Now that we know we're having another girl, DH is easily on board that this isn't our last kiddo. So I'm curious now what others plans are!

Re: How many babies?

  • Well in my case I think 2 is more than enough. I did consider having an only child but having grown up with 4 siblings, I'd want my child to have a sister or brother. And like my friend said "you have way too much love in you for only one child. You'd drive the child mad". :P
But if we ended up having a third child by accident I wouldn't mind it much. I just won't plan for it :)

  • I would be fine with just having one, but I think there are benefits to a child having a sibling/ siblings so we plan on having two.
  • I say 5+, but only because DH already has 3 and I want 4 of my own. He has 3 siblings and I have 5. I love crazy, full houses and honestly only have inside pets because I can't handle being home by myself or just the two of us. There just isn't enough activity.
Plus, I've noticed that kids with several siblings tend to entertain each other, but if there isn't a sibling or there's only one, Mom has a lot more work to do to keep them occupied ;)
  • I voted 4, but it's really like 3-4. It depends on how it goes with 2, then (hopefully!) 3. DH wanted 3, I wanted 4...he's one of 4, I'm one of 3 lol. So we'll see!

My fiance has 3 brothers and they are still a handful when they're all together even though they're grown lol. I admire people who have the patience to deal with so many children at once especially if they're really close in age.

My 5 siblings were born in a span on about 7 years, while I trailed almost 8 years behind. I will take a 2 1/2 - 3 year hiatus after this LO is born to finish school and establish my career, but after that I'm not going to get back on BC until I'm done, and just let It happen as it will. Nothing says Christmas like a kitchen packed full of people talking and so much ruckus from nieces & nephews in the next room that you can barely hear yourself think.
  • DH is one of 5, I'm one of 2 (plus a teenage half brother I just learned about last year, but that's another story all together).

Nevertheless, he wants 5-6. I say 3, tops. We will see. He's really hoping to have twins someday... No thanks!
  • Most likely we will have another one after this, so 3. I would love more, but realistically I think 3 makes the most sense for us from a time management and financial stand point.
  • I voted SS because we want 3-4. Probably 3 per DH but I still think I want 4. I know I'm crazy and will probably be done after this one hahahah. I just really want a daughter and have a feeling my next will also be a boy so 3 boys may make me just crazy enough to try one more time for a girl.

  • We're a definite for two, I think, although if we don't end up with a boy the second time around, we might end up trying for a 3rd. I feel a little bad admitting that, because the sex isn't really that big a deal in the long run, but my husband has always wanted a son, and if he still feels that way after two girls, I'm not opposed to considering a chance in plans.
  • We had planned on only 2 and were very set on that until we were surprised with twins. So we will have 3 despite our best intentions!
  • We'll see how this one goes before I plan on more. I also kind of want to adopt if I have another kid due to concerns about overpopulation.
  • 5+ because we already have 5+, but this is the last.

I said 4. We always said 3-4. This is 3for us. Everyone says that you just know when you are done and you are at peace with it. I don't feel like this is my last....I don't feel like I'm ready. But I get Ms for over 20weeks and it's really taking it's toll this time with 2 other kids to take care of. don't know if I can do another. We'll see!

  • I really want 3-4 but DH at first only wanted 1. We are now on DD#2 so I hope I can convince him into have a third in a few years!
  • I said 5+ because I'm one of five and DH is one of four. We would both like to have a larger family than what we grew up with.

This was my original plan, because I was convinced we'd have a bunch of boys - DH family is boy heavy, he's 1 of 5 with 4b/1g. Now that I know we'll have at least one of each, I'm feeling better about the 3 and done. ;)
  • Im almost certain I dont want more than 1. I haven't enjoyed pregnancy so far at all, and I cant imagine going through this again, while still working full time and with a toddler. My DH really wants more though, he is an only child. He actually brought it up last night, that this LO needs a little brother or sister. I think he may unintentionally guilt me into 1 more, but we'll see!

I SS'd because we're licensed as foster parents and as a potential adoptive family through the state and plan to do that for as long as we can emotionally and financially handle it.
This is baby number 2, which is the number we had talked about having biologically when we were engaged, but we haven't had another serious talk about it yet.

  • I said 4. This is the 4th and the last for us. I thought I was done at 3, but DH was 1 of 4 and he wanted another, so I gave in.

