any worrisome issues. That being said, my bloat is gone, nips are much less sore, I'm tired (but who isn't ever), cramping is gone, and I have little waves of nausea though nothing really remarkable. So, I'm waffling between worry that all this means something has gone wrong, and gratefulness that things are generally smooth-sailing. C'mon rational self, get a grip and take over.

GTKY: Do you prefer city life, country life, or somewhere in between? Though there are pros to both city and country living, I gotta say I love the in-between. Best of both worlds to me, with space to breathe.
  • @KOR121 I am also tired of the duplicate threads, but I've started to just ignore them. Argghh.

@crdo Thank you!! I am also reading the Mayo Clinic's Pregnancy Guide...I like it so far and pick it up occasionally to read whichever week I'm on. Good luck at your ultrasound this morning!! So exciting. Can't wait to hear how it goes. Keep us updated :)

  • How far along are you? 10w5days

How are you feeling? I am feeling way better than I have in earlier weeks, but still really wiped out when I get home from work. I feel like I am starving to death all day long, and as soon as dinner is done I can't eat a bite. This has DH worried that I'm starving myself all day.

Rants/Raves? Super excited to be getting out of town for a little while this weekend!

GTKY: Do you prefer city life, country life, or somewhere in between? We are country people. DH seriously loses his cool if he has to sit through a stoplight twice, we would never make it in a city.

  • How far along are you? 10w 6d ( I finally had my dating u/s!) How are you feeling? Okay, this is the sickest I have been in any of my pregnancies. Rants/Raves? I HAD COFFEE THIS MORNING (no flames, miss just a half of cup). This is the first time since becoming pregnant. It actually tasted good. I now feel fully equipped to deal with my children who turned their room into a spider web with a role of tulle. I probably could have used it yesterday when my cat got stuck in the washer. GTKY: Do you prefer city life, country life, or somewhere in between? Country. We're buying a small farm in the spring and plan to homestead and be off the grid. :)

  • How far along are you? 8 weeks 4 days

How are you feeling? Extremely tired and crabby and unmotivated..

Rants/Raves? Nothing much, I need to clean the house and grocery shop but just physically cannot. It's driving me nuts. I have the same bedtime as my 2 year old.

GTKY: Do you prefer city life, country life, or somewhere in between?

I live in a decent sized city (68,000 people) but on the outskirts. I like it better than being right in the city.

  • How far along are you?
    10w5d

    How are you feeling?
Meh today, I'm ok now in the am but once afternoon rolls around its game over

    Rants/Raves?
Nothing really today, just gotta get the house ready for company

GTKY: Do you prefer city life, country life, or somewhere in between?
Suburb life is what I like, like no more than 10 min to the store but there aren't any big buildings or high traffic areas.
  • How far along are you? 9 weeks today

How are you feeling? Tired, BLOATED, congested, nausea finally eased up (yay), excessive saliva can leave now PLEASE

Rants/Raves? Miss all of my evening shows.....sleep by 8p. It as if I was drugged...eyes cannot stay open. I have tried walking around the living room just to watch tv, and it just makes me grouchy.....SLEEP WINS!

GTKY: Do you prefer city life, country life, or somewhere in between? I am a country girl!! i love my horses and wide open spaces. Deep in the South..Southern Belle.....I love to visit the city for romantic getaways, but other than that country is my home.
  • @mrsschmity I hope you feel better soon!
@laurenm1283 I agree with @cjt121413 on the Happiest Baby on the Block book! Loved that. I'm also reading WTE, but I skip around.
@crdo & @cjt121413 good luck with your ultrasounds!

    How are you feeling? Normal

Rants/Raves? Got a call yesterday from the nurse asking to move up my ultrasound to today! Everything looks good, HR 174, measuring right where I thought I'd be. Yay!

GTKY: Do you prefer city life, country life, or somewhere in between? Suburbs, for sure! . We have an acre lot, which is a nice amount of space between neighbors. I like being 30-45 minutes from bright lights, big city Atlanta.

How are you feeling? super tired. Had one wave of nausea this morning but otherwise that seems to be fading. I do feel greasy and unattractive

Rants/Raves? I sent my parents a present (a happy thanksgiving binder with all the things they have to be thankful for this year. the last page is a onesie that says You're going to be grandparents June 2016. I wanted to wait until thanksgiving but I got impatient). It is supposed to get there today and I can't wait to hear their response.

