Happy stories?

It's almost Friday (thank the lord) and this week has been hell.I always like to hear about good things happening to others as a pick me up. Plus quite a few of you have children already and your happy child stories make me SO excited to have my own soon! So; does anyone have some good news and happy things to share?! I went through the ticker change but not many people did today's :(

Ps thanks for the good thanksgiving food recipes from all your posts! :)

Dd started saying "you're welcome" whenever she does something that she thinks you should say thank you for, it's seriously adorable!!
I love it when she does it to someone who doesn't say thank you... She's so polite.

Although when she says please she sometimes is more of a yelling I'm saying please but I mean give it to me now! Usually I give in because she's sort of using manners haha... Sometimes I ask her to say it nicely and not yell it

That's so cute! I was the kid who always yelled please. at least she is teaching others manners when she says you're welcome, they better learn to say thank you! :)
  • DS1 is starting to talk and I'm really excited about it.

    First word?
  • DS is trying to walk. He took like 10 steps yesterday while we were out. Just seeing his face light up at recognizing his accomplishment melts my heart

Seeing a baby's first step is magical. I remember when my cousin learned how to walk, she took 3 steps and then smacked her face on the floor. She didn't cry because she was so excited about having done it.

Gah! Thanks for the stories guys! I love them! :) seriously it makes me smile so much hearing about all these things!
  • My third child, my daughter Natalia turns 3 on the 8th! Very excited, Monday we will be taking her to the zoo since my husband works 12hr shifts this weekend. My birthday is the 7th :)

Not a story about "my" kids, but I got an email from a former student last night. She was in my freshman class last year and was going to be in my sophomore class, but moved away. It warned my heart. She said she learned so much in my class last year and was really prepared for what they are doing this year, and she never would have been so interested in music if not for my class.

This is just beautiful!!! Too many people don't realize just how much teachers do, sounds like you're doing an amazing job!

Every night DH and DD (19mo) have a routine of reading a book together. Over the past few months they have made it an interactive time depending on the book. Recently, the book of choice has been Where The Wild Things Are. DH has taught DD to flail her arms when he says ruckus and when he reads the part about "they roar their terrible roars", she roars loudly. They are so sweet together, I always go to her room and stand in her doorway to watch this part of the evening. Little Blue Truck is another favorite. She "reads" the "beep, beep, beep" and the "HONK" parts. In these 10 minutes every day, I can do nothing other than smile and be thankful for exactly what I have in life.

This is parenting done right! So cute! I hope you made a home video to show during future family events when they're grown up! :)
  • My son turned two last month and the baby concept was not happening at all for him. We've got books to explain and I have to remind him all the time to be gentle as he uses my stomach as a jungle gym. Well last night after saying goodnight he was half way up the stairs and then ran back down them and came and kissed my tummy and said "night baby, wuv you". I bawled!

I just said "awe!" Out loud while reading this, seriously so cute. :)
  • My son, 4.5, is trying to learn the words to "soft kitty" to sing to his sister, 22 months, and the baby :)

    Like from Big Bang theory?
Soft kitty, warm kitty, little ball of fur?
I hope he gets it down soon! I imagine it will be insanely adorable.
  • Thanks everybody for sharing your stories!! I seriously LOVE things like and really appreciate it. It's going to be a good Friday! I hope my children will one day be as cute as some of yours are!
I also hope they will only have teachers that inspire them like you did with your student! @cantobean
  • @oxsarah7ox it's a good habit so she won't jump on baby when she starts walking either, but that's so cute! Dog stories are just as great as LO stories . (And I can relate to dog stories!) sounds like the training is going well, so cute of him to be her perch :)

Happy early birthday! It looks like we got several November birthday here, mine is the 22nd!

  • DD is really into her name so if you call her something else she goes "no
lily" it's super cute. Also we made the mistake of always saying "more please" so now she thinks more means please. If you ask her to say please she goes "mooore" so politely.

DS absolutely LOVES Where The Wild Things Are and the Little Blue Truck series. He is three and whenever he picks one of those books for his bedtime story all I have to do is turn the pages because he has the books memorized. He even narrates the pages in Where the Wild Things Are that don't have any words: "They were dancing and jumping.... Hanging in the trees like monkeys... And dancing and marching..."

    First word?
I should clarify, DS1 is speech delayed so his first word was Dada but he did not pick up much more. Now he's just over 2 and he's starting to say new words with purpose and that really exciting.

Exactly. I was given a shirt for my teen that has the words on it and it's too small for her but works great as a night shirt for my toddler ;)

    He's pretty much mastered it.

We closed on our house loan so soon it'll start being built!

Our daughter is in the process of being potty trained and she had no accidents last night. And she even went #2 twice in her potty.
Potty success is so exciting!! Good for her - and you, mom!
  • I'm really enjoying seeing my bump "jump" when Butch starts to kick. I told myself I was going to get up 10 min ago to start my pampering day since H went to go golf (we're on our babymoon), but I'm having too much fun laughing at my iPad screen when it goes up and down
@brushesnbrunch I love this. I do it too. My new favorite activity is sitting on the couch, leaning back, pulling my top over the belly and watching Baby Girl move!
  • @egraves4 how awesome! Happy early birthday @thisusername thank you so much ladies.

I'm a music teacher too! That's a beautiful story and makes our job so worth it. Which state do you teach in?
