Bumps on legs?

They look almost like bug bites, they vary in size but are usually some angry red. They showed up on my legs very shortly after I got pregnant and haven't gone away. I keep forgetting to ask my Dr about them. I asked some friends who told me they were bug bites, and I thought maybe so I left it alone.
But they don't go away. They don't itch usually. I'm seldom outside and I couldn't tell you the last time I actually had a bite. If they were bites I also don't think they would be localized to my legs. Please tell me someone else has this or has seen it?
I'm 17 weeks If it's relevant but it's been there for the last two months minimum

  • I also have something similar that comes and goes on my arm. It started about a week ago. I go to my OB next week so I'm going to ask about it then.

  • I have had something similar on my arms with this pg and my last. I think the skin gets irritated easily during pregnancy because of hormones and extra elastin. Ask your doc though, couldn't hurt to mention it!

  • I have nothing valuable to contribute to the conversation. I'm only commenting because I think "bumps on legs" is an apt description for how all of us are going to look in a good 4 or 5 months, and it's making me giggle.

I do hope you find an answer though! Skin issues are the worst.

So glad I clicked on this thread now

OP: could they be bumps from shaving? My skin has gotten much more sensitive since I got pregnant and shaving has become a huge nuisance.

Omg I totally had to read this like 8 times before I got it... pregnancy brain?

OP could it be acne? I've noticed the occational acne on my chest now where I haven't had issues before.
  • I had this exact same reaction happen to me during my last pregnancy. I do not remember what the OB called it, but they prescribed some higher prescription strength Cortizone and it knocked it out within two weeks. Definitely ask your OB!
  • Looks like acne to me, but I've had acne on my legs for years, and nothing helps. I had relief from that during the first tri, but it's back now.

^this. @AmadorRose seriously I get the most ridiculous razor burn since becoming pregnant. My legs get bumps and flair up. So itchy!!! I have to go two weeks in between shaving if I want any relief. It's really annoying.

  • Nope, not razor burn. Honestly I get really out of breath so I don't shave normally anymore. They don't have heads like zits do, so I don't think acne.
  • I posted a thread about this a couple months ago when I first got my BFP. After about a week of realizing I was pregnant, I got this horrible rash on my legs and arms. Specifically on my tattoos. I was told it was just hormone flare up, and they eventually went away on their own. Having dry skin also made it 100000x worse.
  • I have lumps on my legs that are larger. After visiting a dermatologist they are almost positive it's something called erythema nodosum. It can be inherently related to pregnancy and is harmless aside from the annoying bumps. However it can also have other underlying infectious causes so they did lots of bloodwork and biopsy to rule out other infections. Could be worth asking your dr about but hoping its a just a weird pregnancy symptom for you too.

@NachosAndPeaches @kalanieileen I'm no artist but let me give it a shot:

No!!! It won't post my beautiful art!
  • How long did it take for this to go away? And has it reoccured?

I just got diagnosed with EN today. I have like 7-8 on each leg & they are very painful. Also, the inflammation & swelling is making walking around very painful. Hoping for a quick recovery, I still have 6 more weeks until LO is going to arrive & I really need to get back to work.
  • I have hand foot and mouth, and I have bumps just like that on my legs... And hands, knees, feet, and sores in my mouth... Hope that isn't what you have.
  • That's initially what the dr thought, but I never got them on my feet or mouth, just started with flu like symptoms & progressed to painful welts on my shins & really bad inflammation in my joints. Started on a topical steroid yesterday night & I'm amazed at the difference it has made. Hoping for a fast recovery without other reoccurrance. EN is horrible.