GTKY: Do you prefer city life, country life, or somewhere in between? I love both, but I prefer to live in the country/small town. DH and I have a few acres that back up to the pasture of a horse boarding facility so there's always horses to watch out my kitchen window and I love having mountain views. We're about 45 minutes from downtown Denver so at least if I want a high end date night, its not out of the question :-)
  • How far along are you?

    How are you feeling?
Worse than yesterday which oddly, makes me quite calm. I was barely naseous at all yesterday and my mind jumped to the worst.

    Rants/Raves?
We found out yesterday that our furnace has a hole in the heat exchanger which, if it gets any bigger, could mean a CO leak into our house. It's under warranty but we have to wait for them to get the part in so we aren't running the heat at all while we're gone during the day and sparingly in the evening just to keep the house not freezing. A cold front comes through today and temperatures are supposed to dip into the 30s at night. Gonna be fun!

GTKY: Do you prefer city life, country life, or somewhere in between?
I grew up in the country and it has its benefits, namely amazing cheap fresh produce. Forget weekly farmers markets, we had a year round farmers market in a stand alone building a 5 minute bike ride away. I LOVE corn on the cob and refuse to buy any from grocery stores, it just doesn't taste the same as fresh jersey corn, so I only get it when I go home. That being said, I can't stand that it takes 30 minutes in the car to get anywhere. I'm in the burbs now (after living in the city for 2 years) and I think it really is the happy medium between it all.
  • How far along are you? 10w4d

How are you feeling?  Pretty good.  Just constipation much.

Rants/Raves? I switched OBGYNs and had my first appointment with the new one today. I got to have another u/s and I saw our little baby MOVE! It was so cool!!!  164 HB today :)

GTKY: Do you prefer city life, country life, or somewhere in between?  I prefer a country/rural hybrid.  Not too far from stores, but I like enough yard (2-3 acres) that I don't hear my neighbors talking if they're out front of their house.

  • @laurenm2123 I have what to expect when you're expecting but it seems like all of the information I've been reading online. I'm looking for something more about what they don't tell you about pregnancy and what to expect.

****QUESTION how do you ladies feel about used items? and what is some must have items for you and baby? and did any of you exclusively pump or plan to exclusively pump? (sorry lots of questions)

How far along are you? 7+5 by lmp

How are you feeling? I think I ate too much at breakfast and I'm nauseous. And the rain has me wanting to go home and curl up in bed.

Rants/Raves? I'm anxious about my first appointment on the 17th. I'm anxious to start preparing and buying things. I know I have a lot of time left but it's always on my mind. I'm pretty sure I'm going to be exclusively pumping because I'll have to return to work. I'm anxious about leaving my baby in the care of someone else, although it will likely be family as my step mom doesn't work and I know that she would be overjoyed to play nanny during the week. But we aren't telling anyone until Christmas so I can't even run it by her. And I know how ridiculous all of this probably sounds because I'm 7+5 weeks but I can't help but be ridiculous.

GTKY: Do you prefer city life, country life, or somewhere in between? Somewhere in between. I don't like living in towns where everything is not a minutes drive. But I also need yard and grass and trees and quiet so I don't like all the concrete and noise that comes with big cities.
  • Sending hugs to everyone who doesn't feel well!

@laurenm2123: I'm currently not reading anything yet. Kind of scared to get any books right now. Maybe after my second ultrasound I will break down and buy one or two books. Maybe the Girlfriend's Guide to Pregnancy will be one since everyone says its light and entertaining, not sure on the other.

How far along are you? 7 weeks 7 days

How are you feeling? A little better today. I have had a cold since Sunday, that started off as a sore throat, then moved to sneezing and running nose. Also a little exhausted, tired and some mild nausea, but no appetite.

    Rants/Raves?
Rave: Happy its almost the weekend!

GTKY: Do you prefer city life, country life, or somewhere in between? I like the city life, but would prefer to be somewhere in between, not far from the city. Right now we live about 30-35 (without traffic) minutes south of Atlanta and even though its a nice area, I would prefer to be north of Atlanta and about 15-20 minutes away because most of the things I like to do is in the city or slightly north of the city.
  • So happy to hear all is well @hockeyfan42 and @crdo!!
  • @laurenm2123 I've only read the stuff on my pregnancy app and a handful of Pinterest blog posts. I'm hoping to get happiest baby on the block for Christmas though.

