Headaches?

Hi everyone I am a first time mom and am expecting a son in 2 weeks. I went my whole pregnancy with one maybe two headaches but these last few days I've been getting them everyday :( most of the time with horrible back pain and at times they cause me to vomit. Anyone else experience this or have any advice on how to ease them? I used a heating pad and Tylenol but that doesn't always help.

  • Yup, definitely get your BP checked, preeclampsia is no joke!
  • Yes this happened to me. I called L&D and because they are the same as headaches I've had before and no history of high BP she said to take Tylenol and drink lots of water and it's likely hormones. I had a 3 days of headaches on and off and then a batch of crazy contractions one night. It calmed down and I've been back to "normal" since. Strange

  • Did you get back pain with your headache as well? I can deal with the headache but its the back pain and vomiting that makes everything worse
  • I would call and get checked out or ask what they want you to do.

A headache alone isn't super concerning because of all the hormones, but you should check your BP, just in case. If it were pre-e you would be experiencing swelling too. So if you're seeing that, for sure go get checked out.
  • I have a back ache just from the weight so I didn't notice with the headaches as well. Yes if you are swelling go in right away.... Maybe just call if you still have one today tho - how many days now?

  • Def call your dr, I've been having the same issues the past week. My BP is high and I've been monitoring it a few times a day. Also dr out me on a caffeine type med for the headaches for now until my 24 urine test comes back. My blood work was ok at L&D last week.

    Good luck

    This.

  • I've been having headaches too. Woke up one morning with a horrible migrain but thank the lord it went away. A hot shower helps me. I also have eucalyptus epsome salts that I rub on my neck and back, or where the muscles ache. And then peppermint oil on my temples and behind my ears and on my forehead. ( careful tho to avoid your eyes!! Peppermint oil in the eyes isn't fun) that usually helps a bit. I've always been prone to headaches and usually a regular Tylenol doesn't even dint the pain, I usually go straight to t4s. My dr said it was fine to take one if I wanted. It was pretty bad but I didn't want to take anything so I held off and thankfully the migrain didn't last long. Hope you are feeling better soon.
