  • Team green! Last time and this time!

  • We will definitely find out as soon as we can. Neither DH or I do well with surprises; I actually get anxiety from anything surprise related.  :\">

  • @elenabrent I want to know the sex as well, but have considered not telling others because I prefer more gender-neutral items. I decided that we will tell people and I'll have to suck it up if people give me hideous pink-on-pink girl's clothes or something like that! I realize the baby won't actually know the difference, but blech!
  • Defs finding out.

I have an 11 weeks old with a bursting closet to die for. She was 000000 born (2.6kg) and now 000. I have kept all of her outgrown stuff so far but...

If this one is a little boy, im going to need to donate to make room.

We said we would only have one, but two is definitely it, so if we are team blue its gotta go.

  • We most definitely want to find out.. I can't wait!!! We are probably going to have a little gender reveal with close friends and family as well :)
  • We will probably wait.  We were team green with both our boys, and we've discussed finding out this time, since if its a girl, we'll need to do some room shuffling.  If we do find out, we won't share with anyone else.

  • We will find out at our a/s. We will probably have DD announce to the family once we find out the sex.

I asked DH what he wanted and he said he didn't understand waiting and wants to know whenever they can tell us from an ultrasound. I understand the idea of waiting but I hate surprises! I'd rather just know. Besides, DH and I will likely have a hard enough time picking out names for 1 sex much less having to come up with boy and girl names just in case.

We have agreed that the nursery will be gender neutral though. Right now we're looking at a cute forest theme with little animals and such. I think it would be equally cute for a little girl or a little boy.

@neolietrex I confess I've already been guilty of saying that I don't care as long as baby is healthy.

I thought people phrased it like that because of those people out there that like to start drama over anything they can twist. Ya know like if you say "I think I'd prefer a girl because I can relate to that better. Plus the cute dresses." and then the person treats you like what you actually said was "I'll only want and love this baby if it's a girl." Maybe I just know too many toxic, judgmental people.

  • Yep, I'll be finding out. Mostly because I want to give the baby his or her name in utero. That was a huge part of bonding/nesting with dd.
  • I want to wait to find out. I think my husband would want to find out but will go with whatever I choose.

This is my 3rd pregnancy with 2losses so I'm hoping for my rainbow baby and honestly don't care about the gender just want a healthy baby.
  • I'm so torn! We found out with DD and there's a part of me that really wants to be surprised. The other part of me knows that we will have a ton of clothing to donate/rearrange if it's a boy and wants to get started on that ASAP! I guess we'll see which side wins over!

  • We have a 2yo girl and an 8mo boy so hubs wants to wait to find out since we have everything from both! I am part of the group that doesn't understand the desire to wait. I mean the ultrasound tech knows, your dr knows, any nurse that looks at your chart knows, so you are choosing to be the only one in that room that is surprised. So that being said, if he wants to be surprised, I'll probably let him, but I will defiantly be finding out!! We have 2 kids at home so it's not like he'll be able to come to all my appointments with me!
  • I actually already know the sex! Due to IVF and chromosome testing our embryos after repeated losses, we found out the gender of our embryos. I'm still lurking - our embryo transfer is on Friday but will be be due July 31! So crazy to know that we are transferring a healthy boy!
    TTC 02/11, Diagnosed IF 01/14 tubal factor IVF #1 08/14 - cancelled IVF #2 10/14 - egg retrieval only, fresh transfer cancelled due to OHSS FET #1 12/17/14 - 2 blasts, BFP 12/24/14, D&C 01/21/15 - twin blighted ovums FET #2 04/03/15 - 2 blasts, BFP 04/09/15, EDD 12/20/15
  • We were team green for DD and loved it. We'll do the same again. It was a pretty incredible moment having the doctor hold her up and say "you have a daughter!"

This is actually not true (unless you get the genetic testing in early pregnancy)

If you tell your ultrasound tech you don't want to know the sex, they don't write the sex on the report. There's no medical reason that your doctor needs to know, so the tech won't report it unless asked to. I was actually told by my ultrasound tech that they don't even look at the genitals of the fetus unless you ask to know the sex, although the ultrasound tech may see the sex while assessing other body parts.