How far along are you? 9wks today

How are you feeling? Good! So far I've had to extremely easy, so the minor aches and pains are nothing to complain about.

Rants/Raves? I'm literally counting the minutes until lunch. 4 hrs, I've eaten 5 times...

GTKY: Do you prefer city life, country life, or somewhere in between? I prefer an urban suburb like we live in now. Walking distance to restaurants and stuff, but still in a single family home with a small yard.

How are you feeling: better today. Yesterday was my most nauseous day, but I've had it pretty easy.

QUESTION**************************************Does anyone else get blocked nasal passages at night? I've been waking up every night around 2 am with dry mouth and I toss and turn trying to get back to sleep. Most days I do, but sometimes I cannot and it sucks. I used to take Zyrtec most nights during allergy season (July-oct), but that's over, so I can only assume it's pregnancy-related. I breathe just fine during the day and don't have a stuffy nose or cold. It's just at night

@laurenm2123 - I bought 4 pregnancy books within a week of finding out, but after reading part of one I lost my steam. And I'm usually a big reader so this is a little unusual for me.
    1. How far along are you? 7w3d
    2. How are you feeling? Ugh. Tired, cold and have a stomachache, headache and neck pain today (and tylenol is an absolute joke). Accepted a friend's lunch invite and am regretting it, but have turned her down twice already because of 'not feeling well.' Will be a relief when I can tell people I'm pregnant and stop lying!
    3. Rants/raves: The stupid Starbucks cup thing. It's dumb people are upset. It's dumb people are so upset over others being upset. Want something to be upset over? You're paying over $5 for crappy coffee, processed sugar & hormone laced steamed milk. It doesn't matter what cup it's in. You still lose and Jesus doesn't care about your cup.
    4. GTKY : Do you prefer city life, country life, or somewhere in between? Used to be a city person all the way. But after living in Southern CA for 13 years I dream of a place with parking spaces, winter, big kitchens and real people who don't require vegan organic dog food.

    4. GTKY : Do you prefer city life, country life, or somewhere in between? Country all the way.  I am from a small town in North Alabama and we live on a farm.  Our Wal-Mart is 10-15 minutes away, but if we want to eat out anywhere we are looking at an hour or so.  Even my doctors office is 45 minutes from home.  We love it and I wouldn't trade it for anything!

How are you feeling? nauseous- it's been getting worse this week.  I'm also super gas-y causing bloating and some chest pain.  I really wish I could take a nap.

Rants/Raves? Yesterday I had our first US- and saw the little heartbeat.  Baby actually looked like a thin line that flickered in the middle.  Tomorrow is our first OB appointment- so I just need to get through the next 3 hours and I can work in sweatpants tomorrow.

GTKY: Do you prefer city life, country life, or somewhere in between?  City life!  We recently moved to central Jersey from Astoria (Queens, NY) and miss being able to walk every where.  Plus the limited amount of delivery options in the suburbs means my poor husband is going to be hungry if the MS doesn't ease up soon.

Rants/Raves? No Rants or Raves here! Has anyone seen an update from @jaceyannie on the triplets? I haven't seen anything but I've been a slacker. I was worried about her and wondering how everything was going.

GTKY: Do you prefer city life, country life, or somewhere in between? I guess somewhere in between. I like the country because I hate having neighbors right next to me but I also don't like to be too far from the city if I need anything!

Pretty good in the early morning (very little MS, great hair and my skin looks amazing) and terrible MS at night. I'm also having nightmares and constantly worried about the baby stopped growing. These fears started before reading that some of our fellow bumpies were leaving us this week (for that same reason). I'm feeling sorry for their losses keeping them in my thoughts and praying that's not happening at the same time.

    Rants/Raves?
Rant: stressed and irritated with my mother and her taking my generosity for granted.
Rave: New job I start next week and excited to be in a desk job with little stress and flexible hours.

I'm a beach city girl, but love the Midwest. We're talking about eventually moving back to Illinois. where boyfriend is from being that neither of us want to raise a child in Las Vegas. He loved his small town upbringing and the city is a 45 min train ride away.
