I'm now 30 weeks and 3 days today but a week ago I had my doctors appt and everything and they did an ultrasound and tried to do a 3D ultrasound (which we want one so bad to see her) but she had her arms and legs covering her face, all I saw was an eye for a split second but I was just wondering if they would even do another 3D?
Re: 3D ultrasound
Please don't be disappointed if you don't get another ultrasound, because that means you're having a healthy pregnancy. And in less than 10 weeks you'll see her in real 3D.
ETA- a dr isn't going to give an extra u/s just because you want to see the baby in 3D. There was a time not too long ago (and actually still happens) when women never saw their baby until they delivered.
The reason I ask is I've had about 20+ u/s this pregnancy due to a lot of complications. Not once did any tech switch over to 3D to get a better look at something. They did switch over to try and give us a show, which was very sweet, but it wasn't for any medical reason. And we've never had a doctor request a 3D pic to clarify anything.
Also, i've never heard of 3d ultrasounds exclusively detecting things that 2d ultrasounds cannot. I understand that you are dissapointed, but I would just wait if I were you. I don't know ur docs specific policy, but I'm guessing (based on most docs), that they will not do another just so you can see the baby. You can always call and ask them though
For everyone about not knowing a difference in ultrasounds. 3D ultrasound is an advanced method which captures a true, three-dimensional image of your baby, often allowing the ability to see specific facial features and well-defined formation.
(:
But thank you all for your insights and stop trying to argue with me. Goodnight. (:
While some of the posts may have been calling you out, your reaction was childish and the tone is in poor taste. Try ignoring the comments you don't like, and avoid name calling. These people are merely trying to provide you with additional thoughts to consider.
My midwives also made the point that there is still not real proof that multiple u/s will not have negative results. There is just not enough long term data, given that when most of us were born our parents were just being offered ultrasounds at all. My mom had one, my husbands mom had none in all three pregnancies. Yes, they are considered generally safe, but still why risk additional exposures if it's not medically necessary, is I think all people are trying to get you to consider.

My brain really is having a hard time processing this. :-? @-) [-(
Eta: why bother apologizing when it's apparent that you don't mean it?
