WAYDTGKU: checking CM/CP, NTNP - no temping this cycle

R/R/CS: Had EWCM Saturday but my O usually doesn't sync up exactly with CM, so I'm guessing it was either yesterday today or tomorrow. O'd on CD17 my first cycle and CD18 my second cycle so we shall see! Anyways...

Do any of you ladies waver back and forth on TTC? I know some here have been trying for a long time and have had a tough journey so it most likely won't apply to you... But I guess some days I just have a minor freak out and think about what a huge change it will be and worry that I'm not ready - but I think that's just more my worrisome side. Because most days I am so excited at the thought of it. I don't knoooow - just ranting that's all! Monday feelings lol :))

GTKY: What pre-natals/vitamins are you taking to prep for TTC? I take a natural brand one that I found at Kroger, I'm not that picky, just didn't want a lot of extra chemicals in it!

WAYDTGKU: opk, cm, temping and charting...

R/R/CS: This is my 5th cycle off of BCPs... I have charted the entire time. My period have gone from 5 days the first 2 months of bcps to 2 days last cycle and 1 day this cycle... I'm going in for my annual this thursday so I will ask her but it makes me a bit worried. I know I'm ovulating though.

GTKY: What pre-natals/vitamins are you taking to prep for TTC? Not sure the name. I was gifted them... but will ask my gyno about them.

My periods have been so short and light since coming off BC! 2 days - 3 max and that's including a day of spotting. It is the weirdest thing because I used to have intense periods and painful cramping and now it's like I barely even notice AF besides the light flow. I don't want to complain because it seems like a good deal to me lol just hope it doesn't have anything to do with my fertility! Definitely update with what your doctor has to say :)

    WAYDTGKU: Everything...

R/R/CS: Ugh it's Monday... what happened to the weekend? I don't really have any updates today only that DH and I are just going to "relax" more so I don't get too stressed about this and the upcoming holidays. I realize a lot of people hear the whole "just relax and it will happen", but I'm thinking if I attempt to keep my stress level down between work, the craziness of the holidays, and TTC, we should be in an okay spot. (I'm saying this now on Nov 2nd, so we'll see what happens after talking with Mom in a few weeks as we plan for Thanksgiving...)

R/R/CS:  We had signed up for Aflac effective September 1, and part of me was worried that if we had conceived last month we would be so close to the 10 month wait time for delivery (even though I know there is always a chance for pre-term) I was worried that we would miss the date by just a day or two.

WAYDTGKU: BBT, CM, CP (once AF clears up), and I just ordered wondfos for the first time

R/R/CS: This last cycle had a weird 17 day LP (I'm usually 11-12) and after the negative tests convinced me this was not the cycle, I'm actually glad to be started fresh finally.

GTKY: What pre-natals/vitamins are you taking to prep for TTC? CVS prenatal + a seperate algae derived DHA.  I convinced DH to start on zinc and folate this cycle as well.   We don't have any reason to believe that there's an issue with his sperm, but it can only help.
  • @MNturnsVA I know what you mean. 20% feels low. Although I just saw an excerpt from a natural pregnancy book that said a more positive way to look at it was that you have like an 80% chance of conceiving in a year. I like that better.

  • Oh and I already ordered my period present this weekend after I got a BFN at 14 DPO. We plan on decorating our future baby's nursery in a cute monster theme, which is not unlike the cute monsters and zombies in other parts of the house, and there's an Etsy seller that makes tiny clay monsters. I've decided to order a tiny one for each passed cycle and then a big one (she makes different sizes) when we get the BFP. So periods may be a bummer but I'll get to have the little monsters around the house to smile about, and eventually a bigger one to celebrate the baby.

    Aww I love this!!!

  • @MNturnsVA i did use OPK in July, September and now October (skipped August during honeymoon). The pattern I see is a first peak at the beggining of fertile week where the line gets the same as control and lots of CM to the point where I'm sure I'm O (ovulation varies from day 17 to day 25 in the past 8 months...) and then no more CM for 2 days, pale OPK and when I'm starting to think its anovulary month bang second surge, less CM but still ECWM and temp rise (well not yet this month) this has been happening since my CP 2 cycles ago. So maybe my body is still recovering from the CP. I'm just annoyed my cycle are getting longer (well not as bad as other on the board) and AF getting lighter and thinner

    CD: 1

WAYDTGKU: For today, a pity party.

R/R/CS: I have found myself back at CD 1. I never even made it out of WTO last cycle. :(

It looks to me like I just had an anovulatory cycle. I geared up to ovulate but never had the temp shift to confirm. However, the cycle was only 29 days, a bit shorter than my normal 32-35 day cycles, and I thought anovulatory cycles tend to be longer. I saw a definite temp shift the previous cycle, but had some sinus issues/mouth breathing this cycle (both temping orally). I also noticed that the temperature in the house got much cooler with the weather outside this cycle. (Also, I have the mabis thermometer that everyone loves, so I don't think it's that.) So my questions: do you think last cycle was actually anovulatory or did I miss the temp shift? Would you recommend vaginal temping for this cycle? I definitely have a date with TCOYF tonight!

GTKY: What pre-natals/vitamins are you taking to prep for TTC? Spring Valley from Walmart. I'm thinking about adding one with DHA soon, though.

WAYDTGKU: Half-assed charting, sex for fun and hopefully at least EOD in FW, cutting back on caffeine, eating healthier, OPKs

R/R/CS: It seems like my body is gearing up to O, and I kind of really hope it is.  I haven't ovulated before CD29 (except my first cycle but only had a 5 day LP) so to O sooner would mean my cycles might be getting back to my old regular before I had my son.  Unfortunately my lazy temping might not be much help to confirm it.

