Re: Pacifier poll

  • Originally I didn't want to give her one. After about a week of her constantly wanting to be on my boob for the sucking comfort, I gave in. For awhile after that she didn't want anything to do with it though and just recently started taking it back because she has developed a thumb sucking habit to comfort herself!

  • I wish my guy would take one! We offer it to him all the time, but he's not interested.

Same here. He sucks on it for maybe 4-5 pulls, then spits it out cause he can't get any milk out of it. Lol
  • My DD doesn't love it quite as much as my DS did as a baby but she takes it. She prefers her fingers. I would prefer her to take the pacifier because I can keep that cleaner than her hands (especially as she gets older).
  • My baby won't take one.
  • Mine used to love his, now he's kinda over it.

Same here. He'll use it to soothe for a minute or two, maybe, then he just wants to play with it (he has the Wubbanubs).

  • Mine will very rarely take one
  • My LO would just get mad when we would try to use it. She wanted her bottle, no substitutions lol.
  • Felix loves his! I was really against it but he would cry and cry and not nurse to soothe himself. After two months I caved and it has been a total game changer!

Mine is the same. She used to cry without it, but now she'd rather have her thumb or fingers in her mouth.
  • Mama's who want their babies to take one but babies won't: have you tried another brand? Mine loves the Avent and Soothies but haaaaates the Mams and Walmart brands.
  • I voted no, but only because Hazel refuses them. We have tried every brand. I think naps and car rides would be much easier if she would change her mind. We will keep offering it to her!
  • Yes, but he's not interested. Sometimes he will take his wubanub from DH when I'm at work.

  • I didn't want my little guy to have one. Then with all the early on comfort nursing, I was begging him to take one! I spent about $40 trying different brands to try to get him to take one. Nothing worked. Now he sucks his thumb. I guess that works.

  • I use the Nuk brand, only ones she liked. She still will only take it occasionally. Rather her have that then her thumb so I can take it away.

My DD refused it for the first 4 weeks. We used the soothies and wubunub, but it kept coming out and she would get frustrated. Car rides were horrible. We reintroduced it again at around 6 weeks and she can't sleep without it now and car rides are calm and peaceful. She uses the mam pacifiers since she was able to keep it from falling out due to the design. Also, love that they have a glow in the dark one, so easy to find it in the middle of the night if she spits it out and starts to fidget I pop it right back in and she's out.
  • DD will only take soothie brand. But she isn't really that attached to it, and she likes to suck on her hand/thumb too.
  • My DD has only used the soothie(what the nicu introduced to her) and avent as they are the same style. But she only uses it to fall asleep then knocks it out of her mouth and doesn't take it back. That's the only time she takes it so hopefully it will be easy to take away before it gets too much of a habit.
  • My little one likes it right after she nurses. She also likes it when she is in her swing and uses it to fall asleep at night. She isn't totally addicted to it but it does soothe her at certain times.
  • Is there a need to move on from soothie at a certain age? Mine is 4 months and still likes soothie
  • @shaley29 does she like the latex or silicon nuks? DD will only use NUK brand but it has to be the latex, she won't have a bar of the silicon nipples. And in Australia we can't get them(was a fluke that I got at a baby expo) so I have to order them from England. I keep spares everywhere just incase hahaha