Still a valid opinion of not understanding the desire to wait :) just not true about other people knowing. My doctor and nurses found out seconds before we did that DD was a girl.
  • I'm undecided. I wanted to know with my first 2. My last one my DH couldn't stand it so we found out. I have 2 boys 1 girl. I think we are having a girl
    But my DH thinks boy.
  • I'm of the mind that it is a surprise now matter when you find out, so you might as well be prepared.
DH also says he wants to freak out appropriately.
    We will be finding out.

  • I'd like to think I am someone who could go the entire 9 months and wait for the surprise at birth...but...I am not haha!  We will be finding out!  With DS we did a gender reveal party with our friends and family, for this one we will find out then do something clever to announce it to everyone.
  • It would be cool to wait til the end to find out but neither my husband nor I are patient enough to do that so we are going to find out ASAP!
  • My husband and I decided to wait to find out the sex. But I'm only 4-5 weeks so that may change
  • Team green!!! With our first we found out and that was fun. But I'm more excited for the surprise of the second and plan to enjoy my pregnant :-)

    This.

I have assisted to deliver many babies and every medical professional in the room is just as surprised as the parents of team green babies when the time comes. Sex is not included in ultrasound reports unless requested or necessary for any other reason.
  • We will definitely be finding out!  With DS1, we had an elective 3D scan at 16 weeks to find out and will likely do that again.  :)  I am entirely too impatient to wait to find out pink or blue.
  • My husband was firmly Team Green for our 1st so I compromised and said I would be too but I'd want to find out for the 2nd. I will wait until the anatomy scan (20 w) to find out. I don't want the back and forth "we think it's a boy, oh no, it looks like a girl" business. I'm pretty Type A so I really want to be able to find out what clothes we can re-use. :P
  • I'd find out the second I got a positive test, if I could. Super impatient.
  • I always thought I would find out, but now I'm starting to think team green.  The things I like for accessories and nursery décor are all gender neutral anyways.  I just found out this morning so who knows how I'll feel in a few weeks!

  • Hate surprises. Going to find out when I can.
  • I'm the type of person that wants to know everything. I found out with my first. DH wants to wait until birth and after thinking about it I have agreed to go team green. (I did tell him if we discover that we are having twins I want to find out the genders and he was ok with that...... I only mentioned it because they do run in my family)
  • Thank you @BostonBaby1 for pointing out gender=\= sex. If you are finding out you will be finding out sex! Gender is developed.

We will be finding out sex, undecided if we are going to keep it a secret or just the name. My MIL (who doesn't know yet) said the other night she drempt that someone she knew was having a boy... She also drempt we had a girl while pregnant with DD so it will be interesting to see!

  • We found out with DD at 17 weeks and I plan to find out around the same time with this one!! I can't wait to know!
  • This is my first pregnancy and although we want a boy, we want to be surprised and find out at the same time everyone else does at the baby shower. We intend to have neutral colors at the baby shower but have one pink and one blue balloon and when we cut the cake, the inside of the cake will reveal the color of the sex of the baby! When we get the color, we pop the balloon that is not the baby's sex for everyone in the room to see.
  • I want to be team green but my husband wants to find out. I'd be ok with that except that I know he'd either slip up and accidentally tell me or I would cave and ask him and he'd tell me. I'm working on convincing him to wait.
    Me too!!

  • I want to find out at the 20wk a/s. 9 months is a long time, it is nice to have something at the half way point to look forward to. Like others have said, it is a surprise either way. At the actual birth there is so much going on anyways and you finally get to hold your baby! Way too much commotion for me to care about the baby's sex at that point.

Also if it is a boy I get to buy more stuff. Fwiw with my first I didn't trust the u/s tech and tried to get everything gender neutral, but it turns out there really isn't as much cute gender neutral stuff as you would think.

  • I'm finding out as soon as possible!! It's not that I don't like surprises, it's just I'm too impatient!!! Props to all those Team Green's out there, you're tough for holding out! :D

  • I am team #FindOutSex. Naming kids is hard, that way I can focus on one sex and not both. Also, knowing that my child is a he/she helps me  connect to them.
    Thank God for Raid.

  • I want to know, like, yesterday. Haha. I can't imagine not planning for one or the other, especially deciding on names. Picking just one was hard enough with DS.