GTKY: What pre-natals/vitamins are you taking to prep for TTC?
I think they're VitaFusion gummies.  The pills make me feel sick so I prefer gummies.

  • @MNturnsVA Yea I was really lucky that I was due for my annual pap around when we started ttc... I have too many questions I think I may overwhelm her...

@AshPat0525 I will update you on what she says. I'm hoping it means nothing and it won't affect ttc... they may just get longer and longer once my body adjusts after bcps. I assumed my first couple cycles would be effed up from bcps... but my first 3 off were perfect and then my 4th was sooo off... but its probably my body trying to work without the residual hormones in my system helping it speed things along.

WAYDTGKU: Charting and everything but OPK's

R/R/CS: I'm annoyed with my weird cycles atm. Also annoyed that I didn't start charting sooner so I could know why my last cycle was off.

GTKY: What pre-natals/vitamins are you taking to prep for TTC? Garden of Life vitamin code raw prenatal. They are amazing and don't make me sick like all the others I've tried. Also Udo's 3-6-9 blend with DHA.
Does anyone know if it is ok to take evening primrose oil while TTC? I've read that its helpful for fertility up until you ovulate, but not after, which makes me nervous.

It's technically recommended for men with fertility issues, but besides the cost of the vitamins there's no big downside.  We're only four months in, so we're not about to go get a SA done just yet, but I am wanting to do everything I can each cycle to get that BFP.  The study is below if anyone is interested.

"Subfertile men demonstrated a significant 74% increase in total normal sperm count and a minor increase of 4% abnormal spermatozoa. A similar trend was observed in fertile men."

  • @MNturnsVA - Thank you! Actually that could be to blame. I usually use the bathroom early in the morning, and I didn't use the first OPK until about 10 or 11, so I probably hadn't drank too much water before then, but I usually stay pretty hydrated, so maybe my later tests were diluted? Either way, will be keeping my fingers crossed for a temp rise tomorrow morning or the next day...

@AshPat0525             I can totally relate to how you are feeling.  What I think about most is how different things are going to be between DH and I.  Its been just the 2 of us and the dog for the last 8 years.  I think about how we will change, because surely we will.  I know it will not be the same.  And as much as I want a BFP and a baby, I just would hate to see our relationship fall apart or have things change drastically.  So I worry about that to the point that sometimes I think we should just skip the baby part and go on an amazing vacation every year instead.  but I know those are just my super irrational crazy thoughts running through my head because I'd take a baby any day over an amazing vacation.  I also think about the whole newborn phase and from watching my best friend recently go through it, its hard.  It is not a cake walk. I think there is a lot of reward with parenting, but there can be so many challenges and heart break too.  I know where you are coming from.
Yes! Thank you for understanding! I also think about that, how our relationship will change because it is obviously inevitable.  I know he's going to be an amazing dad but sometimes it's scary to think about us both loving another little human so much more! I guess the only way I keep sane is by being happy in the now while still being excited about the future - that helps!
  • @housewifehobbyist sorry about CD1 but glad you're getting started on the next cycle! I stalked your chart on TWW and if you just look at the temps, that dip at "5 dpo" could have been O, in which case it was only a 12-day LP. Anyway, it's over now, but maybe it wasn't that weird? (I don't even know if I'm trying to be reassuring here or what but I'd thought of it so decided to mention it. Feel free to ignore me!)

Sorry to the other CD1 ladies. Cheers!

I really wish I could help ladies who ask for a chart stalk because I know what it feels like to be super anxious about temping! I'm still learning myself so I feel my interpretation would be bogus. Ha! :/

  • @ashpat0525 - I've definitely had similar feelings. I used to have them a lot more when we weren't as professionally or financially stable. I know you can never really be prepared for a baby but it was taking us so long to get on our feet that at times I thought we would never be in the position to TTC. I'm also not willing to give up certain luxuries if I can help it (obviously layoffs and the like will change plans) and wanted to wait to TTC until we were in a position to do both. I also go to therapy occasionally and she helped me realize that all of my worries about a kid were "what ifs" and nothing concrete, which is a completely normal anxiety.

I spent a lot of time deciding if I really wanted a kid and for a while I considered the pros and cons of having one versus living child-free. It wasn't as black and white as I thought it would be but I received some amazing insight during the process. I was looking at the two options as "What do I get out of each option?" but she told me I couldn't think about parenthood that way. It's not about what you can get out of it, but about what you can give. That simple statement really changed a lot of my mindset. Now I spend less time worrying about how it might negatively impact my life or relationship and more time thinking about how much love and compassion we have to give a child.

  • @hkb1988 I think I might try the 3am thing next cycle. Taking charge of your fertility says that an hour variance in wake up time isn't bad but I hate the open circles FF gives me! They give me anxiety.

  • **Random Non-TTC-Related Question**

For those of you whose charts are attached each day in your signature (and not as a link like mine) do you literally screenshot it every day and add it, or is there a way to automatically make it show up each day updated?

Now that I'm typing, I'm guessing you do it somewhat like a GIF, except it's a still frame, and it would have to be in your signature, not just each post.

  • @KASG I went to my FF chart website (like the one in your siggy), found the image location like you would for a gif (right click copy image location) and added that into my signature using the image insert tool. FF uses a unique URL for each chart though so my way requires updating the image link each cycle. I haven't updated mine to the current cycle yet.
