Re: BFM 11/2

  • Mine is baby name related. We settled on a boy and girl name this weekend. We aren't going to reveal the name until after he/she is born. We haven't even told anyone what we are thinking or that we've decided and in the last 24 hrs we've had at least 10 people ask if we've got names picked out. We like the names and I don't want people's opinions. I might let my brother believe we are naming this Aiden if it's a boy because he has such a complex with Aiden, Jaden, Caden type names.

  • Well I guess over the weekend a mouse has decided to take up residence in my desk cabinet where I keep my purse, lotion, and socks (in case I need to change into my steel toes and go in the field)... there is poop everywhere! So gross! I noticed something dark across the carpet out of the corner of my eye... and then a few moments late this adorable little mouse head pops out from under the cabinet... Really?! MY desk?? As cute as you are, no thank you! Other people complained that the mouse at their bagels and such, which I can get... your fault for keeping food at your desk... but ugh... just ugh!
  • We made plans to go to a haunted corn maze with friends Saturday night....they flaked out and went to get tattoos instead.  Whatever, it was raining anyways and DH wasn't super excited in the first place.  Had plans to go get a pedicure with a friend yesterday (haven't had on in over a year)....she flaked out too.  UGH! Is it so hard to stick to plans you've made with someone? Or at least communicate that things aren't going to work out with enough notice? I admit....I cried about not getting a pedicure last night...but was too stubborn to go by myself.

  • I just irritated that there is a meeting ever.single.day at work. I'm so over it. SO over it. Seriously, how are teachers EVER supposed to get anything done if every spare minute we have it scheduled with a meeting of some sort? And most of them are literally just busy work. Aren't we told as teachers NOT to give our students busy work, because the entire purpose of it is JUST to keep them busy? Believe me, I have plenty of things I need to get done that will actually benefit the learning of my students to keep myself busy during my time. Stop coming up with ludicrous activities to "foster our professional development" when it is actually taking away from our classroom time. Their idea of productivity is the equilvalent of a pointless worksheet in the classroom.

  • Halloween was a bust. My 2 year old got sick so we did not go trick or treating. It would have been her first time. She's bouncing back from whatever she has and now I think I'm coming down with it.

Can kids skip past the teenage years and just turn into responsible adults? lol My 17 year old is grounded from her electronic devices but I think she's still got one hidden somewhere. I changed my wifi access code and password so at least she can't get on from whatever device she's using. And I found out that she was using the PS4 while I'm sleeping to msg people after she's been grounded so now we're locking that down too. MH is pissy about the whole thing so now I am arguing with him too. My 17 year old is a stepdaughter to him and they are both cordial enough to each other to exist in one house.

Overall, crappy weekend and I'm getting sick. Oh and the Packers. WTF

  • So DH & I live in a townhouse & have one other house connected to ours. The neighbors have 2 dogs and let them run in their/our front yard since its kind of combined and they poop and pee out there! The pee isn't so bad but come on! I can see your dogs turds on the ground when I look out my living room window! Take your dogs out the back or pick up the poop! It's our neighborhood's rules anyways; "Scoop the poop." I'm trying to be nice and remain civil but if I step in dog poop, something will be said.

ugh, I was in so much pain for that. It was actually hard for me to stand up when I left, I had to pee so badly.
  • Can I just take a minute to bitch about my friend's cats? We're staying with them while we get a house (which is taking waaaaay longer than we expected) and during this time her fiancé moved in with his two cats. Now there are three cats living here, who do not like each other, and they are peeing on our things. The cat that lived here first isn't fixed so everytime I'm around her she goes into heat (it happens because hormones) and she follows me everywhere to display herself to me. (Not my favorite when it's on the table while I'm trying to eat) They've also taken to knocking over everything they can by running heads first into it! Both roomies were gone over the weekend, and they knocked over an end table with a glass top that had a limited edition scentsy warmer on it. Sweeping up glass for days...

For the most part they are affectionate, but they also harrass you if you don't pet them. Viktor will get in your face and meow continuously until you pet him, Echo will tap you repeatedly, and Stormy yowls all the time because she's pretty much been in heat for two months. It's annoying that I have horrible insomnia, and I get woken up by them fighting under the bed, or demanding I wake up to pet them. Like today when I was woken up by Stormy and Echo having WWIII under the bed and Viktor meowing in my face on the pillow next to me. (Remind me to yell at fiancé for leaving the bedroom door open again...)

OK I feel better after venting. It's their house, and it isn't a forever problem for us!

I'm so confused! I posted this & it's not even on the account I use? Why is the username and picture totally different?!

If I were in your shoes, and was ballsy enough, I would totally got a shovel, scoop it up, and plop it right on their front doorstep. But I'm not ballsy enough...

I'm not ballsy enough either lol! Maye scoop it in a bag, put in on their door step, and print out our neighborhood rules and tape it to the bag! DH might like your idea better though.
  • I am having major anxiety over my current childcare situation. My current home sitter had given indications that she wanted to leave by winter but I was thinking she would stick it out until I found an alternative. Wrong! She told me Friday she's done and insinuated that DD is a bratty toddler. FML. Like finding an alternative is easy. We're having a 16 year old fill in for is for a few weeks but no long term prospects yet

Omg that's frustrating! If you go to church ask around there, and try the care.com route.

