Best thing for pp depression/ anxiety

I have clinical ocd and it's been really bad lately. I have nothing against medicine because sometimes you just need help. However I have been running lately mostly to get back into physical shape but began to realize that the days I ran were really low anxiety days and I had far fewer intrusive thoughts. We all know exercise is good for you altogether but I am blown away by truly how helpful it has been. Better than medicine by far. I would really encourage anyone suffering with ppd to try getting your heart rate up and see how it helps. I don't go to a gym and I'm home alone so I go for brisk walks with intervals of running with the stroller. It's not always easy and I usually have to motivate myself but it's free and it truly improves my mood. Just some encouragement for you moms struggling!

  • How do you run with a stroller? I heard it's not really safe until they can be in the stroller seat rather than their car seat on the stroller.
Just curious how you do it because I would love to start running again!!

  • I run with little one in his car seat attached to the jogging stroller (Chico keyfit seat and Baby Jogger Summit X3 stroller). He's perfectly safe and secure in it. I run on pavement so not real bumpy either. I agree it's great for anxiety/depression.
  • @amykrell I can't do it continuously because it's not a jogging stroller but I do short bursts to keep my heart rate high and then when dh gets home I go for a proper run by myself. It's harder with the stroller so the short bursts are pretty good at getting my blood pumping. And I stick to quiet neighborhoods with nicely paved roads.