  • Before pregnancy I always thought 1 and that's it... Mostly to minimize career interruptions. But now that I'm pregnant with #1 and loving it so much, I can totally see myself with 2. But no more than 2.
  • We always said 2 so we weren't outnumbered but I've been talking more and more about 3. Something just doesn't feel complete and I'm not sure why! We are having our 2nd boy, but I've always pictured having all boys so I wouldn't be having a 3rd just for the hopes of a girl. I guess we will see!

  • I voted 4 because this 4th pregnancy has not been kind to me. However, we originally wanted 4-6, and I can see us having more after this one, whether it's biological or through fostering to adopt.

  • I always wanted 3 (coming from a family of 3 kids), and DH always wanted only 2 (coming from 2). Though he did made a mistake of promising me 3 in his proposal :) But really, I think I'm going to be ok with 2. In the Midwest, where I'm from, it's much more common to have many kids, here in the NE the majority of families only have 2. I think we'll settle with 2, but I wouldn't be surprised if we had an oops! 3rd (we got pregnant on the first try every time (4 pregnancies with 2 losses)). Also, I don't want to risk going through any losses again, I don't think I could handle that. But we both may change our minds once we watch these two interact.
  • This is our fourth and final baby. The fact that this is my last pregnancy makes me kind of sad. I've been lucky and have had pretty easy pregnancies. I know I will miss it.
  • I have 2 biological son's and my husband has 3 children 2 girls and 1 boy. Though 1 of the girls has passed. My husband and I are pregnant with our 1 and only child together.

I want 3, DH would be happy with two but we were surprised with twins! I really don't like the thought of only being pregnant and experiencing this all only once. DH is ok with 3 but the logistics will be trickier to figure out. We also have the added risk of more twins so that would be interesting

  • I vote 3. After this baby, we will have 1 of each. I just get the feeling we're not done and I've been working on convincing Dh that adopting a little one with Down syndrome is an awesome idea for about 2 years. Hopefully that little one will be #3 :)
  • I wanted 2. I had my first 11 years ago and now all these years later were having number 2. Needless say my son super excited and financee wants number 3 quickly after this one because if the gap and he really wants the kids to grow up with each other and have fun. Our first definitely suffers from only child syndrome.
  • DH and I ALWAYS knew it would be one and done. We both know that we would be comfortable financially with only one. Our LO will have several cousins in the same age group which takes away the "sibling guilt trip." So we're perfectly happy with being a party of 3. :)
  • This is already #5 for us. We are definitely going for 6, either through pregnancy or adoption. Who knows what will happen after that. ;-)

  • This is number 6 for us. I was sure when I had three that I only wanted one more, but we didn't feel complete, so we tried for one more. We were absolutely sure that we were done after the fifth, and dh planned to get a vasectomy, but we got pregnant with twins. We lost them, but getting pregnant again made us less sure that we were ready for a permanent birth control solution; we were being extremely careful when we got pregnant this time, though.
Dh is definitely going through with the surgery after this, though. I am too old for this shit, and it is way too easy for me to get pregnant, no matter how careful we are.
  • My husband is the oldest of 5, I'm the youngest of 2. This is baby #2 for us, and I'm ok with being done. DH really wants one more though, and I have a feeling he'll talk me into it... :x
  • I voted 1 and done. That could change, but as of right now DH and I are only planning on 1 child. I'm an only child and DH basically was, his sister was born when he was 11. So neither one of us has the nostalgia of growing up with a sibling.
  • We've always wanted a larger family, but also accept that we need to take it one at a time. Right now, if all goes well with #3, I think we'll stop at 4. That's about all our budget can handle at the moment!

I always wanted three when I was younger but after DS I felt content and was happy with our family. I decided I was done after 1. DH really wanted one more and I also felt DS needed a sibling considering I come from a big family and DH has one brother. I'm pretty sure we are done after this one but I suppose you never really know.
  • I voted 2 because I want our kid to have a sibling but the longer i'm pregnant the more i'm thinking I NEVER want to do this again. If only I'd married a woman who could make the next one!

  • This is our 2nd and we are done. If we won the lottery I would definitely want 1 more though.
  • I was perfectly fine being done after our 2 boys. But then we got our big "surprise" - a girl!
And now, I am so glad hubby procrastinated on that vasectomy!
    But there definitely won't be a 4th!
     V-day is happening!  :)

First of all, lol at too old for this shit. Second, sorry about your twin loss. I don't think I knew that, just that you were expecting your 6th!