What toddler DOESN'T have bratty moments...?! How long as this person been in child care, and do they understand toddlers at ALL? Did you have a contract with them when they started? I worked as a nanny and while I was privately hired, in the same manner a babysitter would be hired, we went through the legalities of writing up a contract. All my sorries, I don't even know what I would do if DD lost her position at her daycare (though I think it would need to be an extreme circumstance for that to occur).

  • @Ready4theParty I'm debating even telling people the sex. I'll find out right before Thanksgiving but I don't want all pink or all "little slugger" clothes, so it may stay a secret. I most definitely will not be sharing our names.

@allaire314 that blows, and it's gross

It kinda made me glad my cat ran away while staying at my mom's house... She was pretty much wild anyway and would bite to show affection (barn cat, can't tame the wild out) We were discussing getting another pet after we're in our own place. OK fiancé bought it up, I looked at him like he'd sprouted horns and wings. I basically said, we're having a baby. For a guy that's like having a pet on Godmode. Not gonna happen again until LO can help take care of it.

I wish I had legal recourse. She's a family friend of in-laws and retired teacher. No contract and totally under the table. She took over in June when our old nanny had surgery with an understanding this would be year deal. I had looked back in June for day care centers but no openings for her age group. I knew she wanted to leave but she could have given me courtesy to s month or 2 to secure something else. I was so upset Friday and then to make matters worse she showed up at my in laws on Saturday where we were trick or treating with DD bc she's in laws friend. Last person I wanted to see.

The Packers definitely had weaknesses exposed 2 weeks ago against the Chargers, and the Broncos took advantage of that.  The one good thing about the loss is that the pressure of an undefeated season is now gone, right??

I'm mostly upset because MIL is a broncos fan and won't shut up about it. She sent a Broncos onesie in the mail last week and I refuse to thank her for it. My baby won't be caught dead in that shit.

FYI I'm a Bills fan, and all of my family are hardcore dolphins fans... My dad keeps (jokingly) asking if we're going to raise LO right? I never cared about football until I met my fiancé, and it's such a huge part of our lives now. I'm still planning on doing some maternity pics in the skeleton shirt with the Bills helmet on them ;) My mom said she'll just put Dolphins stickers over the " icky Bills crap" -.-
  • NOTHING makes me more angry than people who don't pick up after their dogs. We have a large wooded/natural area in our front yard, and we have one neighbor who will walk his dog down and let the dog run around in there. I have watched him watch the dog poop in there and not do anything. Granted, it's a natural area and we don't walk through it... but that's OUR PROPERTY!! OUR YARD!! We own that!! Your dog can't just shit there!

I think if you don't pick up your dog's poop, your dog should be taken away from you. That's part of being a dog owner. If you don't like it, don't get a dog.

    Inconsiderate pricks.
This! I had the same BFM rant today!
  • I also don't get why people won't pick up their dogs poop!? I mean, if it were your child making a mess at someone's house wouldn't you want to clean up after them? Manners, people! I saw it all the time in our old apartment complex.

Btw- we just moved from a big city/apartment living, out to the country where we are the only house up on a mountain...and I tell you it is glorious finally not having to pick up my 80 pound boxers poop!:)

The ONLY time I fail to pick up my pup's poop is when I run out of bags (and even then I've been known to scope out whether any of the litter nearby will fit the bill); I'm always grateful when other dog parents are nearby with spare bags that they're willing to part with.

@BreannaaaMarieee - Maybe the next time you see something like that is in progress or about to happen, you can wander outdoors and strike up a conversation. Perhaps your neighbor will be a little more willing to pick it up if they knows you're watching right then and there.  If they don't, you can always ask if they're out of bags--and if they claim they are, make a big production out of going inside to get a a plastic shopping bag or something.  If they try to tell you not to inconvenience yourself, give them a big smile and a "Oh, no, don't worry. It's not nearly as much trouble as having a mess in my yard would be!" They might be lazy and inconsiderate, but hopefully they're not shameless enough to keep the problem going after one or two of those confrontations.
  • I don't like sneak disses in real life or online. And if you have something to say just say it.

Also, I feel if no one ever said anything about peeing on things posts, or guess my baby's gender posts, there would be so much more actually posted clogging up the boards. I think if women want a post like that, then yes, starting one long thread about it would be a good outlet. When you go to a BMB and not the tri boards, it's more of a community and online "family" where we've gotten to know each other through our responses and threads. I still have finding my place here and settling in. I wouldn't consider myself a regular but I am also not a drive-by. So when I see someone who has literally never posted before in the BMB try to be a white knight gets me a bit irked.

Plus these hormones are fucking killing me.

You are not alone. This is a huge reason why I miss the old bump. 9n my old BMB circa 2013 those posts got shut down quick by regulars and it was hysterical how snarky and creative women were with their response. I have seriously contemplated trying to bring it back...but there are way too many ppl who belong to the positivity police that I just can't keep saying....take a ducking joke. I mean seriously...please pee on baking soda, but it should turn colors...not just fizz if it's a boy.
