Engaged a year
Married about 15 months
Funny story we had a 13 month engagement, everything done and planned in 1 month (when you're together for nearly a decade you don't need much time to plan!) and we could have moved up our wedding but declined - our venue was in demand. SURPRISE I got pregnant the week we could have gotten married, so at our wedding I was 5 months pregnant. Now my advice to couples who have been together for a long time like us - short engagements
When our son is born we'll have been together for 5 whole years! When everyone found out we were finally expecting, our families, including my 6 year old were all like "finally!". I guess they've been been waiting for us to procreate for awhile haha. We've discussed marriage but are in no rush, despite the constant pokes from both sides about when it's coming.
Time sure does fly!
We'd dated for 2 months when a friend left for a cruise ship gig and needed someone to sublet his apartment. We jumped in! My parents were a little shocked with their innocent little girl!! We slowed down after that though. Engaged 8 months later, married in 2001. Married for 14 years! We survived three university degrees together--grad school is really hard on a marriage! Our last names were alphabetically next to each other, so we got to sit together for graduation of our Bachelors', Masters', and Doctoral degrees, and we were the only married couple that graduated together in 2007. I was 5 months pregnant with our first DS. DS #2 born in 2010. It's been a wonderful adventure!
I met my dh when I was 12. His step brothers were my neighbors and my younger brothers best friend. He came to visit his dad one weekend when I was over. He was awful when I first met him... A bully and just plain mean... But he grew on me over the years! We stayed friends for a little while mine till I was 15-16... Then I didn't see him again until I was 20. He came to my younger brothers 18 birthday party. And he had changed so much I barely recognized him.. we went on our first date a couple days later and have been together since!!!!
